  • amazing. It makes me sad my gf didnt trust me this song was one as I said : "scratching the surface" with the giggle of someone singning after I pointed some bruises on her face... Yeah my bad, but I couldnt hold it as we all know this song is amazing.

I'm sad she doesn't open herself... or that she didnt wanna care, perhaps. Hands in the air folks ;') ~ 21 years old and I can appreciate this song, so... I believe the 5 dislikes are just border line - off - in their lives.

    I'm Draël and I luv

  • jim gilmore any relation to david gilmore from pink floyd ?

  • NEAT SONG

  • While I may like heavier music in general, this sis one of my all time favourite tunes. I never get tired of it. Haunting keyboards and the vocals are just amazing!!

  • Awesome band, that's REAL MUSIC!!!

  • @davidson2004fatboy YES!!! I totally agree with you.

  • "The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself... Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable..."

    ~ H.L. Mencken

  • "Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play."

    ~ Joseph Goebbels

  • "Behind Boetie's thinking was the assumption, later spelled out in great detail by David Hume, that states cannot rule by force alone. This is because the agents of government power are always outnumbered by those they rule. To insure compliance with their dictates, it is essential to convince the people that their servitude is somehow in their own interest. They do this by manufacturing ideological systems..."

    ~ Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.

  • "Scratching the surface ' You better come up for air ' Strapped to the media, a machine to fear"

    ~ Saga

  • "Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the U.S. media."

    ~ Noam Chomsky

  • Let's start off August with this song!

  • honestly.. i only the the main course. i dont care for the rest of the song. but still a great song

  • Awesome band, this is what you call REAL music.

  • portal

  • @drfred25

If your mom jumped through that portal she would come out with an erect willy!

  • There's a strong Alan Parsons' Project sound to this song

! I rarely heard Saga here in NJ, which is a big prog rock state. They were never played on local radio stations. Now I'm pissed I didn't hear this album in high school!!

  • im 15 and i like this :A

  • I chose this as an olympics song! Go "Animalympics" and Canada!

  • Sure, no problem.

  • SCRATCHING THE SURFACE. YOU BETTER COME UP FOR AIR

  • My minion of Toronto approaching Queens Park.

  • There was so many great music being made all through the eighties that alot of band's certainly did'nt grt thr recognition that they mostly deserved!

  • People that only listen to the new age music should really learn the history of music, what innovated the music of today, then everyone would understand how awesome the originality the old band's have. Saga FTW,

  • This song gives perfect evidence of why I need to listen to the local-ish classic rock station more often: I'd heard it once before, but never caught the name or the artist, until yesterday I heard it on the radio, and though I couldn't remember the name of track, I definitely caught "Saga", and from there it was easy enough to find it.

  • This kind of sounds to me like what would have happened if Rush had brought Howard Jones into the band to increase the keyboard density and assist Neal Peart with songwriting. Maybe I'm crazy but that's what this sounds like to me, and I really like it so please don't flame my odd imagination!

  • |-)

  • This isn't for everybody, but those who like it... like it A LOT!

  • @oceanic1 love it a lot...

  • Super bon!!!! ;-)

  • One of Saga's very best. A good album too. Then again, can Saga do a bad one? Thumbs up!!

  • For me, this song is the best of SAGA.

  • The human condition with a conch salad...

  • @Ypipable That album is pretty bad.

  • @Heinrich1122 It requires a sleeve numb skull.

  • I feel young again, and for that I thank you. I see you all once, twice,,,, more before, and understand. Give i'm a call, and you know who. Yours fans are still here for you.

  • A Masterpìece, no doubt about it, pure feeling.

  • que de souvenir....mon 1er concert a marseille au parc chanot...

  • Sounds similar to Rupert Hine. Maybe because he produced this record.

    Pretty cool song...

  • i love this song =D haven't heard it in forever!

  • Awesome song..i had this on cassette back in the day and would burn it out :)

  • @Envenomed69 Same : ) lol

  • i used to play their double album over and over..

  • These guys are great. I love this style of 80s Canadian music, along with Gowan and Platinum Blonde.

  • So you won't tell me where you have been up to now

I don't know they have seen you come and go

(Oh) You are well on your way but never leaving the chair

    Playing scenes on TV screens

Watching widely to glimpse the full view

While the hours have their hands all over you

You say that you see me, well I see you too

I look behind, what do you find, all but an empty room

Scratching the surface and you can't get away

You've travelled far and so far you have nothing to say

  • Wow, this beat BANGS so hard!

  • The Best song from SAGA!!!!!!!!

    5*****

  • I need to see these guys live....

If anyone hears about them playing in Canada, please let me know...

My freinds, SAGA is the most innovative and creative band that I can recall ever hearing!

    Long live SAGA!

