  • Have had this album since about 1996, and it has always been a very powerful music for me.

It is also, as someone has pointed out, incredibly sensuous, and is a fantastic soundtrack for spiritual lovemaking.

  • Oh yeah, I agree with the comment about bad art. Maybe you can re-do it and find better art now.

  • This is the first time I have heard an Indian song in the Indian language. Thanks!

  • although i cant understand the languges,i have always been drawen to the native songs, they relax my soul ,they take me back to a place in time only the soul knows,

  • to thank her and all her family standing there in her time. You can do this as well I wrote Texas and a few other people to put out fires. Ask the Gods and ask the Ancestors listen and do what they show you. Just don't make a law about cloud stealing because I will be guilty. I am now learning to ask the winds for what I want as well. To all the beautiful Ancestors who hear our prayers. Thank YOU.

My family came from Salam / Danvers ........ Beautiful music paintings on Katydidscorner

  • basket over and put all the clouds up wind from us. I turned to thank her and she was gone. I thanked the wind for such a beautiful person to send me Grandmothers are always so loved. In 30 minutes it rained so heard there was so much rain I looked at my dog and said see you are a loved person. I then thought she must be dead but later I decided to check and see if it was a time window the Indians found they went through from their time to ours. I found it out of body and went throught it

  • While I was in Danvers Mass I got hot so did my dog in the car so I asked the Ancestors to help me. In a few minutes an American women wearing skins walked up to me out of body and made her soul very large she imagined a basket and started to reach out for clouds. Since I am a medium I said OK me too I made my soul big and I too got a basket like hers and started to reach for as many clouds around Canada and New York wherever I saw them and I put them also into my basket. Then she turned her

  • Very very beautiful and calming. I love the translation. What language is this? I can't say enough how beautiful it is.

  • THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL SONG…and i am sure you meant well—except for a few paintings, most were those cheesy native american "indian maiden” tourists junk.

  • @APACHEFIRE1 Yes, i agree. I wanted to depict just females, and It was made in 2007 , At the time that was all the art that was available on internet to make the video.

  • heart beats of america, no longer do you hear their voice. Some how the law took their choice. Behind blind bars that most do not cross...no one sees the rivers or the wild ox. Where did they loose their rights. I know that they put up a fight. I am their blood, no shame. I still feel the discrimination and pain. And their are those who cry out slaves, but our people still have not be acknowledge and any way.

  • This is a beautiful song :) helps me get by the day

  • what language is this?:)

  • este tema es mi favorito.

  • Natives some of the most beautiful and peaceful peoples to live. Respected the earth took only what was needed and was thankful never over used resources like we do now. I wish I could of seen how America was when they controlled it and before us the whiteman and christianity came and destroyed everything that was beautiful and now most tribes are lost trying to find a way back but cut down by society

  • @xXxCOV3RTxXx ME too!! But I wonder about warring tribes and the state of conflict.

  • beautiful to hear woman singing together so sweetly thank you

  • so feminim... love it... even i dont know the meaning but it make me feel so peacefull

  • I love this. Absolutely beautiful. I have been spending a lot of time listening to native american music. I know my great great grandfather was native american. I only wish I knew more about him. I hear his drums throughout the land. His beat I feel within my heart. The drum shall beat so my heart shall beat. And I shall live a hundred thousand years.
  • @karadione

Absolutely Beautiful, thank - you so much for the words & translation into English. They have such Beautiful voices and when they sing in their language they make it sound absolutely effortless. I tried following but it's not as easy as it seems. Nonetheless one of my all time Favorite songs. I 1st heard this grp. on Robbie Robertsons CD " Music of the Native Americans. " An incredible CD worth buying & listening to. :o)

  • @karadione In what native american language is this sang in

  • @thecheechoftheages Pura Fé (Tuscarora), Soni (Mayan, Apache, Yaqui), and Jennifer (Tuscarora). In the Tutelo-saponi language the correct translation should be:

Our hearts are full and our minds are good

Our ancestors come and give us strength

Stand tall, sing, dance and never forget who you are

    or where you come from

  • what the meaning?

