  • Who gives a fuck about how it's pronounced? Get over yourselves.

  • pie-zo you say it like pie, and zo, he said it right

  • The Pie-ay-zo/Pee-ay-zo debate RAGES ON!

  • Wow, the piezo sounds amazing

  • would it work on an electric ukelele that im making? i want to make it the main pickup, would that work?

  • pee-aye-zo are you austistic?

  • omg its pronounced piett♀b‼§zao--♀↑7┐ zaozyu-Ó.....

  • It's actually spelled Pizza.

  • Good, informative demo and nice playing! :)

The piezo debate is silly...who cares(aside from geeks and trolls)?

Everyone watching this knows what you're talking about.

Now if you had mispronounced tomato...

  • what song is that your playing?

  • did you turn your crunch lab around? because in the JP7 it's reversed.

  • Its prounounced depending where you live on this giant orb.

  • Oh wait I meant a mono cable into a stereo output not the only way around.

  • So you put a stereo cable into the mono output to use just the magnetic pickups? How do you know if the cable is stereo or mono (pardon the newb question but I'm saving up for this guitar and it seems a tad confusing)?

  • now we wanna hear a Mayer-Petrucci mashup: "No such Glasgow KIss" XD

besides, sick guitar a very good sounding piezo, plus the 7th strings adds some very lovelya nd rich sub- and sovraharmonics to the E7+9 chords you played

  • A laughed a bit that so many focused only in the way how you say piezo... At least I enjoyed the video :D Really helpful, and now I know about piexo pickups, Thanks!

  • pie

    piezo

    tie

    fried

    dried

    science

    fiery

Admittedly you could make a similar list using the long e sound. But pee-zoh sounds kinda wuss.

  • JP7? You bastard. XD

  • you could make a DT song out of all the notes he just played

  • i stopped watching this when he said piezo wrong.

  • @ScalyUnicorn /watch?v=DXqsYCyx6BE go to 4:08. I say it the same way John Petrucci does. If that's wrong then I guess he must be wrong as well. Sure there's the proper Greek way of saying it but what does it matter.

  • @waynesworld91 if he says it that way he would be wrong. its pronounced the way its spelled. pee aye zoh

  • @waynesworld91 He's no god and he is wrong

  • @ScalyUnicorn Wait, when I was pronouncing it "PEE-ZO" people told me I was wrong and mocked me! ;-) To hell with the damn pickups at this point - I'm calling them "Grandpa's Guitar Simulators"... ;-D

  • @ScalyUnicorn moron, he pronounce it right. that is the american way of pronouncing it. if you are in greece then pronounce it the way they pronounce it. when you are in northern america then pronounce it how americans pronounce it.

  • @ScalyUnicorn JP himself says it the same way. your argument is invalid.

  • Dude you are awesome.. nice lecture

  • One in white with a gold bridge......OMG! I would trade my Gibson right now!

  • @Nickdiaublow they dont make them like that it's a sig guitar :p

  • @Nickdiaublow Yes they do. The guy from born of osiris does. (Even though i hate the band)

  • how could it be aweful if it has a greater range than a mag pickup? I've heard of the quacks but I'll bet one can actually hear the fuckin chords they play through the disto, correct me if I'm wrong i just wanna hear every fuckin note in the chord clearly with distortion as I fuckin hate dick sucking power chords, nor do I want two guitars to have to harmonize to play what one could have with clarity if it WERE clean, that is all.

  • @stathagranak both the stock pickups and jp's pickups have a very tight distorted sound that keeps a lot of those harmonics. and yea, what scanme said about the piezo is right. on a side note, you really should chill out. there's no reason you should be angry at a particular musical device.

  • It's pronounced pizza

    peet-za

  • @LessthanJake14 @iamrichlol So how is it pronounced?

  • Does a stereo sound make your guitar sound better? In other terms, what does a stereosetup ( for example the stereo cabel ) contribute to the suond of the guitar?

  • man,can you use the piezo with a mono cable?

  • can one use these with distortion? would it sound as good as mag pickups with disto?

  • @stathagranak the point of having a piezo is to get that acoustic sound quality. so why would you use a distortion for it? of course it will still sound but i bet it will be awful compare to a magnetic pick up.

  • two out puts? pardon me if i'm ignorant but where is the practicality in that?

  • can i use the piazo and the magnetics pickups and swich them when i use only one electric guitar amp?? or i need the two cable and two amp?

