The rubber-tyre (tire to Americans) system definitely helps! It certainly provided better adhesion and acceleration than the steel-on-steel conventional trains of the time when the metro was opened (1969). New York Subway probably has trains this old, and older - and these will not match the accelaration of 1969-built rubber tyre trains.

Nowadays, steel-on-steel is getting better. If the metro had been built now instead of 1969, it may well have been steel-on-steel instead.

Yes - probably more so than for London's Underground. The pollution in Mexico City is bad enough as it is (I've learned about this in Geography) and would be even worse without the metro (i.e more buses and cars churning out all those pollutants)

It's actually right under 20 american cent. 10.35 Pesos = 1 USD. 1 metro ticket is 2 pesos. why are american transportation systems so expensive? It is definatly not the gas situation.

in that case juanserz the one from germany is way faster then new yorks and better.. but the only thing that no subway can compete with mexico's is the price. you will be surprice how much you have to pay to get the subway.... i leave that for you as homework.... hehehe

Dude!! You are just ignorant! First, learn how to write in English correctly and then judge. I lived in DF for two years and then returned to New Zealand. DF is great including its subway.
