By the way, there's an emulator which supports backspacing in time. It's called NESCafe. Also, Nestopia can backspace in time when you enable the Rewinder in the Timing Options. This evokes a real Braid feeling! Every emulator should support this, right?
@flamingtshirtgun your right, life needs save states! id have one for that one time with my gf, that time my freind fell with his lunch tray, and that one time i got caught by the fbi for stuff on my computer... also minecraft needs it!
after finishing Braid I had it's mechanics stuck in my head so bad I was applying it to the real world, it took several days of reminding myself I wasn't rewinding time.
@kamuinoyume I totally did the same. It got so I was being a bit reckless with every day things because part of my brain thought I could just rewind it
@Alvaris I wouldn't approve of it as a mechanic in campaign modes and ESPECIALLY NOT IN MULTIPLAYER, but if this was a tool used in training, you could stamp out the flaws in your play much faster. Like it showed with that Mario level. If a specific point in it is giving you trouble, you could use the rewind function to keep trying on it instead of having to work your way back up to it every time. Hell, people should hack versions of every major multiplayer game that lets you rewind in training.
The ability to control time would be very useful in real life e.g. avoiding car accedents, asking someone out who already has a girlfriend, buying games/DVDs that you think are brilliant but are actually crap etc.
Whenever I play Braid for a while, I strangely fail at anything I attempt to do after. It's easy to grow accustomed to just being able to reverse everything. Great job with this!
Shit, i'd write the lottery numbers down, reverse time and play that ticket!

It would have been more authentic if the reversed scene had the same speed instead of being faster. Also, it should have been black and white.

I wouldn't really call them "Braid Mechanics", Prince of Persia and Timeshift, among others, did the same thing before.
Omega52 1 year ago
unfortunately even with time manipulation abilities much like braid you still can't unsee a rick roll because you still would remember watching it :o