  • I HEAR YOU MAYER

  • the fact that you played count of tuscany makes me very happy right now

  • the sound you had at 5:49 sounds amazing id love to see what that would sound like with a little distortion and tone all the way up i think it would make a great blues sound but with very little distortion

  • PIEso =D

  • Isn't that last connection thing a little pointless with the stereo AND mono cables connected. Because when both jacks are connected its no use plugging stereo to the stereo since it doesn't do any thing different than using mono.

  • i am looking for a stereo instrument/guitar cable. which one are you using in this video?

  • I like "OK SO":D

  • I'd like another slice of pie-zo for dessert! It's pee-eight-zo or pee-ay-zo.

    Otherwise, good vid.

  • i'm really interested in the piezo pickup with overdrive/distortion. do you have that video up somewhere?

  • thanks man thanks for explain.i love this guitar i buy this very soon

  • The Count of Tuscany :O !

  • hmm, John Mayer, but better: Dream Theater - The Count of Tuscany @ 5:28 =)

  • This guitar sounds like absolute shit.

  • @Carthsgtr Then you obviously have only judged it from this ONE video....This is one of the best sounding guitars ever made.

  • @TheWhocares233

    That's an outrageous claim.

  • what the hell is a mixpot

  • @BOOLsheet A mixpot is part of the adjustments you can make to the preamp in the guitar. There's a treble pot, bass pot, and the mix pot - which controls the volume of the piezo. An example would be if you were playing a guitar solo that needs to be louder so you turn that channel up or your guitar up. Then when you need to switch to the piezo, it won't lose the volume level, or you can choose to make it softer so that you don't need to adjust the amp channels.

  • @waynesworld91 cool, so if i have a regular line 6 amp, and one of these guitars, which configuration should i use if i want to be able to use everything, and only have the regular monster instrument cables?

  • @waynesworld91 ; Hi there,im thinking buy one, but my question is; How its work when you want to use a wireless system and use the same amp for the piezo and magnetic pickups. All wiresles cable i know are mono??

  • john mayer sucks shit

  • So how can I tell if my cable is stereo or mono?

  • @WallyVaio If the cable has two rings at the tip [usually two black rings around], it's stereo. If it has only one, it's mono.

  • lol PYZO!

  • actually that note in Canada is right. oooh i love Canada

  • John Mayer on a Petrucci guitar? unexpected

  • @mattlittler89 yeah! i was thinkin the same: SUDDENDLY,JOHN MAYER EVERYWHERE!

  • Yayy for Jon Petrucci!!

  • It's Pee-aye-zo.

  • @LessthanJake14 "Pie-zoh" is perfectly acceptable . It was Pie-zoh long before somebody made a two-syllable word into a three-syllable word. Check your word entomology if you don't believe me.

  • @moucon Do you call an Italian dinner pie a pihh-zuhh? Do you you like ah-kapelloe music? Do you get french benefits at your job? Do you like lobster biskay? Does Santa climb down your chimbley? Do you buy your honey a valentime's day card? Do you get books at the lieberry? Do you eat chimmie-chain-gahs? If you do, then having a slice of pie-zo is perfectly fine.

  • @LessthanJake14

In Scandinavia its Pee ET so.

  • Its pronounced pee et so

  • @iamrichlol Only if you're British. Americans say it like he said in the video.

  • hey thnx , i see thers on pod , i cant use both cables .but yes ur right,on the output , i have two (stereo and mono) . i have seen petrucci always connect both cables for stereo and mono. so although i dont need always both, its just become irritating if unable to connect something hehe. my amps r not really huge . but anyway, i will get this mystic dream finish one, as soon as i have funds for it. thanks again.

  • @C0BHC11 Cool, but you must remember! John Petrucci has 3 Mesa/Boogies in one rack alone, and he has a bunch of different things that he's going through that result in his amazing tone. Just because he does it, doesn't mean you have to! You can really mess around any way you like...I personally like sometimes having my magnetics going through a distortion amp and having another cable going through a standard Yorkville amp [as seen in this video] for my clean or just using one Piezo output!

  • @waynesworld91 where did you buy your guitar?

  • @Dtm540 A Canadian music store called Long & McQuade.

  • @Dtm540 However, I did have to order the guitar straight from the company through the music store.

  • hey i was wondering , if connect both stereo and mono output cable on the guitar , how do i connect both cables on my pedal ? theres only one input port on my pod .

    please explain .

  • @C0BHC11 Hmm I see. Does the POD have two outputs? I would just recommend using one stereo cable and plugging it into the one input and having it come out of two outputs perhaps. You don't have to always have two cables plugged in, especially if you can't find a source at the other end. You can also think of possibly plugging one end into the POD and another into the amp [for more than one channel] or another amp/mixer? What did you have in mind once you've connected both to the POD?

