  • fkn amazin!!!

  • I have ableton 7. will it work with that?

  • @GuitarFreak1901 There is a plug-in on the Ableton website, I believe.

  • How the fuck does this work lol

  • If it's as easy as this guy makes it look, I'll go out and buy a Launchpad and Live Suite right now. But something tells me it's not.

  • how did you get the buttons to press themselves?

  • My Launchpad is freezing on me. Why is this happening? Is it my computer that can't handle it or is it the Launchpad itself?

  • In soviet russia, launchpad controls you.

  • i already have mine, how in the hell do you do awesome stuff like this?

  • WOW!!! I probably buy one & Make a Track!

  • anybody know if the FL Studio midi function supports ableton?

  • so i heard that the Launchpad comes with its own special version of Ableton live 8. my question is, can you export your music on this version? or is it just a demo?.......getting Ableton for $150 is a fairly good price, considering that thats how much the launcpad costs.

  • amazing device!

  • QUESTION: Do you need a good computer to use this? please answer thanks:)

  • @Music4Scott Nope.

  • @Music4Scott ofcourse You need, it's just a controller :)

  • Would this work with FL Studio the same way it would with Ableton? I have both, I just prefer FL.

  • @AdamBombStudios It can work in Fl studio, just not the wayit does in ableton.

  • @BathsWithPassionPit So it will just work like a regular midi controller?

  • @AdamBombStudios Yes sir

  • How does it work? It's a masterpiece.

  • @JagexCompGameStudios basically you assign tracks or pre recorded slices to a button. not exactly sure on the specifics but you can switch the button controls for things like equality and faders and stuff like that. or have it used as a drum pad.

  • @abletoninc or anyone else. Can somebody please tell my if this controller can be used with logic, or if it's just for ableton?

  • is this better than MASCHINE?

  • @dephekt22 Yes.

  • Hey, can the Novation launchpad work with garageband?

  • at 1:20 is that beat repeat?

  • @willbeardell yea... in this video specificly he put in a few... just to add character i guess

  • Madeon brought me here to kill you all.

  • I can't grasp my head around this thing.. here's my view of it.. is it like a beatpad but with waaayy pads on it and with the controls and layers on the side?

  • MADEON!

  • want it

  • how mch is appleton?

what are the requirements for a laptop?

  • @MrSwagStep ableton live is 400 on amazon

ableton suite (everything you need) is 700 on amazon

go to ableton.com to research system reqs

  • @MrSwagStep You don't need to buy Ableton, just buy the Launchpad...it comes with a light version of Ableton Live 8. Around $100 and you are good to go and start learning....warning...once you buy one you are going to want to spend a lot more money : ) it's addictive

  • Buttons will NEVER DIE. Fuck touchscreens.

  • @captainpanic08 yes they will

  • just gone mine today, woo

  • You broke the internet...

  • Look up home made midi controllers, there are some great controllers out there!

  • does this work with torq? or without a program/computer? i wanna just take it to class and use it as a drum pad.. cause i dont want to buy maschine. ive never bought one befor but i am starting with my traktor xponent and i wanna do fancier stuff that is more involved.. i have a microkorg too

  • @JohnChaseClayton It will work with a simple virtual midi controller like Sythesia but it is best to use a program with it (ableton is included if you buy onee new)

  • Stupid question but, do you have to upload the sounds from your computer or does the launchpad already have sounds in it?

  • @RockinguitardudeSG You CAN'T upload any sounds on it - it's just a controller, it requires a PC to play sound :P

  • is this all i need for starting to mix songs? i was thinking about getting one but im not sure if i need more stuff than this do do something with it..

  • do i only need this launchpad to make my own mashup or do i need more stuff, i wanna start producing i think :o

  • I just ordered one of these from eBay USA - £110 delivered to the UK..not bad :D

  • I don't get it. Why would you need this for djing?? I mean you can just click the stuff and that's it.

  • @PSV7200 you can only lick one thing at a time though..with this you can click 10 things at a time (10 fingers)

  • @Sirk0mplex yes I know i was just kidding

  • But can it do dubstep???

  • Check out the music after the Nuclear Holocaust of 2011.

    To hear the science

    pureVolume . c o m /Radiation52216

  • Question: I'm in a band and we want to insert samples into live performances such as movie clip sounds or a sample beat I've created... Would this be useful for that?

