OH GOD I remember renting this game as a kid and just saying fuck it to returning it. My grandmother had to pay like $50 in late fees the next time she tried to rent a movie though lol
I think this was probably the 2nd or 3rd most-played game I had for my genesis.
This is one of the most wicked games ever made!! Childhood friends and I would stay up all sorts of hours past midnight playing this and watching the Sandlot (a movie). Stuff nostalgia is indeed made of.
I remember when I got my Sega Genesis, and this was one of the two games that came with it - the other being Sonic 2. I also remember when I was a friend's place when I was about 13 or 14, and he had some rap cd on - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, I later found out - and I was like, "Holy shit, these rappers totally ripped off Sega!" I've always wondered if they ever gave credit where credit was due.
this game was bangin had it when it came out sum wicked finishers the beats are hot too (evry1 knows they used to reset thier mega drive to see the different carachters destroy the sega sign)
definitley, great concept too i remember my older brother got this game when it came out, and i still have that same game along with all of our old console games, including 327 NES games ;)
Hey the song near the end of the video reminds me of the rap song Eternal. I wonder who is the flute player who played that song originally? I like the flute version alot better. I wish they'd remake this game for PS3 and Xbox 360. That would be cool! They could call it Eternal Champions:Rebirth or something like that.
I turned that zombie guy's theme into a love song for my first girlfriend. That silly nonsense was called 'forever love' - she dumped me shortly after she heard it. Thought i'd share... EAST 1999 ETERNAL!!!!
Didn't know they had a sequel, but I do remember this game for the level fatalities. Some fun music here, too. I also thought the trenchcoat guy was cool.
OMG OMFG I remember renting this game back in the day. The last track on here was the track that I remember the most. This game is awesome. I was defeated a lot, but so what... at least I was good at clayfighter, lololol.... oh the old school fighters... they had so much more character, imo. More interesting too.

I now realized that, all along, I was only playing the game to hear its music. Especially the intro theme, it freaking ROCKS.

One of the best fighting game soundtracks. This game was seriously underrated for its time.

The song at 8:27 is one of my favorite video game songs of all time. Say what you will about the quality of the game but the music was phenomenal.
reelmojo 2 years ago 2
yeah that's my favourite too, the music that plays over the biographies. Gives depth to the way all the characters have died.
murphy341 2 years ago
Totally agree. Completely forgot about the strength of the soundtrack til I listened to all of this.
I remember reading through the biographies and actually sympathising with videogame characters on the strength of the music that accompanied it.

Hell yeah! Listen 2 a song called Eternal by BTNH. It contains a sample from that. Its my beat of all time.

doppleganger4827 3 years ago
It wasn't so much a sequel as rather a remake, if you mean the Sega CD game, which had kickass music and more gore.
And god I love this game way too much, I wish Sega revived this.

I miss this, they should continue to make this on ps2 games and wii and on all the newer games systems.

The music of EC is definitely a noteworthy one as far as game music goes. It's sadly overlooked, but you made a nice compilation.
Blade's theme as reminds me of Vietnam War footage for some reason. It's very melancholy for a rock song.
