  • I giggled when the red piece rolled up in the end. That was funny. I just purchased an Innovation Knitting Machine and I like it. I am looking to see what other contraptions they have out there for knitting, do you know of any?

  • @32ShamonwhiThe roll is characteristic of the stockinette knit stitch. The sides roll towards the wrong side, while the ends roll toward public side, frustrating to all who knit using any method. This is not specific to crank knitting. There are several sizes of the crank knitters from 16 needle Mattel, 18, 20, 22, 44 and 46 needle. All in similar gauge (sts/inch). Then there are the many flat bed knitters in various gauges. Then there are the knitting looms and,, of course, knitting needles.

  • @Yanna131094 Limited space here, but sure one can make a dog sweater. 1st, measure the dog length and girth. Will the 44 sts go around the dog comfortably? If not, some pattern style options come to mind. Is the neck measure much smaller than the body? I have several ideas on creating a dog sweater, but not enough room here to go into detail. Do you want to create front leg holes or create 2 pattern pieces..1 for the body & 1 for the neck and join them at shoulder & chest, leaving leg holes?

  • i use a 3 ply yarn may be to US standard 2ply but it just wont knit tightly like yours. Even if I use thicker yarn it just wont knit tightly. I hope you know what I mean

  • @ghanmy I use a worsted weight 4 ply or 3 ply yarn. This machine has about the the same gauge as US8 (5.0mm) hand knitting needles. If I use a 2ply yarn, I use 2 strands plied together. In US, many companies use a weight number system.. 1 being very fine and 5 being bulky weight. This machine will knit weight 3, 4 and some 5, if it is smooth, not nubby. I double or triple the strand when using the 1 and 2 weight yarns for some interesting tweed looks. I think are using a light wt yarn.

  • @ghanmy Another think you can try is to use the tension guide, if you are not using it now...or increase the number of rungs you involve on the tension device. I think you are just using a lighter weight yarn than I am.

  • @Barb515 Thank you very much!

  • Thank you for all your videos! I have an innovations and quite enjoy it, but you've got it mastered!!

  • Hello,

I have an experienced flatbed machine knitter, but I raise, and spin angora. Recenty I've taken my waste fiber and made lumpy novelty yarn, and hats from that. I can hand knit one in 1 evening, but this would be faster. Will this machine handle lumpy novelty yarn? (Chunky)

  • Hi,

These crank knitters have abut the same gauge as an 8mm flatbed-4st and 6 rows to the inch. That's about a US 8 or 9 hand knitting needle. I have a Bulky 8 and a Bond ( my first machine). I find it is trial and error with nubby yarns. But, since you spin your own yarn, you could try. The crank knitters work best with a light WW yarn, like Caron Simply Soft. If you have a nubby sport weight, I think it could work. I like to MK adult hats from double tube (knit 2x as long & invert) Barb

  • Actually I have a Bond in the mothballs. I can dig it out and see if my lumpy yarn runs thru it before I invest in this little thing. All my other machines are standard gauge, and lumpy yarn won't go through unless you are vigilent, ever at the ready to hand pull it on through if need be. Thanks!

  • The Bond started it all for me. I have also collected several Knitsmart machines-what the Bond should have been-sweet machines. I use the crank knitters for quick tube scarfs and hats. The Innovations is off the market, but I highly recommend the Addi Express and Addi King machines if you are serious about a crank knitters. They operate so smooth & accept the heavier or nubby yarns much better, within reason. They even have row counters now, which I love! No affiliation. Barb
