I know there's a clearer version of this on youtube the same length but I can't remember what the dude made the title, something about the musik Garden or whatever, if anyone knows reply?
Since Stewart Copeland was so unliked by Sting & Andy, I always felt he got short-changed for his INCREDIBLE drumming skills ~ AND his overall musicall talents; but above all - just watch how well he bangs those drums... AWESOME!
I've listened to this gem since it was released but today is the first day I heard it as a drummer . it was close to a religous experience , the little hairs on my arms and neck stood at attention!I love this song, and thats a total departure from what I listen to.
i was also having a great time in 2007; i was in the audience, bought a beer and drank it on sting. I thing stings knows this, he was looking at the audience
THIS my friends,is what "classic" 70's music-videos is ALL ABOUT!! Don't BELIEVE ME?? LOL. Take a look at Andy Sumners Broken guitar-strings on his tuning-head!! LOL. TODAY'S musicians FIRST hand there thousand dollar guitars to there "guitar-tech" who changes the strings FOR THEM instead of doing it there EGO-DRIVEN SELVES!! LOL. GREAT VIDEO!!!!
Saw them in Syracuse in October 1978 at the Firebarn. There were about 20 people in the place. Think I paid $2 to get in. They were great. And we all danced together.
@sixidiotstom Stewart is absolutely cranking on the drums while making an attempt to sing (background obviously). No drummer in history has ever sung well while playing the drums at this level. Hard breathing doesn't allow for proper vocals. If we're talking Don Henley, that's different. Great voice, can't play. There's many. The best drummer/lead vocalist in history is Phil Collins. No 2nd place worth mentioning. Obviously not at the same time live enter Chester Thompson on drums.
@SterlingRe don henley is a good drummer, very solid, he plays for the band... i never liked phil collins as a drummer i must say... but everyone has another opinion and thats ok ;)
@sixidiotstom I completely respect your right to your opinion and of course taste is involved too. However you might might feel about Phil as a drummer though, he's on another planet compared to Henley. You will "never" hear Henley's name come up in drumming conversations. Phil's a bonafide player. I do think Don's an excellent singer. Sticking to this tread. Stewart's a beast and you don't hear quality background vocals from a drummer who's playing so hard, even if they have a decent voice.
I'm lonely too;( Gonna try my best to make this into a positive thing like you did sting... Incredible talent I'll try to emulate somehow. Love you.
I'm 45 years old still rockin and these guys defined me as a musician! I'm a drummer so Stewart was and still is my hero! These guys were the Beatles for me! BTW: I love the Beatles! I just wish Sting would realize the magic is at best when he's with Stewart and Andy. I respect a love Sting's solo stuff however it's getting a bit old and worn out and for me The Police never did! Sting save us all and write another chapter in music with these guys!
I saw them play in a shitty club in Ft. Lauderdale called "Fat Cats" back then they were touring in a van and inviting the audience to their motel afterwards to party. Sting sat at my table during a break and I bought him a beer . They were awesome !
Yea ! They were all very down to earth. I knew these guys were going to make it big so I bought one of their T-shirts which they all signed. They even announced what motel they were staying in so the audience could come and party with them after the show. The club was tiny and there were maybe twenty people there at the most.
@jrgvillalba On that same tour, they were booked to play the Paramount in Portland, Oregon. All I knew about them is they were New Wave but somehow also reggae. They couldn't sell enough tickets and the show was cancelled, one of the big disappointments of my life.
You "young pups" don't remember what these guys were to the "new age". So inovative, so new, this band was and still is the transitional band. They go from punk to new age seamlessly.
