such a pointless race to face a 400,000 pound 747-400F against a shitty porsche of course the porsche is gonna take the lead it weighs like 2 tons? when the 747's engines have to push 400,000 with 58,000 pounds of thrust at each engine? why dont you race a 747 across the Atlantic? see who gets across it first? with the 747 cruising at 500MPH good luck, wana race a jet on the ground? race a F-18 or a F-22, much faster acceleration i wish the 747's jet blast would have flipped that porsche.

Hey Guys. All valid points. This race was conceived between friends. One that had a B747 and a guy that had a Porsche race car. Jett 8 were convinced they could do it as the plane was severely stripped out, and the engines were on FULL power before the Jet started to move. On the day, the engines were not quite operational and the race needed to be restarted.

It is true that a longer race will make the plane win. Shorter race will see the car winning. Though we found this distance to be fair.

That looks like a 747-400 wich at a minimum need to be going 180 MPH to take off. The plane really won the race as it achieved 180 MPH in less space. The 747-400 can reach speeds over 600 MPH.

So stupid. Of course the Porsche is going to win a short race, but the obvious winner was the Boeing 747. In spite of being considerably larger and heavier, it not only rotated in to the air, it also continued to accelerate. Thats a coolness factor the Porsche can not attain.

It's really cheep when they make these races really short, but it's all funny tho, if you were to compare the two in say the 2 mile run... yea this was just a short drag which really only gets some measurements and if they did this over the long run and graphed it you would see what I mean.

That car got owned actually. that plane has a basic empty weight of 180 tonnes. Considering there were at least 2 pilots and at least 20 tonnes of fuel, thats 200 tonnes those engines have to push of the start line. Also you have to take into consideration the thrust delay..it takes a while for the engines to reach take-off thrust from Idle. its fun for spectators but for us pilots its irrelevant...that plane takes off at bout 270Km/h.....after that its bye bye mr Porsche!

The means of propulsion are to different to make a comparrison. Besides, it would be fun to se how fast a 747 could actually go on a stretch of asphalt without taking off.