  • Hi! I have a question... I'm a dj for almost 5 years now but i've come to the point where i want to experiment more. Not just playing one song into another but be a little more creative... Now that i've seen the launchpad it seems a fun way to work on that.

But here is my question. I have no experience with Ableton at all and i don't play an instrument so i don't know any notes...

Are there things i must try first? Is this a good thing for me? Thx!

  • watch?v=U425croRnu4 This video is using similar techniques for performance and my channel has ableton live templates for djing/electronic live performance

  • I got my launchpad a while and i love it but, for the life of me what dose he press at the end to make all the lights go nuts

  • How do that???? 0:22

  • is there reason to get this instead of an apc40(don't have either) other than price, price is a main factor but functionality is first, I'm considering this plus a bcr2000 instead of apc40 for having so many more buttons and dials for relatively the same price if not less, velocity sensitivity doesn't concern me too much

  • Can this be hooked up to FL studio???

  • @jps4you its midi so can be linked to anything that supports it really :)

  • @imydaking Thanks!!

  • @jps4you there is software on the disc that you have to use to basically map it withother programs but deifnately its possible to link it to fl studio etc.. hope that helps

  • @imydaking I got the launchpad today and i cant figure out how to add drums or anything, its so confusing.

  • i want to learn music and mixing and doing stuff on the launchpad i have no music background at all how easy would it be for me to pick up. i feel like i have a good sense of rhythm but thats about it.

  • @nikesb538

It would take years and years ;)

  • @yourilohuis Nope, if he practices at least a couple hours a day he can learn the basics in under a month.

  • @nikesb538 it wouldnt take very much, you got to get use to how it works, for you to get pro... maybe bout a year at best, but if really want to be a mixer, work on it everyday

  • @nikesb538 naah, no one can tell how many days or weeks or months...just buy ableton and explore it. Then go further. As long as you have fun ;)

  • If you wan't to sell this launchpad i would promote Madeon!!!!!!!!!

  • @SuperJV83 "wan't"?

  • How can I play that light show on minute 2:11 ?

  • i need help. just got this thing and all the ableton language is complete gibberish to me and i would really like for this $150 investment to not just sit around my house. anybody who understands it, please let me know what to do!

  • Madeon FTW

  • Check out

    /watch?v=lTx3G6h2xyA&feature=feedu

that´s how this thing can be played!

  • how does he make it flange at 0:48?

  • @sca1095 it's probably just another version of the same track on a different cue, but with flange.

  • Thinking of buying this practice live

  • I have to disagree with Sig.. An instrument in Ableton can be anything which produces sound. Launchpad utilizes audio files or patches in a session format allowing for realtime performance. No other Daw can do this except Live. You could therefore actually compare it to an instrument. The mouse is the tool :)

  • This product is simply a method of making ableton live more interesting and creative and it does this perfectly :), coming from an APC user, but for some reason i want to get this too

  • wooooooow

  • @LeisureCentury

you can only see 8 clips at a time, but with the arrows on the right you can start als clips of a scene at once

  • @LeisureCentury

dont know exactly know what you mean, but can use the arrows on the top to scroll between more loops

  • What is the macro command for visual explosions on pads? See 2:11 - 2:14 seconds.

  • @Evgenyus77 You just have to push the 4 circular buttons on the top right plus the down arrow key ;)

  • What is the macro command for visual explosions on pads? See 2:11 - 2:14 seconds. Thanks

  • Nice demo.

  • I have no F*cking idea what is going on there. Looks cool though.

  • Is it really for Music producers...seems like its aimed at Dj's

  • It's just a tool to aid in creativity. Some people are going to be able to do wonderful things with it, and others not so much...

I've played keys and guitar in bands before.. Now, I'm doing my own solo fun project using mostly ableton an acp40 and a guitar + some looping/delay/reverb pedals. And I've got to say, the amount of work I put into midi mapping and prep for live shows is way tougher than just being a guitarist in a band..

  • @djivimix i wouldnt use deadmau5 as an example since he's one of those untalented dj's out there. he's famous, yes, making zillions of money, YES, but talented, NO. he's just one of those mainstream pop artist that bring nothing to music.

