More than I ever wanted to know about your toilet. I wonder if the upgrade .... HM150 ... has image stabilizaton. It's one of the last of the 3ccd cameras. Sales Guy up at bhphoto said manufacturers are saving a cool billion going CMOS, but spend an hour on youtube and you can see the quality difference.
Woooow! Very nice! I have the same cam. What settings did you use(zoom, iris, shutter, gain) when filming? Anyway i love this camera, it's very good. The only bad thing about it is the deep DOF. Deep DOF is nice to have, but when there is a closeup of two people talking, you need shallow DOF so i use Canon 5D Mk II there. For everything else this camera. If i do documentary like video i just put a wide angle lens on this camera and it's all i need.
Actually, canon says they have incorperated an OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). My questions are I know it works poorly in low light situations because of the 1/4" chip do you know the ASA/ISO which I couldn't find? And how hard is it to throw things out of focus (i.e. open aperture, length of lens)? thanks, great footage.
Awesome!!! I just bought this camera on ebay used, with an extra battery and 8gb sd card. I also have 2 16gb class 10 cards. So stoked to get this camera! Ill have it by Tuesday!! It will end up around 3000 with the duties. So excited! Awesome video!
I actually shot zero budget short film with a wheelchair as a dolly. I've also seen a rig you could make from a tripod mount, plywood, skateboard wheels and PVC pipe.
Nice job, great images. I bought this camera a few weeks ago and I love it.
Only major con is that it's not that good for hand held stuff. There's no stabilizer on the camera so a lot of the stuff iv done hand held with it just looks WAYYY too shaky and digital looking for my tastes.
And no, there is no lens adapter. That's the camera out of the box.
is this used with the stock lense? this is amazing i was not expecting this out of such a small camera..dont get me wrong JVC makes some very good stuff but i wasnt expecting this. good job
Yes! I would like to know what settings you used. and where did you purchase the camera and for how much (3500??4k??less??))any accessorizes? did you edit your film in final cut pro(ver.?)
The camera was purchased by a producer I frequently work with, and $2800 from JVC. The settings i used were gamma: cinema, knee: high, telephoto/macro was on, low gain (i had it set to zero) I shot on 1/150 shutter, and my iris was wide open.
Stock lens, no color correction, and yes edited on final cut pro.
It's a nifty little camera. The best thing about it is that it records everything to .mov files, so you just have to drag and drop into your capture scratch and you have the clips ready to go for final cut pro.

Just got one of these today... Looking forward to my first project with it...
The toilet shot is nice, lol... Did you use a dolly or steady cam for that?
NYGIANTPRIDE 2 years ago
@NYGIANTPRIDE It's a home made dolly I made a few years back.
And yeah I shot 108024p

I'm really thinking about getting this cam. Any major cons? And are you using a lens adapter on this?

@AtomicIlk According to the JVC Web site, the GY-HM100U does have an optical image stabilization.

Nicely done.
Were the blue colored scenes shot "day for night" style, or were they actually more of actual low light shots? Thanks!
divisionalmedia 2 years ago
They were low light shots. I shot everything at around 11 o clock at night, and it's all gel'd lighting. No color correction.
