Ooooo, they won't let me post the link, though it is at the Neal A. Maxwell Institute, or you can google it as FARMS, and in their "search" section on the upper right type in Nephi Egyptian and John Gee's article on the meaning of the name Nephi comes up.
Pretty good. Qedeshim may however refer to those who tend or inhabit (Deity or priest) the holy places associated with cultic practice (say temple) . QDS(h), means "sacred place" or "sanctuary" in Ugaritic, and to my awareness Ugarit had no QDShM, and if it did, it could conceivably mean the dual or plural, and not as meaning "Those of the holy places". The QDSh must also be separated from BT or BHT (house or dwelling place) and HKL(Palace, Castle)....
@CadaverSplatter (continued) It can be argued they can contextually refer to the same thing, and I can agree with that in terms of BHT and HKL, especially in reference to the erecting of BAL's palace. However, in no text have I found (I can read Ugaritic, but i haven't read all of the material, as it isn't all published yet) QDS and HKL/BHT used interchangeably. The three uses of QDS that I can recall are associated in the Baal Cycle with the dwelling place of El...
@CadaverSplatter (continued)..., BAL's mountain (not his House or palace) SPN, and various references to Holy sites, perhaps associated with Natural places. If we think of QDS as exemplified by ILs dwelling place (or at least his planning room), we do indeed have a meeting place of the decisions and meetings of the Gods, for example 'ThRT and 'NT (Atheratu and Anatu) go to to the ILM.QDSh (sanctuary of the gods). In that sense I can see a plausible background for the Quadeshim as...
@CadaverSplatter (cont.)... "those of the Sanctuary". I must however admit I can only read Ugaritic, and not biblical Hebrew. It may be my next project, unless i decide to go with Akkkadian instead (but who wants to remember hundreds of symbols?)
As for the Mormon stuff, "Nephi" is probably a corruption of "Nephilim", and may be a misunderstanding of a proper name with a plural based on whatever scholarship was made available to Smith. I'd drop the Mormon texts altogether for comparative study.
@TheBackyardProfessor Do you have a reference for that? Nephi sounds semitic, and there are a few renderings of 'Neph-like' names in the King James Version.
The "gods" that are spoken of in the Old testament are human rulers, not literal deities. Also, the word translated "gods" is Elohim, so unless you want to admit that Elohim is not the father, but many gods, you will have to adjust your thinking.
yes, those are among the uses of the word, but to say that the Bible advocates the existence of multiple gods by using the word elohim is ludicrous, and for a Mormon to use those verses to advocate that doctrine is an even larger blunder, because in their "theology" "Elohim" is a proper name for the father of Jesus.
Elohim is used in chapter one in genesis THEN IN CHAPTER TWO ,YHVH ELOHIM is used as title, yes i agree that there based on that there is one G-d. The 7 days of creation are its g-ds that is aspects of itself.
Lol...... gee some sources from Bible scholars would help your case. I do't know very much, but the scholars I read and use certainly do. I know them, but who are you?
BYP do you have any more vids about the book of Lehi or thats what I think it whould be called??. keep makeing your vids as the help me know where are comeing from and why :) thanks for them
(Continued) That being said, you Mormons also (along with catholics) need to leave your cult and trust in Christ ALONE to save you. Not your baptism and good works. 2Nephi25:23 is a contradiction to eph. 2:8-9. Joe Smith lied to you! Now repent and leave your "church" that was founded by the evil serpent himself.
(Continued) The ten headed kingdom of Revelation 17, Daniel 2, and Daniel 7 is anything BUT a fulfillment of thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. It is neither the Kingdom of God nor the Kingdom of HEAVEN; it is nothing but an unsheeted religious Hell.
Rome today, as always, has nothing but the empty and hypocritical profession of being Christian, and being the political ruler of Christendom. She has no Kingdom of HEAVEN, for she only reigns over the kings of the earth (Rev. 17:18). This power is the permissive power which God delegates to her to operate as a harlot and mother of abominations (Rev. 17:4-5).
So far as I understand its meaning to be realizing the existence of many gods, but only worshipping one God. That is Henotheism. Then yes, the ancient Israelites, and modern restoration e.g. Mormonism, is Henotheism.
Wrong. This is a fundamental belief of judaism, going straight back to sinai. Then again I wouldn't expect you to know much about judaism, so there ya go.
LOL! Oh my.....well, I shall have to throw gallons of medicine your way then, because I have a whole slew of new materials I acquired on this that I will video.
"And being thus overcome with the Spirit, he was carried away in a vision, even that he saw the heavens open, and he thought he saw God sitting upon his throne, surrounded with numberless concourses of angels in the attitude of singing and praising their God. "

so you think there would be more Council of the Gods in the lost 116 pages?
omiolo 1 year ago
The ''council'' referred to is the Canaanite council that the Bible scribes borrowed from the Cannanites.

Exactaly.
In the same way it says 'let us create man in our image' the plural elohim is used. It's essentially a term of endearment towards the creator.
ipwnnewbs50 2 years ago
Elohim also means Rulers , Judges , Kings, Angels etc, so i think you have to adjust your thinking !

so perhaps the god of the bible is simply just a king not any thing more

Nope. Just about all who are scholars on the subject shows they are henotheists. Take your unfounded atheistical beliefs somewhere else.

Not yet but I could produce one if you really want me to.

The bible repeatedly refers to faith in Christ, repentance and baptism as essential to our salvation. We simply follow the revealed word of God.
The Holy Ghost does not lie.

Then what is it?
"The stone that was cut out without hands".
God would bring about that final kingdom. It is building up today.

The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven are NOT the same. The Jews rejects the Kingdom of Heaven and it is established at the Second Advent.