  • im thingking of selling my american fender strat to add to my funds for this.

  • @mojoefly I support this decision 100%! Haha it's well worth the money! Took me 4 full years to save up and take action to get it and I've never been happier with the feel and versatility of any other guitar!

  • @mojoefly heeey this is the right decision man. dont think about it. i hope u already get the guitar after four months

  • Awesome a video on this. I had no idea as that diagram is damn confusing. Getting the JPX 6 in August, probably. Out of curiosity, should I just connect 2 mono cables all the time then? I play mostly metal music, but if and when I could get certain tones out of the clean channel of my amp with the Piezo, I suppose I might as well, plus the mix pot is still active. Seems like I might as well, for the most variety with as little time wasted as possible. Thanks, by the way.

  • @ArrrPirate666 For metal it's not going to really make a huge difference if you use the piezo, and it definitely isn't going to sound too much better. If you do however think that you'll be changing to a clean sound [via channel switching pedal, for example] then I wouldn't suggest always having two cables plugged in at the same time. If you just put one stereo cable or even a mono cable through the Piezo that should do the job, and you're still able to switch between the two.

  • Hey just one qustion how do you make those 2 ouputs into one, i mean in order to plug in only one. i meam it might me a stupid question but i'm kind of lost. hahah sorry bro.

  • @knguro There are two outputs on the guitar, as you can see. There's no way of making it one output if that's what you're wondering haha, you just have to use one cable and that's it. You don't always have to have two cables in, just because there are two outputs. Look through the video for the times I plug in only one cable to see what it might sound like, or even try it yourself with either a mono/stereo cable! And don't worry if it's a stupid question haha that's what I'm here for!

  • thanks for the video i cant wait for my petrucci lol now i kinda feel like im going to be cinfused when i get it lol

  • @slash5155 Not too confusing at all! If you're going to use a lot of clean just mess around with different cables and settings [just like I did with different cable setups in this video]. Also at the back of the guitar, try using more treble/bass to really get that sound that you like.

  • @waynesworld91 i guess so......does the piezo effect the distorted lead channels? because im more of a metal player

  • @slash5155 It makes a slight difference, not for the better though. Piezo is obviously meant for an acoustic/clean tone. If you're probably going to get this guitar, the stock DiMarzio pickups are good enough for a metal tone. Check out some of my other videos, I'm sure you'll see what I mean. On top of that, I'm using a terrible amp that I'm trying to get upgraded to something a lot better, so my tone can be a LOT better.

  • OK still trying to figure this out. The stereo cable is it a y cable with 3 inputs or just the 2 input one like the mono?

  • @belt432 The stereo cable is just a quarter inch to a quarter inch. An easy way to determine if your cable is stereo or mono is just to look at the tip of it. If you see one little "ring" at either end, that means you have a mono cable [mono = one]. If you have two "rings," your cable is a stereo. There's no Y cable used in this video.

  • Very nice ,what brand stereo cable are you using?

  • @belt432 to be honest, I actually don't know the brand of the stereo cable. The two mono cables were Planet Waves, but the stereo cable is my brother's and I'm not too sure. However, I've used a stereo Yorkville cable [Canada based company], and found that it's about the same quality of what I had with the cable that I used in this video. Hope this helps!

  • this is the best review by far.. Hey how much did you pay for yours?

  • @blackpoopshadowfear it was $2100+ tax and such, it came up to 2400 in total [Canadian]. Call your music stores though! I called every store up to New York and I found that a lot of music stores really jack up their prices [not to name any]. But one store was around 2400 BEFORE tax, and another was 2800 in total. I also talked to someone from MusicMan and heard that the price had been raised up this year.

  • ahh very helpful vid! the next guitar im planning on getting is the same exact JP7..the 7 string world is calling out to me =P

  • wow dude, thanks a lot for this vid! I'm waiting for my mystic dream 7 string, and now I have something to watch while I wait.

  • great explanation. I just got one and this helped a lot.

  • thanks man, that really helped!

    (y)

  • Hi there, great vid. I'm in the search for a jp7 myself and was somewhat mystified by the different outputs and their uses. Great explanation!

Out of curiosity, what brand/gauge strings do you use on your JP7?

  • Hey...I'm actually using the stock strings. They're the Ernie Ball custom RPS 10-56. Thanks for watching!

  • dude this makes my next guitar purchase hard cause that petrucci guitar sounds awesome, but i am thinking about going to an 8 string ibanez, or even a rc7 dean (the chaeper one haha) but this seems like the most versitile!! awesome vid
