  • Yes Fergie was amazing, but you cannot compare theatre to movies. There is a big difference between performing all the way through in one take live and lip syncing on film take after take. Love them both so I'd rather appreciate them both for what they are instead of pining them against each other.

  • i caught myself with my mouth like this *O*

  • Wow, I like this version a lot!!! Fergie was the first one I saw, but as for an actual stage production...this one just wins!!

  • Gotta love those kids. XD

  • Although Fergie's version was visually more effective (well obviously, it was directed by Rob Marshall), I'd prefer Kathi Moss' version cause unlike Fergie, she has to perform this song 8 times a week, live, with the same acting and the same tone. Her job is much more difficult but she still manages to give an outstanding performance. I don't think Fergie would ever been able to do that.

  • altro che fergie...

  • this is great but kind of disturbing at the same time

  • she is spectacular

  • Incredible. Kathi Moss is amazing as Saraghina. Fergie was good, not going to lie. But she didn't have that animalistic, almost ruthless persona that the broadway version/character gives it.

  • oh my god! oh my god!! oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow. this SCREAMS 1980s to me.

  • since when does being italian make you look like a fucked up 80's woman? Im italian and none of my family is at all like this its actually annoying a bit, that the writer thinks italians are like that.

    and the songs annoying

  • @Jigglesw: but no....she is just quoting a famous, almost mythological character of a Fellini's movie. She is Saraghina in Fellini's 8 1/2, which I warmly suggest you.

  • @Jigglesw

The song is not about Italian women being whores.

It's about Italians being commonly recognized as playboys.

The singer plays the part of Saraghina, a prostitute in 8 1/2, a famous Fellini movie, while she explains love to a bunch of kids. Between those childrens there's Guido, the protagonist, that will grow up as a playboy.

You have to see it in the context of the film or of the whole Broadway show. ;)

  • I'm sorry but the little boy's expression was funny. I can't take this version seriously.

  • @DoubleDerping Same thing here

  • I like her. She had me laughing out loud. I don't prefer her voice over Fergie's in the movie, but I think it fits the role in its own way.

  • oh god, is that sereghina, or the captain of the lolly pop guild. Well more like she ate the lolly pop guild

  • oh god, is that sereghina, or the captain of the lolly pop guild.

  • She's the Pied Piper of Puberty

  • I don't know if I'm wrong or someone at 2:50 have said "danza puttana"?

  • @JAMMAICACCOLA: si.

  • @JAMMAICACCOLA you t not wrong LOL it means ''DANCE YOU BITCH'' (to the singer)

  • @DiscoveryWorldHD I know what it means, I'm Italian :)

  • sexiy is better than funny

  • @edwaerin Unfortunately for you and the ppl from this timeline it is...I and so many ppl think that Funny is a better taste of freedom...

  • @catiaktita I dont think its a timeline thing just personal tase. I like funny stuff but for this sexy is better. I dont even see how this is funny. Its awkward and creepy.

  • @edwaerin Awkward and creepy? Because there isn't any sexy woman performing this scene? that's biased. Sexy doesn't always works specially in this scene cause it's more connected with the original, if you've seen the original you'll understand.

  • @catiaktita Why would it be creepy or awkward because there isnt a sexy woman? That has nothing to do with it. Dont just assume things. The little boys is what makes it creepy.

And I dont like her voice. She can obviously sing but I dont like how deep it is.

  • @edwaerin Well too bad you can't appreciate her voice it's an awesome performance, but in any case why did you commented on a video you don't like? Makes no sense.

  • @catiaktita How does that make no sense? I like the movie soundtrack so I decided to watch this and stated my opinion. Last I checked its a free country and Im allowed to do that.

  • @edwaerin YOU like the movie soundtrack. So what? IS this the movie soundtrack? NO, this is the Broadway version, not the movie version. Last I checked something called 'respect' existed.