  • what meaning?

  • Where can I find the original words to this song? The language that it is sung in is absolutely beautiful.

  • i love it im native american andi love everything native

  • Beautiful music and pictures! Thanks for sharing!

  • could you give me the original lyrics, not the english translation I mean. This song is so...involving

    thank you

  • I dedicate this song to a friend I love a lot. fly, my poucka, high like the eagle. may your heart beat for hundred thousand years, mine is beating for you.

  • SO BEAUTIFUL....amazing, my spirit is calm and relaxed when I hear this spiritual tune.

  • those who walked here across the bering strait found people here when they got here, also abandoned sites of a culture that had come and gone before them... much evidence of humans here way before the bering strait time..people we come from everywhere and go everywhere. we are all related.

  • @medicinesocks That was the remains of the Clovis Culture that had been wiped out by the greatest natural catastrophy since the eruptions of Toba in 73000BCE

  • Robbie R's part mohawk, part jewish. Ulali is not one girl singing, it's three women, each from a different tribe,> the red road is a story, the written record of the leni lenape people, who recount a journey from central china, which they called turtle island to what's called the american continent, and many generations of people's stories on both sides of the land bridge.

  • Breathtakingly beautiful. I have a thread from a photo of my Medicine Wheel on Flickr

so others may listen to this sweet sacred song.

  • What tribe made this song?

  • @ blueskyfeeling ... i don't see the pictures as "sexy" .. beautiful yes , sexy no ... you say they're "westernised" but it sounds more like this song is influences by today's pop culture . i don't think that the "Native women" would be insulted .

@TheMaidenBlackRoses .... TheMichelleyoo merely asked a question & didn't insult ur "brothers & sisters" ... maybe you need to practice what ur ancestors did & chill out .... i think ur comment was more of an insult to Native Americans .

  • I love the music but I can't stand the idealistic, 'sexy' portrayals of Native women in the pictures. Facially the features don't even look authentic but very Westernised. It seems an insult to Native women.

  • I went to a pow wow and this really evokes beautiful memories

  • Beautiful. Thank you. “The Drum is Sacred. It is the first sound you hear. It is your Mother’s Heartbeat.” ~ pj johnson

  • *~*~*~Namaste'~*~*~*

  • i love the voice of the singer its so soothing. blessed be.

  • Is it true that native americans ancesters came over from asia?

  • @TheMichelleyoo No way we were not from Asia. Our anestors have been he for thousands of years, Get your history straight and stay out of the so called history books they give you in school. Insult to all my native brothers and sisters. Potowatomi Woman

  • @TheMichelleyoo it could be true but scientests havent found out if it was true or not

  • I just love your music, the voice of the singer is so touching, thank you and be bless

  • love native American music i m Iranin

  • i spend at least 7 hours listening to native song

  • anyone know who is singing this??? love to learn the words.

  • my absolute favourite!!

  • beautiful

nice to see you and good upload..... heheheeh

played perfectly with no hiccups. (you know what I mean)

  • I spend about five hours every night listening to the native songs on here and I especially love this song. Can anyone tell me who the singer is? Her voice is now competing with Jana Mashonee for my favourite girl singer. Shouldn't say that as they both sing beautifully.

  • This album is by Robbie Robertson and the Red Road Ensemble which is the soundtrack for Ted Turner's mini-series "The Native Americans" and the title of the album is "Music for the Native Americans". He hired many singers to complement his work, including Rita Coolidge who sings "Cherokee Morning Song" and Native American guest vocalists Pura Fe, Soni, and Jen, who perform "Mahk Jchi (Heartbeat Drum Song)"

    I hope this helps.

  • Thank you very much, I really apreciate the info. The girls voices are amazing and first thing tomorrow I will be looking for Robbies CD. Rita is another of my favourites and her group Walela. Thank you for giving us this version of the song.

  • @katydidscorner

Yes, and the name of their group (for Pura Fe, Soni & Jen) is Ulali. I highly recommend this CD.