  • my Absolute favorite Saga song! never seen 'em live, but it would be dream come true to see them in Canada or Germany

  • for all u suckers i,m from a small country call honduras central america and i know those can play just like rush , tell me i,m hispanic and those are great

  • LOL... yeah - I know Michael isn't doing the vocals on this particular song - Jim Gilmour is, which I realised too f.... late!! :-O :D

  • Even it's at least a factor 10 too low, I'm still rather happy to be the number 60.000 listener of this great song byt the greatest band of Canada. Too bad Michael Saddler didn't stay their lead vocalist for as long as his and SAGA's fans would have wanted him to...

  • I just rediscovered Saga what a great band, local lads from Oakville ,Ontario. Great music, great memories and still going strong with amazing live performances!

  • Jim Gilmour did the vocals on this song? Beautiful. Lovely range and very clear.

  • Geiles Lied!

  • this whole album is good. think i'll buy it again!!!!

  • a great band that was even better live. great shows, songs and band.

  • i discovered saga a couple weeks ago and they frikin rule! right next to rush

  • I can't believe I just discovered these guys. One of the Canadian classic rock stations that I get here in the US plays these guys once in a while. Great band.

  • Really good song!

  • me too very good memories of saga's very best! xxxxx

  • Grear song ....... and hidden in this song : Johann Sebastian Bach´s "well tempered clavier"

  • yes we go fast

  • One of my favourite songs of all time!

  • You go so fast...settle down mon (you must be Canadian)

  • You must be ignorant....mon (must be a Yankee)

  • Ah...no. But they're oK.

  • GREAT SONG!!!GREAT MEMORIES!!

  • @Vikabo01 Great memories is right!

  • GREAT SONG!!!GREAT MEMORIES!!

  • I miss the Bahamas

  • This is one of the best album of this genre ,their best for me.

The first two from Aldo Nova are amazing as well.

There is a new band which is able to recapture that sound in a modern form and I must say they are fantastic:

WORK OF ART and their debut album ARTWORK

check them on myspace woa artwork

  • Amazing song !

  • Absolutely underrated band! Great musicians, great tunes and lyrics, that´s sure! "Behaviour" helped me during my worst time (motorcycle- accident summer 1985). Thank you guys!

  • Ugh I know, there's so many ridiculously underrated Canadian rock badns from the 80s... Saga, Loverboy, Triumph, and I'm sure there's plenty more, but I wasn't around then, so tragically I don't know that many... any others you'd suggest? (They don't HAVE to be Canadian lol)

  • Rush.

  • Rush got started in the 70s. I mean, a lot of their more well known songs hit in the 80s, but I'm pretty sure Saga started in the 80s, and they do have a more 80s sound than Rush

  • That's very true. Do pardon me, I completely overlooked the fact that you were talking about the 80s ^^ actually I think they started late 60s-ish. Just saying!

  • lol well I'm aware of Rush's epicness ^^

  • @K9Django Music contnues to be the one medium that makes a diffference. When times are rough we turn to the one place tha is safe and that is our muisic. It contineus to be one place we can find peace, happiness and inspiration to continues to resound today. Cheers to the musicians that gave us our voice.

  • This hole Album its just perfection!

  • ...what can i say more - so many wonderful comments...

Like "grubak": I want me a time machine, or two...

SAGA accompanied my years between 80 and 85.

    Thanks for that.

  • Can I just wish for a time machine to go back anytime between 78-83 when these guys were making beautiful music!?... this was a great time for SAGA, will keep their music close to me forever.

  • @grubak amen bro ! you are so totally right

  • @grubak

I feel just as strongly about the music of Saga!

  • @grubak I want to be in that time machine,i use to see these guy's on a regular basis in London Ontario.

    ironhide007 is right

  • chorus gives me chills....one of the best buildups ever.

  • Oh ya.

  • @quincee33 I totally agree; the chorus is a complete, hair-raising shock.. And I can't stop marveling at the perfectly sparse use of percussion.

  • Who says there isn't good Canadian music artists?

  • Ya, there is no proper Appreciation for Canadian music.

  • @GordonYYZ HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA yea right have you ever heard of RUSH it's a canadian band type in tom sawyer ok then you hear the good good best drumer and singer ever got that so FUCK OFF!...........>=(

  • @GordonYYZ Rush and Saga started around the same time, and while Rush is definitely more recognized internationally they are easily two of the most skilled bands in the world. And they are both from the GTA in Ontario, Canada!

  • US CANADIANS GOT RUSH!!!!!!! NEIL PERT IS BEST DRUMMER YO! my dad went to school with them in toronto

  • @bjom77 Is there any one ?????????? I'll give them a history lesson on Canadian music Icons still sounding off today.

  • @bjom77 actually, i think most people who are music fans know that Canada produces alot of talent per our small population.....we just suck at making TV shows!

  • @quincee33 two words, Red Green

  • @pipedonetimes are u being sarcastic? or do you ACTUALLY LIKE The Red Green Show? Please tell me you don't watch Corner Gas too?

  • @quincee33 I actually like the Red Green show. Although I agree that the shows today pretty much suck, the comedies are actually pretty damn funny (as they should be).

  • @Zow0zow geez Zow0zow! hope u don't watch Corner Gas or Little Mosque on The Prairie,lol....