  • @edwaerin YOU like the movie soundtrack. So what? IS this the movie soundtrack? NO, this is the Broadway version, not the movie version. Last I checked something called 'respect' existed.

  • @catiaktita What are u even talking about? How was I not being respectful? And I like the movie so obviously I would check this out.. I love broadway stuff.

  • @edwaerin Well your 1st comment about 'something you love' was sad, really...

  • she sounds like a transvestie!!!LOL!!!

  • i think rob marshall really knows how to bring sexy back

i think this might have been great for that time

  • should not be Italian?? seems Saraghina speak with an Russian accent!

  • I think a mezzosopran would be better for this piece.

  • well this is....uhm....interesting?

  • I think the first child was the bigger brother of the protagonist of E.T.

  • Please, stop the comparisions and start appreciating. This woman is well-trained. I liked Fergie too, she was powerful, but I think we are caught up in the movie media too much.

  • Perfect <3

  • lmfao!!!

  • I prefered Fergie's, Fergie's Saraghina was more convincing as a prostitute and her voice gave the song more passion and lust that fits well with the songs lyrics.

  • I wouldn't be able to say which one is better, because each one is really interesting... this one for example works with the children.... fergie's version works with the dancers.... XD

    BOTH ARE GREAT XD

  • i like fergie more better cuz she sings and dances with dancers

  • I think it depends what you want and what the artist it trying to portray. The Fergie version is tryign to be more sexy, more brushed, more hollywood. while this version is trying to be more funny and a bit more realistic. I havent seen many prostitutes that look like fergie. These versions are just different

  • Fergie wouldn't last two minutes on a Broadway stage.

Please remember, Hollywood is not like Broadway. Two very different animals.

  • @footgirlhaha Thank you so much for saying that :)

  • I think it's just as ignorantl to say that the people liking Fergie's version better are just young people.

  • this is so creepy...

  • please, don't go about throwing dards to someone's personal taste giving the excuse of someone's age. It's unrealistic and idiotic. I am relatively young and much prefer Ella Fitzgerald to Rihanna or any of her kind. Personal taste can be argued because it's something we educate ourselves, but it's not about someone's age.

  • @visualcheshire Yes,but you like different things at different age(with a few exeption of course)The tipical example is Avril Lavigne.Almost every girl at my age loved Avril when we were 12-13(though I never listened to her songs even I liked her) and now that we are older we find her songs kinda lame.same goes to tales like Snowhite and Cinderellla and with performers too. As you grow up you might understand a character better, therfore you may think differently who fits it more.sry bad english

  • @Ardenis9 I understand your point of view, however I must also add that I have a number of examples of my age that adore many different things at the same time - just like me. I like metal, opera and jazz (just some examples). I don't really know how far our points of view stand correct, though^^~

  • @visualcheshire I think we're both right. I never liked either when people dismissed my oppinion right after they realised how old I was... I know it is annoying but it has some truth in it:D:D(and dont get me wrong I like many different things also...its just there are a few things that you like'cause of your age)But I really dont want to argue too much about it:D You right, Im right... so what's the big deal:D

  • i think both versions have their merits, this version fits the style and motif of the play but fergies fits the style and motif of the movie

in the same way catherine zeeta joneses version of all that jazz is as good as cheeta riveras the difference between the stage and the screen of any musical song is on stage theres passion and room for the performer to adlib, in the movies its clear the vocals have been polished and given a little help

  • I'm a young peron (17) and I'll tell you why i like Fergie's version a little more.

It's more sexualised/sexy and the cinematography is stunning.

btw, rihanna is crap.she can suck my ....

  • Tranny bitch. lol.

  • I love musicals but i hate the movie, this is by far much better.

  • hahahahaha REALLY FUNNY! I LOVE THIS!

  • I'll bet those who like Fergie's better are young people. They'd likely prefer Rihianna over Ella Fitzgerald. 'Nuf said.