They have a lot of incredible songs on there, this being one of them. " Vanishing Breed " (also from this CD) is also a Favorite of mine. :o)

  • @jetfueller Singers are group called Ulali

  • @SingingHawk1942 Many thanks I love this song by the girls. I'm looking for any album they have. I have the Red Road Ensemble by Robbie Robertson and they are excellent. Wado.

  • @jetfueller I think, this song in original sings group Ulali. Pura Fe among them.

I like this group very much, especially this song. The language and meaning of words are remarkable and beautifull.

  • If this girl has a CD I would love to get it.

  • Beautiful, beautiful song. I absolutely love the native Americans. I am Scottish and proud to be, but I had two aunts and an uncle on my mothers side that we all thought looked Hawian. It turns out my great great grandfather on my mothers side was Brule. I am still looking up my full ancestry but I am really happy right now.

  • I'm mostly scot but my husband is Native american, now i have a new love for there culture

  • AirisHyuga13 I couldn't think of a better union than a native American and a Scotswoman. Had I known about my distant ancestor when I was young I think I would have tried to find a bride from one of the Brule tribes. I really would have loved to bring my sons up with this heritage although the blood of a great great grandfather would be pretty faint.

    Take care.

  • I listen to this song about four times a night just for the calming effect it has on me. Dont know who the girl is but she is amazing. AirisHyuga13 I meant to ask what tribe your husband belonged to. I belong to two clans in Scotland. The Watson and Buchanan clans.

  • my husband is from the sioux. as for me i'm from clan Donnachaidh

  • AirisHyuga13 I believe my great, great grandfathers tribe is part of the Sioux Nation. I am still waiting for a better link to the family but I will keep digging till I find it.

  • Wow, 3:53 pic is beautiful. the music captivated my heart. Soothes me when i feel so bad. I'm mixed so idk where my ancestors came from. All I know is that I feel safe hearing the drum's beat and such amazing voice.

  • The heartbeat drums of my ancestors, the people of turtle Island, for those who say otherwise watch for Dec 21 2012

  • Sending prayers up for Elder Louise Small Legs, Medicine Woman...she is in hospital. Give her strength Creator, give her strength...sending good energy.

    Hai Hai

  • Wow. Who is singing this? Such a beautiful voice and beautiful background music to compliment the voice. I would love to hear more of her voice!

This is very soothing music, in many ways it has a romantic tone to it. Lovely, extremely well done.

    Thank you for this Video.

  • Very nice!... And for the record, we all came from Africa you guys!! It's still greatly debated by Anthropologists where we migrated to first, and there are different theories. We are all the same race, we've just evolved slightly different after hundreds of thousands of years. It's amazing how similar this song is to those of the Andes thousands of miles away... Luzmila Carpio - Ama Sua, Ama Llulla, Ama Qhella is a good example. The drums have been replaced with guitars tho.

  • Thanks for sharing flybreath. You are so right - Very Spiritual and Uplifting. Great Post.

  • lol oh you silly people. everyone comes from the wind cave! asians, turks, hindus, africans, ect... they all came from natives, sorry to burst your silliness & bering strait bubble!

  • I prefer the term aboriginal people. Indian and Native American seem to downplay their significance.

  • What tribe is this language? Hopi? When I was in Thailand I heard the monks meditating to some of this music and really made me miss home in New Mexico

  • tutelo

  • Soul moving!

  • Loving thy deer

    Miigwetch!

  • sounds japanese to me. beautiful though.

  • asians ~did~ come to "America" and become the Native Americans/ancestors of NAs.

So it might be one lof those diluted things :3

  • no. We're more likely turks than asian. but i guess turks are asian lol so yeh.

what i mean is were more closely related to turks than we are japanese, or chinese people.

  • Yeah.

I was just saying that people came over from the general Asian continent

  • My Wedding Song*

  • I love this song, the pictures are wonderful. This song sounds like a Nordic song I've heared.

  • 2.09 SHE'S SO LOVELY

  • Translation: by Shirley Daniels

    A hundred years have passed

Yet I hear the distant beat of my father's drums.

I hear his drums throughout the land.

His beat I feel within my heart.

    The drum shall beat

    so my heart shall beat.

And I shall live a hundred thousand years.
