  • justin here to show yous motha fuckas some shit

  • I dont get it, I'm trying to use EA for a some track our drummer did, he's just a tad off here and there so I wanted to fix them using EA. I set them up, once i set up the Warp, I can't move the markers. It moves the whole track itself. What am i doing wrong?

  • is elastic audio also in the essential version?

  • @Anna114xD Hi. Elastic Time and Elastic Pitch are both included with Pro Tools SE. thanks for getting in touch and watching!

  • @WinkSound when i open the elastic properties window, there isnt a parameter for source tempo. im running pro tools 8 LE. is this feature not available in the version im running? I appreciate the help.

  • @prettyrenfrew Same problem here. I am also running PT 8 LE, so I guess we just don´t have that feature :-(

  • @DanRHagen Try putting the tracks in ticks instead of samples.

  • Comment removed

  • @prettyrenfrew Oh hey, nevermind I figured it out. You need to have the source tracks in "ticks" instead of "samples." I switched and now everything is the same as the video.

  • What's up Justin? Whats the best way to apply auto tune to vocals? on the track or aux? and do i compress, eq and reverb first or what thanks

  • @RastaRhalik Hi, thanks for getting in touch. When using auto tune on vocal it's recomendad to first edit and treat the vocal with eq and compression. Once you have the sound your looking for insert the auto tune plugin to the end of the signal chain so you get the clearest, most consistant sound possible. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

  • Hi Justin

i use a m-box but when i try to recore on a stereo track i only get signal on one side what is the couse of that?

  • @RastaRhalik Hi, thanks for writing. It could be a number of things. What type of instrument are you recording and how are you connecting it? Make sure your recording onto a stereo audio track and that your connecting the right and left inputs of the instrument into channels 1 and 2 of the Mbox accordingly. If you just hear one side when monitoring try flipping the mono switch on the Mbox.

  • In PT Im trying to figure out how to do that popular bass drop effect in techno and hip hop.. gross beat is how i do it in FL. How would you do that in PT??

  • @TheFulkanelli Hi, thanks for writing. In Pro Tools there's the popular Vari-Fi plugin which is similar in that it let's you create time and pitch curves. You'll find the Vari-Fi plugin under Audio Suite. We'll send you a link on how to use it.

  • Is this like the gross beat plugin for Fl studio? Im trying to figure out how to do that popular bass drop effect in techno and hip hop, gross beat is how i do it in FL.

  • Thanx sooooo much for this!

  • Hey Justin:) I'm noticing that the 'Elastic Properties' window (that you pull up around 2:07 in this video) has more options than mine displays. Is there a setting somewhere I can tweak to make the rest of it visible? Pro Tools 9 Macbook Pro

  • Justin

Vari is actually changing the pitch , the other algo's change duration but keep pitch unchanged.

  • Thanks for the video. I'd been pretty baffled by Elastic Audio for a while and just left it alone. I'm going to start using it more now

  • I Dont have that blank box you click to get the menu, mine says auto read in that space...what do i do

  • Thanks very much!

  • So basically this is like warping in ableton live? niceage.

  • i'm having problem warping individual markers

  • @dustinroberts07 Elastic audio can be accessed by changing your track to tick based. This will allow you to stretch the audio how you'd like. I use the smart tool so this way I can access all the tools to do my manipulation.

Hope that helps out. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • NO BPM

  • I have LE and I dont see a lot of the features you talking about. isnt beat detective nearly the same?

  • @jeasy2be Beat detective has alot more and some different features the elastic audio. Elastic audio will give you a faster work flow (in my opinion) then beat detective. It is easier to adjust single drum hits or words/syllables then beat detective. Try enabling your track to be tick based. See if the show up then.

Hope that helps. Let me know if have anymore questions.

  • wow these ppl are doing good.... they got PRINCE to teach in their videos

  • Why when I go to elastic audio properties I don't get the bpm option?

  • q buen video

    gracias

  • how do you put more input gain, to make the waves wider and easier to understand?

  • @tinsaovez Hello you do not need to add more gain to view the wave forms bigger. Go up to the top left of you session where all the tools are located. There you will see a small little icon/button with a waveform on it. That button will allow you to make the waveform bigger or smaller.

Hope that helps and my appolgies for getting back to you late.

  • @WiNKsound no prob thanks man

  • when I go into the warp mode to adjust the hit markers it compresses/expands the entire that i analyzed.... whyyyy?

btw, I find your guy's videos extremely helfpul! Thanks for the tutorials!!!

  • @Knucklesmd Hello I do this often by accident to. You need to make sure the region is not highlighted, Then you will be able to grab the individual markers to stretch and compress that area.

Hope that helps and my apologies for getting back to you this late

  • man i really thank you guys for this video i'm an audio engineer and at the time when i went to school elastic audio was fairly new so we didn't get to learn it but i must say after watching this video i've applied it to several songs and my clients are very pleased with the results so again thanks

  • Hi @1atlshawty1

    That's Great!

Glad to hear the tutorial helped out and thanks for letting us know. If you ever have any other questions feel free to get in touch anytime.

    Cheers and continued success,

  • @WiNKsound Could you do this with a vocal track? Like lets say I have a sample acappella track and I want to slow the tempo down without it making a real graining sound. Can you do this with pro tools 8?

  • @ZoSo5885 Yes you can. But like you said the more and more stretched out or compressed you do it the more weird audio artifacts will be introduced. So just keep that in mind. It is really good for vocals especially when you need to make small adjustments with words/syllables

    Hope that helped out.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. Talk to you soon

  • mateo love the tutorial but i was lost until i clicked ticks instead of samples in the timebase selector.

  • Thanks for the great video, I just get the message, "Region: no elastic audio regions selected" in the Elastic Properties box after I select a track or region, and select "Elastic Properties..." from the region menu. What am I doing wrong?

  • Thank you very much! This second tip worked for me. What I was missing was that double-clicking on the vertical lines turns them to markers. Thanks once again and keep it up!

  • Hi snupcho,

Are you making sure that the the region has be un-selected? The stretch will affect selected area(s). So if the entire audio region is selected then the change will be applied to entire region.

    Mateo

  • I'm having a problem with this feature here. I'm using PT8 LE and I'm following exactly the actions in this tutorial, but when I go to "warp", PT doesn't create the elastic markers, there are the vertical lines, but they don't turn to separate markers and when I move them to the left or right, the whole regions gets stretched, not just the fragment. What am I doing wrong?

  • @snupcho Hello snupcho this is Justin. Thank you for your question and checking out the videos. Let me know if this works for you. Make sure your region or regions are not highlighted when you are trying to use the warp markers because it will move the whole region. Second if pro tools did not create the warp markers for you with quantizing them, then you need to create them yourself. Either double click on those vertical lines to make them warp markers or hold down control

  • @ibj and the cursor will turn into the hand/grabber tool with a little + sign on it. All you have to do with that is just click the vertical line you want to make a warp marker. Once you got this done place your cursor over the warp marker and make your adjustments. Check your grid value to determine how you can adjust those warp markers. If you still have questions about this or anything else get in contact with me Justin at winksound dot

com and I will make a video for you. Hope this helps
