Feels like a pretty stupid question, but do you need basic communicating skills in japanese to start studying? Or are most students total beginners in the japanese language upon arrival? I'm really considering taking the opportunity to study in Japan but my current knowledge of the language is very poor.

@omgbehindya Actually you just need to know the two basic alphabets, Hiragana and Katakana. Because you wll be devided in groups depending on your japanese knowledge. But as always the more you know, before applying to a language course, the better. Hope this answer was good enough for you :)

@SUpersaiyajinjerkbag So sorry, but we here in Japan have a STRICT quota on how many fags we allow in here. You would undoubtedly put us over the top.

@SUpersaiyajinjerkbag It´s very easy to enroll, just go to google search for the ISI language school HQ in your country. Yes, you get a studen visa and the cost do vary depending on which location the ISI school you are applying to is located in japan. And they mainly do laguage courses. but if you do want to study further i think you have to apply to a course through the school and go from there after the language course is finished.