  • I feel as though Kathi Moss took a more comical version of the roll

  • @Selana

its always the same with all musicalls adapted from brodway to the movies.

at least the Rob Marshall musicalls

they musicalls numbers unstage are funnier and in the movies are sexier.

    check chicago

when we see the movies before the satge versions at the begining are disapointing but latter you get used to them and get better with time

  • i can't understant it like in the movie

  • fergies version is better

  • Fergie's was ok, but I prefer the original completely.

  • Ferige's version was more 21st century, This one was Fellini's Saraghina.

  • the fergie version is sexier and really beautiful to look at but this is very very charming

  • Whoa...the movie is so much different. I think the movie is somewhat darker and more hardcord-ish, for lack of a better word.

  • some people may think fergie's version was better, but i think this one is awesome.

  • fergie soo much fricken better

  • fergies is way better than this

  • I'v never-ever heard a voice more great and superb

  • Fergies was good but I prefer this, it's way funnier and more tongue in cheek.

  • 1982 - 2009 = 27 years ago. This is fabulous theater for any time but clearly Fergie's version takes the obvious route and plays up the meaty sexual Italian whore which is expected in 2009. In the inter-cut beach scene when she's on all fours and jiggles her breasts punctuating the music - amazing. So perfect.

  • Fergie is WAY better

  • no....she is diferent....this is the way it supost to be......the whore is fellinni's life wasb like thid.

  • i like this piece way better than the one in the movie, i agree that Fergie's singing has more fire in it (more "italian";) but this rocks!

  • FERGIE ROCKS!

  • Truly sexy for it's time!

  • Fergies version is so much better, I really get how good Fergie is when I see this. <3

  • I kinda liked Fergie's version way better!

  • @jdthemindfreak No offence but i don't agree at all. this has all the verces.

  • @jdthemindfreak I totally agree. Fergie's version was a lot better!

  • I think it depends what you want and what the artist it trying to portray. The Fergie version is tryign to be more sexy, more brushed, more hollywood. while this version is trying to be more funny and a bit more realistic. I havent seen many prostitutes that look like fergie. These versions are just different but equally good when you compare them to what the artists are going for.

  • @rubiomasgrande Actually (and this is my opinion, so it's not true), the big difference is in style. I don't think Rob Marshall was going for sexy when he did it with Fergie. I think the movie was trying to bring out the passion that Saraghina is saying ALL Italians have.

  • @rubiomasgrande Or so she says.

  • @jdthemindfreak Shut up please! Thanks

  • @tnotbis Um, this girl is NO WHERE close to Fergie ;)

  • @jdthemindfreak So do I. It's more sensual and I like how the music was built up more. And I don't think I'm being biased because I disliked the movie lol But something for me is not clicking here. It's unsexy and her voice... I don't know... doesn't fit the song?

  • @jdthemindfreak Maybe, but nobody can beat Broadway ;)

  • this is right...not fergie

  • Im so glad to watch these clips after the way the film was butchered. Leaving out the bells os st sabastian ripped the heart and soul from this master piece

  • she's really much better than Fergie, even though i like the movie very much. ;)

this one is sort of funny ;)

  • Saraghina must be like her: a sort of animal-like-over-sized 40 year old woman. If you saw the original in Fellini's 8 1/2 you'll understand.

  • @gianca60 That's right!!!

  • well its way better than the film thats for sure, they made fergies character look like a peedo

  • she is. technically. shes a prostitute and she sleeps with a 9 year old.

  • Love this. She's so amazing lol. Also, the little boys' costumes look like SIngle Ladies.

  • What a great show! Thank you for posting this!

  • Kathi Moss, what a gal.... they censored the choreography a little for the Tony Award broadcast and sped up the tempo from the show, but it's great to have this.

  • WOW!!

Does anyone know what this was filmed for? Like an award show or something?

  • It's the tony's telecast

  • la sua voce è così bella, così tanto

  • Oh my, she is incredible!
