  • so me.

  • tama must be mad...........

  • Jesus, Stewart looks like he's about fourteen! I'm guessing this was before he got his Tama endorsement.

  • I know there's a clearer version of this on youtube the same length but I can't remember what the dude made the title, something about the musik Garden or whatever, if anyone knows reply?

  • @superdonyoungy look here: EiDy2

  • Summers is a great guitarist!

  • dull audience!!!!!!!! this is the fucking police!!!! c'mon

  • This is hereafter tagged British pschycodelia i feel it.

  • Those were some killer fucken drums, great band

  • Those days when drummers could really play on their own kits, no drumcomputer can do this:)

  • you're so beautifully sang this song. luv it;)

  • Since Stewart Copeland was so unliked by Sting & Andy, I always felt he got short-changed for his INCREDIBLE drumming skills ~ AND his overall musicall talents; but above all - just watch how well he bangs those drums... AWESOME!

  • Fuck yeah Stewart Copeland is so badass!!

  • Could somebody please post this louder?

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Beethoven Without The Chops

  • I LOOOOVE the police...but the solo was soooo chopppy to me :/ oh welll lol rest of the song is sooooo rad thou!

  • 24 people feel so lonely..

  • the audience is..So Boring....so boring ...so boring..

    what the hell

  • Masters of their art, at their peak. Live performance is hard on the performer but they stroll it. Unbelievable.

  • @BenNewt They make great cars in Germany, but they just don't know to enjoy a nice rock show.

  • @mrJimCharles Oh dude, I really don't think so. Here in Germany we do know how to party. Just have a look at "Rock im Park" or "Rock am Ring".

  • Who dosent love Stewart Copeland

  • q ricaaaaa bandaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

  • I've listened to this gem since it was released but today is the first day I heard it as a drummer . it was close to a religous experience , the little hairs on my arms and neck stood at attention!I love this song, and thats a total departure from what I listen to.

  • el mejor baterista

  • Absolute classic,it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up,just a crying shame that sting is such a douchebag.

  • This video is available on far better quality. Type - the police - so lonely (beat club performance).

  • @EiDy2 hey! thanks for the tip on the better video.Bought the Police cassettes with my own money back in the late 70's

  • Stewart rockin' those tube socks......that's what made the Seventies great !!

  • Stewaaaaaaaaaaaaaaart

  • @yose851 indeed, his groves, moves, he's still got it!!

  • i was also having a great time in 2007; i was in the audience, bought a beer and drank it on sting. I thing stings knows this, he was looking at the audience

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck they were powerful...

  • 2:45-3:36 Pure orgasm, especially at 3:00. Moment of anthology of the music rock.

  • whwre was shoot the video?

  • i am so lonely....what a great song

  • So good !

  • I saw this band for $1.07 back in 1979. It was a promotion for WCCC in Hartford. Ill tell ya it was one of best shows I ever witnessed!!!!

  • THIS my friends,is what "classic" 70's music-videos is ALL ABOUT!! Don't BELIEVE ME?? LOL. Take a look at Andy Sumners Broken guitar-strings on his tuning-head!! LOL. TODAY'S musicians FIRST hand there thousand dollar guitars to there "guitar-tech" who changes the strings FOR THEM instead of doing it there EGO-DRIVEN SELVES!! LOL. GREAT VIDEO!!!!

  • Wow Kevin Bacon looks like Copeland especially at 3:26

  • damn look at Andy and the guitar and stewart looked hecka young and sting well hes just as fine as he always was :)

  • dull audience

  • @fmulder1989 Haha no kidding man. The audience needs to start opening their ears and bouncing around! its the police man!!

  • fake

  • Neil Peart, Stewart Copeland and Mike Portnoy should release a drummer's tribute album. A tribute to themselves!

  • this band is so great!!! My band and I are covering this song now for 1 year, and t´s allways a very good partzy song!!

  • I love that strange copeland DRUMkit!

  • i love sting's bass

  • i like this song

  • Saw them in Syracuse in October 1978 at the Firebarn. There were about 20 people in the place. Think I paid $2 to get in. They were great. And we all danced together.

  • awesome... but the backup vocals... baaaad.

  • @sixidiotstom I'd say it's tough to sing while playing drums.

  • @mikehayden1968 i also sing and play drums in my bands, so its not easy but in fact stewart and andy aren´t really good singers...

  • @sixidiotstom Stewart is absolutely cranking on the drums while making an attempt to sing (background obviously). No drummer in history has ever sung well while playing the drums at this level. Hard breathing doesn't allow for proper vocals. If we're talking Don Henley, that's different. Great voice, can't play. There's many. The best drummer/lead vocalist in history is Phil Collins. No 2nd place worth mentioning. Obviously not at the same time live enter Chester Thompson on drums.

