VERY cool and rare video. I wish more people would get this advantage to see what their pilots really do up in the cockpit, and to seperate that from all those popular rumors about sleeping on the job, pilots not paying attention while flying, takeing off and landing with no hands, etc. That 9/11 thing made an obvious sad mess of everything in the short run but in the long run, it's little things (like this video) that are permanently affected that people would ordinarily miss out on.
hey bro...you made an amazing vid! really cool! i didnt know they have to hand fly it to 1, 500 ft before going into autopilot. its good to know that they dont do ILS landings frequently. only on bad weather. hahah. good stuf!!
ya, back in the day, before morons with Korans and box-cutters ruined it, it was normal to be able to visit the flight deck, chat with the pilots and take a picture.
@obstinado you shouldn't publish videos like this from flight deck where faces of pilots are visible, they may have huge problems because of it especially if you are not a member of the crew.

Can someone who is a pilot, please put to rest the consiracy theriosts, that it is or is not difficult to hit the World trade center buildings with commercial airliner's. I have been an aviation buff all my life, but have never flown a commercial aircraft. If the terrorists had the training they had, could they have flown the aircraft into building's? Was it really a diffcult thing to do? It ofcourse looked terribly easy.
where do you live that a commercial pilot license is 60 - 70000 €? here in switzerland the PPL is about 20000 francs (about 13.000 €) and a CPL/IR MEP is about 50.000 francs, which is about 33.000 €)
I am a pilot too...commercial but still training...and my son is already flying with me...he is only going to be 3 years old in a couple of month and absolutely loves it!!!
well what can i say , yes!, 1 you need a lot money to spend with all your lincense 2 you need luck or have someone inside of the company ,any . this is make more easy for you
Flying a 767 isn't like loading up Microsoft Flight Simulator. You just can't take over a plane like this and fly it where you want, UNLESS you have proper Pilot training for large aircraft.
Going back to Microsoft Flight sim, just try getting a proper add-on and see how hard it is just to config the aircraft properly.

After a Jetblue flight, I asked to visit the cockpit on the a320 and the pilots answered all my questions and told me what I had to do to become an airline pilot.
(I never got to visit the flight deck when we were in the air)
yeaah , i learned alot , but my dad , is a airline pilot , my mom is a Flight attendant , my uncle Was a pilot , he died :( my cousin is a flight attendant
You probably are really good in the maths and sciences, and you would probably need a long list of experience, skills, and lots of training, it would be a very rewarding career, especially in the financial department.
If you want to learn more and have a hi end PC. Purchase FS2004 or FSX and purchase a wilco PIC 737 addon which has an identical CDU that airlines operate today. It is the best demonstration out there to use. And don't forget to purchase an FCOM if you want to learn more, or manuals which best desribes what each button on your sim does and the procedures and limitations used.
The information from the CDU is sent to the FMC will once activated via the buttons on the MCP, (near the auopilot). Allow the aircraft to fly a VNAV climb profile or LNAV lateral route profile with the press of a button aboce 400 ft. Flight directors allow manual flight and to fly the same profile manually by following the bars on the artifical horizon. It is as sounds much complicated than it actually is, but it really is not. And explains how airline can turn around in under 30 minutes.
In the performance page rsv fuel and econ setting can be entered that will further alter the route and desend settings. If the performance page isn't accepted a warning such as 'using reserve fuel' is listed, or insufficient fuel. If all the data has been entered, CRZ wind, ZFW etc the aircraft will know how much fuel is required to succesfully fly the route. The page will be allow you to continue if all information is accepted. Other settings can be ammended to further refine or update d route
Once the pos init page and route has been established the aircraft needs raw data to establish takeoff speeds, Takeoff thrust, ZFW, fuel ect. Anything that might alter the route and the fuel required. Again the Load sheet is often referred to enter ZFW etc. However OAT is taken from the instruments or the Airports information frequency to calculate the N1 thrust for T/O. When the TOGA's are pressed the value calculated must correspond to the engine instrumetnts.
The departure and arrival airports just require the dep ICAO airport code and ICAO arrival code. The T/O runway / SID / STARS which are routes which the aircraft must take during takeoff can be selcted later. The FMC will then calculate an IFR route via nav aid wayoints which the aircraft can follow when in Lateral autopilot mode. Companies which frequently operate a route can select a route stored in the CO route line. The flightplan is then checked compared with the flightplan filed on paper
The CDU is self intuitive really. At the begining of the flight, the crew have to enter the aircraft's position (ICAO airport code/gate or coordinates on the overhead if the aircraft has moved without the IRU's powered. A clever self reliant inertial reference system that can detect pitch, roll and yaw can feed information to the VSI, ground speed etc and more impotantly the aircraft's position. Once the IRU's agree with the position it will allow you to enter the departure airport and arrival
OK, she spoke English too. But it can not disqualify my coment that on 6:42 is heard a perfect Brazilian Portuguese (male voice) followed by, (female voice) in Spanish.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology and sociology:
(1) Why do we love flying and pilot an aeroplane like 777?
(2) What will be the personnal image as a pilot (or an aviation profession) in front of other people?
(3) Why do we wnat to design new and innovative aeroplanes?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
applesweeter 2 years ago
1) Because it is technologically advanced, the newest Boeing product, HUGE. (This is assuming we have a choice to fly on the 777 or not.)
2) "Will"? That means in the future. But now, pilots are usually seen as professional, dedicated, honorable.
3) We don't want to. The airlines and airplane manufacturers want new and innovative planes. We just like to fly on them. ;)
