If you're not having fun and doing what you want with your channel then we're probably not going to enjoy watching your content. I think you should defiantly make a video every day in 2012 if that's what you want to do.
I would definitely stick around. It sounds like it could be a challenging and fruitful project. Although you should at least give yourself Saturdays and Sundays off.
I'm not going to lie, if you made daily vlogs I wouldn't watch them every day. I'd just check in once and a while. The reason is that I just don't have time for a 7+ minute video every day, and vlogs get boring after a while. Sorry!
This happens to a lot of youtubers. Once they have an audiance, they try to please the audiance, some try too hard to make "good" content. But remember: You gained the audiance you are having now with the videos you did. So thinking more about content and more about pleasing the audiance won´t work. Just do want you want to do. That worked in the past, it will work in the future.
Theres a house across the street from me that has been for sale for over 5 years. Nothing is wrong with it, but its still for sale. the people that lived there have moved out since. :/
I don't think you should, you speak about your life and you wont have something entertaining to talk about every day. You should just vlog every time you have something to talk about and if that happens to be every day then that is great but its unlikely.
Do it! I've been thinking about trying the same thing. And remember, you can always change your mind. Pogobat did it. I find your random thoughts interesting and entertaining. My life this past year has taken many strange turns and I think it would have been cool to be able to go back and see those dramatic changes happen.
If you have all the free time, why not write a short story a day and maybe make 3-4 videos weekly. This way you can get your writing submitted for publishing and maybe turn 2012 into a very successful career starting year.
I definitely like the idea of VED2012, or every weekday, or any regular high-volume schedule. Your VEDS videos were...interesting...and I wouldn't mind seeing more like them!
The thing about choosing to vlog every day for a year is that it's a huge commitment and can become this huge intimidating monolith that ends up just dragging and not being fun (i.e. Dan 3.0)... Perhaps it would be better to have three days a week or something? That would be enough to galvanise you into recording the things that happened in your day, but not enough to become a 'burden'. I think. Not that I've ever done any of this. *cough*
I would be thrilled to see you do a vlog every weekday in 2012. I've been a subscriber for almost two years now and this is one of my very favorite channels. A daily Gemllama would be amazing!
Of course you will also have to factor in your work on Hipster Chicken...but I know you can handle it.

But what I think is important here Gretchen is to ultimately make videos when you truly want to make them- when you have ideas you really want to bring to life and the real creative juices flow. If you want to challenge yourself with this daily vlog, that's wonderful and I definitely support that. -
Everyday or every day you feel you have the time would be really great, I think it would help grow your audience and your creativity. Plus I would love seeing you more frequently. I am a huge fan of shay and ctfxc and I really think you would benefit from it. If you have to, you can always create a second channel?
What about weekly or bi-weekly rather than daily? I'd follow you daily, but it could also become a pain for you to keep up if you get a great full-time job in 2012!

@IsiXDream I did that too, and it really stressed me out at times, but I did think it was really worthwhile. I ended up being a lot more creative and satisfied than I thought I'd be. (I got a few months shy of a year, though, because my camera was stolen. It's always something...)

Personally I'm not a big fan of the vlog everyday things. I would rather watch a really entertaining video once a week than 5 or 7 mediocre videos every week. I'm sure you won't make them all mediocre. I'd be interested, but I probably wouldn't watch them all. I don't know about all of 2012. My advice (which is very subjective and not based on experience at all) try it for a month and ask again.
@SMFortissimo I actually have thought about doing a trial month, just to see how it goes. But I totally understand about the mediocre videos. I guess that would be part of the challenge, trying to keep a certain level of quality across an extended period of time. Not an easy feat, certainly.
Honestly i'll stick around pretty much forever, all your videos either amuse or inspire me most of the time its a mixture of the two, you don't have to push yourself to the commitment of a video a day but weekly or wednesdayly things could be a great idea :)
If you are afraid of losing subscribers, you could try making a new channel for your daily videos. Or, you could set some kind of limit on the videos, like they can't be more than 2 minutes long or something, and then more people would watch them and less people would lose interest. I'm no expert though.

I think that you should make a 2nd channel for the daily videos if you decide to do them.
Then you could just put a link to your main channel when you do "normal" videos.

I'd stick around. Not just because I can relate to you on the fact that 2012 is a blank slate, but because I geneuinely like your videos.
My only concern is that you could stress yourself out with this HUGE commitment. At least give yourself weekends off so you can have some down time.
Either way, this is a subcriber that isn't going anywhere.