  • @SterlingRe don henley is a good drummer, very solid, he plays for the band... i never liked phil collins as a drummer i must say... but everyone has another opinion and thats ok ;)

  • @sixidiotstom I completely respect your right to your opinion and of course taste is involved too. However you might might feel about Phil as a drummer though, he's on another planet compared to Henley. You will "never" hear Henley's name come up in drumming conversations. Phil's a bonafide player. I do think Don's an excellent singer. Sticking to this tread. Stewart's a beast and you don't hear quality background vocals from a drummer who's playing so hard, even if they have a decent voice.

  • @sixidiotstom SO? Neither were Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Captain Sensible etc...but they are unique and we love them for it!!

  • @sixidiotstom I find the backup vocals really punk! :)

  • so lonely so lonely so lonely so lonely

  • Te meg bezzeg négyecskén élsz. Ott van Réka, a SzeretÅ‘d meg a csaja. Ketten alszanak középen, nagyon egyedi.

  • I looove sonnng !!!!!

  • One of the best solo!

  • I'm lonely too;( Gonna try my best to make this into a positive thing like you did sting... Incredible talent I'll try to emulate somehow. Love you.

  • Copeland looks so young

  • @thenewjon Yes, that's what struck me, too.

  • Fat Cats in Downtown Lauderdale?? It's still there!!!!!!

  • Ur not alone Sting. Thanx for making us feel we are not alone.(

  • I'm 45 years old still rockin and these guys defined me as a musician! I'm a drummer so Stewart was and still is my hero! These guys were the Beatles for me! BTW: I love the Beatles! I just wish Sting would realize the magic is at best when he's with Stewart and Andy. I respect a love Sting's solo stuff however it's getting a bit old and worn out and for me The Police never did! Sting save us all and write another chapter in music with these guys!

  • yes - great band, great tune, great rendition of this tune. I've always liked the Police, but lately I can't seem to get enough of them.

  • what tempo! nice! xD

  • Stewart Copeland is a drummer legend.

  • Very Fast

  • pure rock, the solo is amazing!

  • Copeland's Ludwig fits very well, the only problem is the hats : they sound too heavy.

  • i think its funny because no one in the crowd is so much as bobbing their head. I would be going nuts to see this.

  • This really makes one homesick for the 70's and 80's again.

Great days and MTV used to be real

  • I saw them play in a shitty club in Ft. Lauderdale called "Fat Cats" back then they were touring in a van and inviting the audience to their motel afterwards to party. Sting sat at my table during a break and I bought him a beer . They were awesome !

  • You bought Sting a beer?!! F'n awesome!

  • Yea ! They were all very down to earth. I knew these guys were going to make it big so I bought one of their T-shirts which they all signed. They even announced what motel they were staying in so the audience could come and party with them after the show. The club was tiny and there were maybe twenty people there at the most.

  • I'm jealous. I wouldn't even mind having tea with Sting today.

  • @jrgvillalba that's awesome dude. did you ask him about tantric sex? haha

  • @jrgvillalba On that same tour, they were booked to play the Paramount in Portland, Oregon. All I knew about them is they were New Wave but somehow also reggae. They couldn't sell enough tickets and the show was cancelled, one of the big disappointments of my life.

  • @jrgvillalba You wonder why they don't do that anymore.

  • @jrgvillalba bullshit!

  • @jrgvillalba that is the thing i LOVE when a band is not madly famous, and you hang out with them after the show!

  • @jrgvillalba That's the greatest thing I ever heard! That's awesome!

  • @jrgvillalba You have my respect!!!!

  • @jrgvillalba That's a cool story dude, I hope you bring it up every time you're drunk! it should be compulsory!.

  • @jrgvillalba Thats fuckin amazazing

  • yeah way too young, makes me way too old. these guys were tight.

  • have you seen how youngStewart Copeland looks?!

  • so lonely i love you sou mach

  • Can someone tell me where this is from? Cheers

  • i am sure this is from the beat club in germany, i have all this show on video tape, vh1 played the hole of this gig some time ago.

  • Thanks for that MaxGary. :-)

  • le solo est celou qd mm ! meme si je kiff andy sommers

  • What a great band, great song.... stewart copeland rulez!

  • @DoNuT1985 Yes, he's the best rock drummer, ever. I like him even better than Keith Moon and Ringo Starr. Hmm, all English...

  • @brianallancobb

what? Copeland isn't english, he's american

  • @JIMMYJIBLETS You're right. How did he get to England, anyway? I'll have to look up his Wiki entry.

  • @brianallancobb His mom was scottish, and his dad was a cia officer

  • @brianallancobb a great drummer for sure, john bonham has that title no argument

@ all , keith moon was just a natural , stewert copeland had drumming training.

a fantastic drummer but not in the same league as john bonham.

i'm not a big led zepp fan.

  • Man,

You "young pups" don't remember what these guys were to the "new age". So inovative, so new, this band was and still is the transitional band. They go from punk to new age seamlessly.

    SO GOOD

  • i always hated how Sting would hold back on signing the words, thinking since it was cool and "jazzy" to do that like Sinatra, but it's actually really annoying.

