I like the idea for using the brake mount to ad a bracket. I am guessing the screw was long enough. I got an under seat bag, but my shocks have bottomed out on it a few times.
@benton386 I replaced the bolts with slightly longer ones and added a washer between the new bracket and the top of the spacer in the break lever. The existing spacer acts as a stopper so you can tighten without inhibiting the action of the lever. The washer will stabilize and give the aluminum bar clearance so as to not interfere with the break lever. Is your bag hitting something or is the weight bottoming out the suspension??
Stainless is expensive in Japan too. At least the four stainless Japanese shelf supports (6" x 6") I just ordered cost me $30 @. Maybe it's because they're imported. You think they'd make such things in the U.S.
@Dwarvenchef Mine can carry 50 pounds, I have done it, so I figure that one I built in the video could handle about 20 - 30. Load it a little at a time and see how it reacts. The bike will handle weird at higher weights but its really useful when bringing home two full panniers of groceries. Yes that includes a six pack of tall cans no lie:P

This vlog inspired me to come up with this joke/line/misunderstanding: "Hey your girlfriend has a NICE RACK....on her bike."

Muy interesante, me recordo los buenos viejos tiempos en que yo arreglaba las bicicletas de los niños, cerca de mi casa.
Very interesting, I remember the good old days when I managed the children's bicycles, near my home.