  • Could you do all of this with an APC40? I'm wondering if the two are kind of one in the same, just more features on the APC40..? Thanks

  • I can't understand why are some people so negative about this product. It looks like a really interesting way of controlling samples with a great looking control surface. And anyway, anything, any method of creating musical sounds is totally valid. Give people the choice and they will go for what interest them, and why not!

  • Samples from David Carbone's Drum & bass pack :D

  • El launchpad incluye las manos?

  • Erm, what the fuck just happened?

  • so everything that was played was already on a computer, or can the controller make its own sound?

  • @Beckett125 its a controller... it controls everything thats on the computer. You need a program for it to work

  • @JudgeJudas Thanks for the advice man! I think I'm still gonna get one and learn how to use it. I just love the capabilities you have with this machine! Once you've edited your track though can you save them and possibly put them in iTunes?

  • Is this strictly for playing live or can I make beats: make and make songs on it aswell?

  • @ace101guy You can, but I wouldn't really suggest it. The pads are not velocity-sensitive, so that's a bummer for creating with it (unless you use midi-effects for either fixed or "random" velocity). I bought mine so I could play my stuff live, and I love it, but I only use it to get a feel of things when creating (mostly for percussion), then edit everything later on (but I don't mind working with a screen and a mouse, so that's a factor for me:P).

  • Whoa...Fuckin' Sick! U need skillz&knowledge for this !

  • i really love abletons reverbs, take 1:09 for example best reverb ive heard

  • @twelve11musicAU : Just for info: That effect was actually a delay :)

  • @piano25 ohk thanks, yeah i figured out not long ago, i love how it filters aswell! Its genius haha :)

  • @twelve11musicAU I love it too! you can hear some of me using it with launchpad and a SLMKII at soundcloud [dot] com / thiagopinheiro / organic-lounge-set (without spaces and with a real dot) :) hope you like it!

  • @piano25 i had a look, pretty good :) i heard it at the start :D

  • watch this remix of Loreena Mckennit Old Ways !

    /watch?v=uXiv62O1egI

  • Looking forward to mine arriving... if you wanna really unlock what the launchpad can do, google the katapault software. I've seen some amazing videos of it.

  • Someone have the loops of trumpet & drums???

  • @anatolinicolae there is a link at the end of the explanation video!

  • @introducinglive I don't see it...

  • @anatolinicolae search for 'Launchpad Promo Explained' video from Novation and then scan to the end of the video to see the link. I can't enter the link here it would seem....

  • @introducinglive -- Finded! Tnx a lot!!!! ;-)

  • wooww!!!!!!!

  • can this thing trigger samples? MPC style?

  • As a 50-something prog-rocker, I have to say that this thing has me more excited than most of the new stuff I've tried in YEARS. I've dabbled with 'Live' and it INSTANTLY took my music down new, more interesting paths. Mine arrives on Monday. I can hardly wait.

  • @schragemusik Mine should be in on Monday too! Have fun!

  • @Spunjo1221 It came and, after some initial trouble, it is fun beyond belief. I love it. Hope you enjoy yours as much. :-)

  • on mine i have alot of .agr files, but when i drag them onto the live session part, they do not play, wjy is this?

  • Comment removed

  • this thing is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!

  • Fuckin beast! Does this work with other hosts aswell? I need it for reason and FL

  • @DevotionTrance I think so, mine just came in the mail today, and although it was made for ableton, i think there's some form of technology which makes it work with other programs.

  • @semajredhead oh nice.

  • @DevotionTrance From what I can see, it comes with software that it allows you to set it up for loads of things. It would be a crime if it didn't work with Reason ;-)

  • do u need a good laptop to use 1 of these?

  • @TheLittleFro I'd say reasonably beefy.

  • It's like music from the Sonic the Hedgehog games! Awesome!

  • i got ableton live 8 and the launchpad and i cant get it working can you help

  • can i download this as a track coz i love it!

  • Comment removed

  • @what3ver what abrainless numbnut comment that dosent make any sence and if you want one, theres this stuff called money

  • @what3ver what a stupid comment

  • This only works with Ableton?

  • @IIxPstylesxII Apparently so... Sucks right? What software do you use?

  • @DevotionTrance Fruity Loops FL Studio 9. What controllers work with that?

  • @IIxPstylesxII because theres other controllers i know for stuff like FL and Reason. works with logic too

  • OMG that's, AWESOME. direct live producing ? Piano for electro ? hmmm ?