  • @skitch88 Thanks cunt.

  • best band of in all time in live with led zeppelin.

  • Wooow Copeland looks different lol

  • @bhagan92 do doubt!!!! a kid!!!!!

  • He's 12 in this video. No?

  • interesting crowd "response"

  • WTF??!!

haha, the people, where is the people??

i see some heads, but nothing with life

  • stewart copeland and ludwig drums don't go together.

but he sounds beast on a tama drumset.

  • AH ha. thats whats wrong. fucking ludwig. his snare sounds like shit

  • this audience is dead

  • knobheads! I've been listening to the police since 1978...AND playing bass since i was 14 (you do the math) BASS CAN BE PLAYED WITH: THUMB, FINGER AND PLECTRUM... START LEARNING!!!

  • At there absolute best !

Looks like the crowd is lacking a pulse though.

  • so gony

  • Sting plays by thumb ...

  • its called chromaticism. and bass players can use picks. its called dubwise. sting was a good supporter of it.

  • well sure they can,but a pick on a bass string makes it sound trebly, with fingers it sounds and feels like a bass.try it yourself and see...

  • im a musician i think id know. when i play this type of music (which i do), i prefer to use picks and sometimes use a finger. just because the alltime famous 'onlyjoetee' uses his fingers doesnt mean everyone else has to, let alone sting.

  • you're referring to roundwound strings. almost every bass player in th 60's used a pick and they had a much deeper bottom than anyone today. the difference is with the string. i agree that a pick and a roundwound bass string is just horrifying. sting, at this point used half-rounds, I believe, and sometimes used a pick, which is o.k. but not as good as a nickel flat.

  • Playing bass with a pick is like having sex with a condom!!!!!!!!!!! it can NEVER EVER be as good as without EVER!! most of those 60s bass players were switched guitarists, like most rock bassist they were not "natural" bass players. The natural bass player NEVER uses a pick.like the reggae guys eg Stings hero's,proper natural bass players...see and feel the difference

  • This is known as the Beat Club version of the song not sure where that thats all I know. Love the drum intro!

  • Non, concert aux USA je crois...

  • Very Great!!!!

  • not into this solo so much?

  • same here, what's he playing at? he seems to find a note that doesn't work then plays around with it. he does that a few times

  • Stewart just friggin' attacks his drums, SWEET!

  • Absolutely love the early stuff.I saw them at " MY Fathers Place" in Roslyn LI NY in 1979 to give away my age. Didn't realize quite how lucky I was then. What a trio, and a true trio back then with nothing else being piped in as with many trios.

  • As a Three Man show they got such a Big, big sound...

Fantastic Band!..Sting would bring the whole crowd in singing some of the repeats...I can still hear people's woes and cries coming off the trains after a concert in my homecountry..:-)

  • agree with explorefrock78

  • waw, i love police, best band of 80's

  • Fantastic, just whish the sound was better, but thanks for posting this vid.

  • How cool, I rarely see Andy do lead solos. I like that sound he got with the delay and overdrive

  • note Matthew had to say welcome to this three men show-controversy....................

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee aguanten lo policiaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • fucking awesome!!!!!!!

  • this is my favourite version olf this song

  • This was shown on the US Nickelodeon channel in the fall of 1981 when I was 14.... Solidified my endless passion for this band.

  • ive been a life long fan man. great to have you aboard... when i mean lifelong i mean as a 4 year old in 1984 distinctly recognizing "every little thing she does as magic" especially the chanting near the end ... then singing "wheels on the bus" after hahaha!

  • Do you all realize that The Police's first EVER American concert was at the Theatre of The Living Arts on South Street in Philadelphia in 1979??? Rock on Philly!!

  • get out!? hell yeah south street philly!

  • @bds1167 Awesome!

  • Dude that is SO cool! Been a fan since the late 70s/early 80s when I was around 12, used to use my mothers knitting needles to drum along to 12" vinyl Outlandos & Regatta albums! I took up guitar & played hard rock in my teens. Go figure? Still rate Stuart as the greatest EVER drummer, even without bias.

  • police destapando el tarro de las esencias

  • de acuerdo con sting860,están a otro nivel, viva The Police!

  • is Sting playing with a pick_?!

  • I think he is, coz when he played peanuts in this show his bass line is rly fast and he wasnt using his fingers.

  • always

  • this is by far the coolest police vid i've seen. which is actually sayin quite a bit

  • agreed

  • One of Sting's ongoing issues with Stewart Copeland was that he would always rush the tempo when playing live. Sting liked to slow the songs down, but Copeland really pushed the beat to the point Sting had trouble at times keeping up.

  • yep. I read that too.

  • What do ye all think of the guitar solo? Is he deliberately sticking in "wrong" notes, or are they genuine fk ups?

  • the police always play their songs faster than the recorded version...

  • what a sick ass song. its one of their best, glad they played it when i sawï»
