wwe07863, Got a lot of history to share with you! Amateur & pro wrestling have common roots. It changed forever in the 1920's when the pro promoters needed to make more money, and keep their athletes from really being hurt. So, they prearranged matches and started scripting them, at least basically if not move-for-move. Not quite the same as "fixed" matches in the boxing game.
Amateur wrestling stuck with strict rules, not allowing grand-stand tactics, hitting, etc. My book explains this.
Is there any promotion or organization in the world that does shoot-only matches; i.e. Exact same rules as you see in places like WWE, the only difference being that the wrestling is legit instead of worked?
@Sanguiluna It's called Pancrase but they adopted pure MMA rules in the early 2000's. It was interesting watching wrestlers in a non-worked match like that with real strikes and submission attempts.
Man I was not born till 1981. I became a big fan of Wrestling WWF since 1995. Then I liked WWE for so many years. I did not know wrestling was older then WWF? WOW! Only 5 guys I use to like was Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Rick Flair, Rowdy Piper, and Undertaker! So yeah. I never knew the names of these pastime wrestlers before the 1980s. wow this is great thanks.
Great mat wrestling. The old pro wrestlers really knew how to wrestle and in particular knew how to use their legs for the best advantage. Thanks for posting!

How cool to see wrestling before they changed it to appeal to TRASH! What a shame though, it could have been a respected sport now.
