FYI you can't fly that close to Morro rock legally. Also paramotors are prohibited south of the inlet into Morro bay and the local soaring club doesn't want you on the state park or Montana de Oro state park. Mainly because the average paramotor pilot does idiotic shit like in this video. Kthanks
Great video, shows how safe the sport is even when a huge mistake is made. I fly the same glider and have never experienced a collapse like that but I've never flown in that level of turbulence.
The wing reopened very fast for such a big collapse. proves that the wings are forgiving. But flying so close on the lee side of such abig obstacle is risky.
Bit of stupidity on the pilots behalf but sometimes pilots arnt tought well enough or just forget as nothiing has happened for a long time? Rotor can take many shapes and forms. It can happen sometimes in the least of expected places trust me i was ridgsoaring when i got slammed 100' feet into a rockface due to a 90 deg 1minute windshift. I am only here by luck but a time in emergency. This however does show how god the wing recovered which should make pilots feel more comfortable.
WPPGA is a one man organization to promote one and only one persons inflated ego. Since you bring it up the point of the mountain is a great place to learn and advance your paragliding skills, but you should never get a paramotor from the manufacturer in Salt Lake.
Lee Side Wrong place wrong time... but this video clearly shows a collapse from a great angle. Fun to watch, not sure I would want to be there. Can you do it again but this time use a reflex wing on full reflex :)
Agreed, I have had two full frontal collapses on full reflex wings flying in pants weather, both recovered before I could even think about it, one was on full speed bar, and caught on tape... (just look for fly another day trailer on the tube) Reflex is the way forward.... its just taking a few people some time to cotton on. you will get there in the end.. :-)
@surfervince Reflex wing probably would have done the same although with trimmers open it would have reisted a lot more. probaly just got wingtip tucks. But couldve collapsed too as all wings can some are just way harder. And besides a reflex wing would have been so far in front the seabreeze wouldnt have been in yet when it flew past :)
Yea, get that super duper reflex wing out there and show us how stable it is... Make sure your in 18-20 mph and fly right behind that big ass rock... just like he did...I want to see a dumbass acutally shit himself.
@PGseanB maybe you should go fly a reflex wing instead of listening to One idiot out there and see why so many experienced pilots and normal pilots are using them, I will never go back to my PG wing for paramotoring now NEVER.
Maybe I'm wrong, but was not that a rotor behind that hill? Wrong pilot decision- thats what usually come first in mind. Great equipment - as you would expect from that category - reealy bad pilot judgement. My 2 cents. Jaro
Tupper, I was not the pilot, I was given the video by the pilot. People ask what happens when the wing folds, do you die. Well this video clearly shows the passive safety of the momentum wing, and most wings for that matter. I agree, o not fly on the leeward side of anything. But the best thing is, it shows that The idiot in Salt Lake is a liar for all of his rantings.
if i were you i would take this video down, it not a promotion of your equipment but a testament of how stupid you are for flying where you were flying which is what caused this collapse to begin with. You should delete my comment and then delete this video, or somehow do some amazing video editing to show that you were not flying on the leeward side of that hill!!!

@ExtremePPG Hopefully he now knows not to fly that low on the leeward side of the gigantic rock too.
Fly safe!
