Dude. I had a scorpy on my trex 500. Changed bearing 5x. Forget the boca's. It ain't the bearing, but the "sloppy" machining and alignment. It will get worse each time you replace the bearing. Using "green" loctite will help, but removing either with heat or alcohol dip is not easy. If you just want a few hundred flights, shouldn't be a problem. However, I have over 4k flights on my 500, I only go with align( 90 day warranty), NEU,or Hacker.
I have changed the bearings in my scorpion hk-4025 890kv motor to boca sealed ceramic bearings. I just have to say you can't expect non sealed bearings to perform at a top notch level without re-lubing them. It's just not gonna happen.
sorry to hear that Jeff, the 1600kv is notorious for this issue. The sad thing is scorpion will do nothing about it, they added a disclaimer about not covering any bearing issue. I've heard people changing the bearings to boca ceramic and have been pleased.
Yeah this was the next day after that wind test with the heli. I've since just put back the stock motor. I do have some bearings for it now however... But yeah, I always remembered you saying how these Scorpion motors are notorious for there poor bearings ! Now I believe you...!! LMAO... No biggie though, its just ridicoulous that they won't fix the problem. There loss though... In time Scorpion motors could become a memory from others staying clear of them.
@JMICHAELSMITH01 That's a shame for the company, the Scorpion motors are pretty nice but it's disappointing that they would walk away from their bearing issues. While my Scorp has performed well in my 450 heli (2221-8), it's disappointing to hear of their stance on bearing issues and to see the failures go witout a proper repair. Talk about ruining your short-run reputation IN AN INSTANT.

I forgot to add that the bearings that come stock should be changed after 20 or so flights no matter if you keep them lubed or not.
