My dad and I went to Niarobi awhile ago for a missons trip. I was only 14. I didn't understand everything I was seeing. But I did understand that these people need help. They are living in conditions that you would never think was possible. Everyone who thinks we shouldnt help these people anymore, why don't you go live in a slum for a couple years and see what it feels like. Then see if you would want some help!

If you can't feed 1 child, does it make any kind of sense to have 4 more? I think the lack of common sense is the biggest problem with the poorest countries in the world. They all have the highest birthrates. Its very hard to feel sympathy for them when they continue to make their own problems, and the world's problems, even worse. That would also cover 'ignorance', too.

In fact we have 20 people going there in April to help them funded completely out of our own pockets and fundraised with 100% of all proceeds going to building projects, clothing, etc. Unfortunately SOME Church's have given a bad name to ALL. I've been to Kibera-it was the most amazing experience of my life. These people have so little and yet love so much. Every day is a gift to them and they live a life that refelects that. It's beautiful!

They really really need our help this year as the government are proposing to demolish parts of the slum but not give homes to the people who will be affected-this is the biggest problem at the moment. Keep praying and give if you can!

the description, as well as the portrayal of kenya, are somewhat off. kenya is not as underdeveloped as described and although kibera, the slum shown, is one of the largest ones in africa, it is not a bad place- numerous NGO's provide their services there. also.. there's many children there who are healthy and happy. i understand you want to raise money but do you really have to misrepresent a whole country so you can do that?
