@JominatorXS I heard the rumors too, but sadly I'm only two books in, so I wouldn't know the truth. He definitely left a big impression after his debut in Clash of Kings though and from his interaction with Arya, I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow is Syrio Florel, or is at least related to him in some way.

I remember when I first saw this episode and I kept rewinding this scene cuz I couldn't get enough of it and it was the perfect ending to the season. Now I'm counting down the days till season two comes out just to see more of them.
In the show, Arya threatens Hot Pie a little, and Gendry comes to scare him off. In the book, Arya threatens Hot Pie and scares him off, then beats the crap out of the other kid with a wooden practice sword until his limbs are broken, and Yoren pulls her away and lashes her. He then keeps the boys away from her "for their own protection". It seems she was just too badass in the books, and the show just wants to tone it down.
@Rhulad Not really; I would say the main reason they didn't include that specific scene in the series was because of the lashing scene (quite obviously the case) - she still comes across as a young wolf in the scene though, as she was prepared to skewer Hot Pie. She still shows her "ferocity" in other scenes in the show though, and really this is nothing, we don't get to see her real badass nature in the books until the later books.
@metamorphiclouds Also, this highlights the relationship between Arya and Gendry much better as well. In terms of character development, it's a pivotal scene.
@corvus13 Well, Gendry is described in the books as being the same age as Robb, and retaining some of Robert's mannerisms. There are actually artist illustrations of him that look exactly like the show's portrayal. One of my favorite series castings.
I dunno what'll happen when she hits puberty in a place filled with men. How she'll be able to hide the fact that her body never gets meatier, or her voice lower is a curious thing.
Arya has to be my favorite character in this series. She holds all the noblest and most admirable qualities anyone ever shows through out the Ice and Fire novels. And this was the first few steps on a long long walk. Why she hasn't even started praying yet. "Valar Dohaeris"
I have not read the books myself but am tempted ..So I don't know if she lives long enough to get revenge but the author is one who sticks to realism in how life turns out for many of the characters....Stark was a good man and being good and trying to do right got him fucked over as is prone to happen in life..believe me I know ..Oh and I was told the series sticks close to the books

@JominatorXS I heard the rumors too, but sadly I'm only two books in, so I wouldn't know the truth. He definitely left a big impression after his debut in Clash of Kings though and from his interaction with Arya, I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow is Syrio Florel, or is at least related to him in some way.

@BabyBoyIced ugh i hope she doesn't get raped this is why i am scared to go further in the books, Arya is the only stark i even remotely like, beside John Snow but he doesn't consider himself one really so neither will I. I figure she'll end up dead since she's my favorite character from a house besides Tyrion, i like the rest of the Lannisters more than Starks, even Joffrey, at least he is good at making you despise him, and Jamie Lannister is a total badass aswell!

I remember when I first saw this episode and I kept rewinding this scene cuz I couldn't get enough of it and it was the perfect ending to the season. Now I'm counting down the days till season two comes out just to see more of them.

In the show, Arya threatens Hot Pie a little, and Gendry comes to scare him off. In the book, Arya threatens Hot Pie and scares him off, then beats the crap out of the other kid with a wooden practice sword until his limbs are broken, and Yoren pulls her away and lashes her. He then keeps the boys away from her "for their own protection". It seems she was just too badass in the books, and the show just wants to tone it down.

@Rhulad Not really; I would say the main reason they didn't include that specific scene in the series was because of the lashing scene (quite obviously the case) - she still comes across as a young wolf in the scene though, as she was prepared to skewer Hot Pie. She still shows her "ferocity" in other scenes in the show though, and really this is nothing, we don't get to see her real badass nature in the books until the later books.

@corvus13 Well, Gendry is described in the books as being the same age as Robb, and retaining some of Robert's mannerisms. There are actually artist illustrations of him that look exactly like the show's portrayal. One of my favorite series castings.

I have not read the books myself but am tempted ..So I don't know if she lives long enough to get revenge but the author is one who sticks to realism in how life turns out for many of the characters....Stark was a good man and being good and trying to do right got him fucked over as is prone to happen in life..believe me I know ..Oh and I was told the series sticks close to the books
