I like this idea. Too bad Xmas is over . But I found another great idea that I've been using for my glittery nailpolishes . I buy some bigger hair clips and paint them with the nailpolishes . Very cute and inexpensive way to accecorise
I making this for my friends for Christmas I'll go to wallgreens when sinful colors is 99 cents and go to micheals and I'll write there names on them Christmas come soon
I can't believe I'm only seeing this now!! Damn! Oh well, I'll definitely do it for X-mas 2012. Soooo many polish ideas floating through my mind right now. Thanks so much for this Brooke!
This is such a good idea, especially if you'd like to preserve the beauty of a favorite polish, long after you've used it up. I'll definitely be trying this
if you want to save your nail polish, simply use paint and use the same technic. You can have bigger bottles of paint at the dollar store for one dollar each bottle. It's your choice if you want to try like I did. :)
They look so awesome (I TOTALLY want to make these next christmas!) but it hurts my soul seeing you pour huge amounts of beautiful polishes out of their bottles. Haha!
I made a a couple of these (: I couldn't make too many though, the nail polish fumes were getting to my head haha Anyway, I'm giving my step mom, step sis, and friend one along with the nail polish I made theirs with (:
& I accidentally bought ornaments that have a bit of a rainbow glare in them, but they still look cool.
dear anyone who is going to try this : do not use a styrofoam egg carton to let them drip into, apparently nail polish eats right through that stuff! LOL! learn from my mistakes.
did the nail polish spread out after you made them? my mom and I tried these last year with paint but the paint would just run out and not coat them.. this seems like a much prettier, less costly way to do these. thanks for sharing :)
Cold be a nice way to use the last third of your old polishes that you barely use anymore because they are to thick or you just move on another style.
@RicanStarz Of course! The only thing with nail polish is that you can use the fancy finishes for the ornaments, but I;m sure you can find some really nice paints too. (:
I did this with some clear, plastic ornaments from Hobby Lobby that were $.50 each on sale. They are smaller than yours but it worked out very well for me. Waiting for them to dry now. Thanks for sharing!!!
Oh gosh that is such a great idea! I wish my christmas shopping wasn't done already or i would send everyone in the family some! Next Christmas for sure! <3
Just thought you should know that the site BeautyLish made your ornaments into a post today and didn't give you any credit! Thumbs up so she sees this
WHY CAN'T WE GET MY PRIVATE JET OLD FORMULA ANYMORE RAWRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I remember when I first bought it, I wore it all the time. Then I got a new bottle after using up the older one and the formula was different and wasn't holographic. OPI jerks.....
Hi..I am making these now...with smaller ornaments...but was was wondering ...if you are layering with like a glitter polish..do you have to let each coat dry first b4 putting in the other color? Cause I just did a green glitter then put in a dark green after and while spinning it looked awesome but now that they are upside down drying and the left over polish that is wet is falling out in container ..the ornament color is more see through...looking...? Any tips? Please help :)
I made 12 ornaments last night. I absolutely love this idea and I will continue this tradition every year from now on. With all the colors that come out every year I might need an 8' Christmas tree just to put all the ornaments on it. Be sure to check out my page on facebook to see what I made. facebook.com/BrittanysNails,
@xCoutureQueenx I was just asking that....lol I am doing it now ...and when it is upside down drying it looks more see through.. :( I guess I will have to do a couple layers too :(
i tried this and in the morning when i looked at the ornament all of the nail polish came out and the ornament was hardly coated... epic fail by me :(
mmm this is an okay idea but thats a lot of nail polished being used up and why not just buy ornaments already made and just add the little leaf ribbons with glue?

thanks! I recently got a kitten who is 6 months old and I wanted to figure out ornaments that if he played with, or even knocked the tree over wouldnt break!
AHHH I love you this is the best idea and amazing video for a project I've seen on here! Simple idea to make an ornament but using nail polish and layering them it's just so crafty!!!
I just made some of these with my friend and we put christmas lights in it. They looked AMAZING! You should totally try that especially if you're using more light polishes.
This is amazing! I have to try it. So with the one where you used Illamasqua Kink and the Sinful Colors polish, did you have to let the Sinful Colors polish dry completely before adding Kink?
Awesome craft project! Last year SecretLifeofaBionerd made DIY ornaments with the same idea using acrylic paint and water. It was really fun (& easy) to do, as well. Endless possibilities! This is a great way to get rid of nailpolish that you would otherwise throw out. Thanks for the DIY project!!!
