It's amusing how the same man also sang Jhoom Barabar Jhoom sharabi promoting alcoholism and defying all social norms of good conduct. I hope this one came after it 'cos it's beautiful and would be good to know this song is a lesson he himself learnt.

You don't seem to be in the know. In Islamic parlance, reference to anything, or any connotation to alcohol is prohibited, unless the implication is outwardly negative. There isn't much scholars have to interpret in it, it's very obvious and explicit wherever it is mentioned in the scriptures. Sufism of this sort is deviance. True sufism doesn't involve music, drugs and dance. This is like Eastern Rock n Rolla.

If I am not mistaken, Aziz Nazan sang this in early 80s, I have that album on tape, but this does not match with a lot of instrumentals from original. This must be his son---Zahid Nazan who may have sung this ...like he did for a lot of his dad's tracks. I could be wrong.....anyway, it is still very acoustic.