  • Nice :D !

  • does the novation lauchpad work for abloeton intro too?

  • do want!

  • I have no idea... what the fuck is going on with that thing.

  • @diamonddust22

hey diamond, why dont you go stick your guts talent and fortitude in the quarter inch of my ELECTRONIC keyboard? go feel that for talent

stop being selfish and single minded

    Ableton for president!!

  • have 2 buy this, looks fun

  • Getting music out of anything is talent. I now people that can extract music from anything they can find in any kitchen better than thousand people can do using a guitar.

  • holy sh*t

    talent

  • nice

  • When I play the guitar I can controll every emotion on the pad and I am not limited to 64 pad i have many variation and octave Its more than this but i dont have time to explain dont get me wrong this product is great and im going to buy it but its nothing like a live instrument again this is why bands with live instruments like infected mushroom do way better than you average house music sample trigger dj ....I try to incorporate both

  • @davidgtr Boo on you sir, boo on you.

  • @davidgtr

You create the loops yourself. So with this device you perform the music you made yourself, live. Its not just about sampling. If you think that you lack creativity.

  • @Niekfollings Of course thats talent just look at the guy here I dont think you understood me this pad is taking the whole dj thing to another level what I was commenting about was comparing this to a live instruments which is two different worlds

  • Ne prendo subito due grazie! Meglio di un sequencer+sampler hardware! <3

  • @nosoyelpapa, @diamonddust22: It's like overhearing two people arguing whether an assembler is better than Java :)

  • @diamonddust22 lololololololol. Learn how to use one of these, THEN decide whether or not it's a "real" instrument. (For that matter, what the fuck counts as a "real" instrument? A guitar, just 'cause it goes deedly-deedly-dee? I play a lot of different instruments, and can honestly say that I have yet to find something I like as much as Live & a control surface.)

  • @mouthbreather1 I am a dj and write alot of house /electro /trance music and I use controllers but I also play the guitar well and ok on the piano and from what it sounds like you suck At your instruments because If you played them well you would understand that a controller can never do the same as a instrument . Fact is all the big guys even armin play a instrument well . All that minimal shit is for guys that have no talent

  • @davidgtr Then please enlighten me about what makes an "instrument" so much different from a controller.

  • Go fucking die in a fire cunt hole

  • The talent is in the arrangment.

  • @jimmyscabs Thank you! Someone who understands Computer music for once! Hopefully getting one of these soon, cant wait!

  • Will be picking one of these baby's up on saturday along with a Zero SL! :P Can't wait...

  • you're fucking stupid diamonddirt. it's different kind of music. and you need to accept. sorry that this isnt a video of some one playing a led zeppelin solo or jazz sax. but that's different. this is ELECTRONIC music. and yes, it does take talent and devotion to program these machines and to program computers. you are an idiot. go shred a solo on guitar.

  • Practise, practise, and then, practise... this is how things work with this kind of controllers. You get the expertise by practising hundreds of hours.

  • Love the video, but that guy is a Pro. What can a Schlub like me do?

  • press session+user1+user2+mixer+down

  • monome wannabe but can not be

  • this s also an insrtument, if you undestand how to ue it, u r god on your way.. i not beeing lee use different things to play music

  • @diamonddust22 you mean you can play this with your instrument? you've got some nice instrument there let me tell ya ... this is tho, a controller, for sending midi messages to a computer in wich you have spent some long hours programing (composing) music. and of course you deserve credit for it !

  • when you make beats that sound like Pretty Lights, or RJD2, THEN you can act like an ass

  • @diamonddust22 Guts, fortitude nor talent are what it takes to make ART, art is whatever you do using your feelings and heart. Talent is only a part, most of it is WORK, i'd pay to see how much work it takes for you to understand an "electronic toy". I'd love to mechanically play through scales like a maniac robot in high speed. But my heart aims to "play with electronic toys". Now shut up and go play a gig or do something more productive than this.

  • @diamonddust22 no one likes you

  • @TheEdcleven that is the greatest thing I've ever heard...lol

  • @diamonddust22 Pendulum use launchpad, Does that make them talentless?

  • @diamonddust22 Ouch... looks like all of that forcing of learning has made you a bitter boy.

  • @koko56 So having an opinion makes someone bitter? Yeah god forbid you have an opinion
