Therefore what happened to Muslims nowadays? Why they're so backwardness in comparison to other parts of the world? Not only Europe and Americas but also (or maybe above all) non-muslim Asia. I don't mean just technologically. Why this medieval obscurence didn't vanished like everywhere else?
thank god for youtube. i don't understand why bbc iplayer isn't allowed in ireland, the majority of us watch bbc. yet we're permitted to watch 4od, how frustrating.
Yes all religions must be dealt equally and just. Right now Islam is shown very negatively in the western civilization. I think this is unjust as well. So treat all humans equally and just. This is not done in any goverment at this time.
@Subspace4d Islam is portrayed negatively, but not as it could be portrayed. In fact, people are still very soft toward Islam. The hurtful truth is that Muslims misbehave often which makes them unpopular throughout the world (not just the West). If Muslims were treated equally riots would emerge on the streets for blasphemy.
@Subspace4d This is what - in Europe for that matter - (post-)Christians are over (an evolution that started with the Reformation, which indirectly triggered the Enlightenment over generation until the lower classes finally get influence due to education). In many a-Islamic society (as in Europe) it's still considered normal to use excessive violence for the least sign of blasphemy.
Equal treatment for Islam would be putting it under a lot of pressure, like Christianity is put under pressure.
If the Muslims who follow the idea that they live in a 'new djahiliya' and seek to live under 'devine' (barbarous in my book) Shari'a law and truly believe that apostacy needs to be punished by death, women are less than men, homosexual needs to be executed, etc... and that once they're the ruling class non-Muslims need to accept Muslim domination; it very normal people are not a fan of Islam. Also during the Islamic Golden Age non-Muslims had to be careful. There's always a double-edged sword.
@kalefles well then answer me this, why were Jews living a much better life with these "barbarous" Muslims than they ever did with Christians?
during the crusades non-Muslims had the freedom of worship and travel in the holy land, but during the rains of European Christians, non-Christians were met with mass slaughter.
Christian scientist in Europe were scared for their live from the Vatican. worried to say something they wouldn't like, and be labeled as heretics and executed!
you still have a journey of research before you. Remember this on your travels, think no evil, see no evil, hear no evil. And watch the difference. Just because you keep seeing the sun from one angle, it doesnt mean thats all there is. peace.
Why you want to fight your muslim brother? I am muslim but i belive in the freedom of science and religion and politics. Those things must be separated because the whole science, goverment and religion in the land is not muslim and theirfore needs freedom of choice. In Quran is written: "LA IQRA FIDDIN"
you and many like you call your self muslims but in fact you dont know anything about islam.science and religion go hand in hand and God has created all of them so how can it not go hand in hand.there is no secularism in the muslim history and pl like YOU with your new thinking is something new in islam and it must not have any room in the ortodox islam."No represion in RELIGION" has nothing to do with science but with religion
The main reason for holding science secular is that knowledge is not only given to muslims but other humans on earth are also Gods favoret creations and get some nice things. So the since their is no "represion in Religion" and we need the knowledge of non muslims as well as Prophet Mohammed told us. We must allow to science to become apart from religion. Because the non muslim scientist will feel them represed by that. So they will not join the science. Freedom is best.
If I say I am muslim then you have no right to say that I am non muslim.
Second.
If I say that the goverment and science must be separated from religion. Then its right because. Where is islamic science and religion now? They are way back. Others have taken your flag and are winning the race. So still science is separated from religion. Its totally true. Our current situation prooves it Humans in Islamictheir territory die from hunger
Humans in Islamic Goverments like senegal are in hunger and are thirsty, while the Arabic sheiks are playing in Poker halls and other bad stuff. Where is this all leading? I know its not islamic but then islam only remain unpractible theory, when it comes to Goverment and science.

I thought that the greeks believed that the earth was flat, as we hear stories of alexander's army being scared of falling off the edge of the earth if they went beyond India.....
Merhaba, dear abdullahyo, and thanks for the comments and these lovely videos.
Yes, Al-Biruni's method was fantastic and his calculation even more accurate that Eratosthenes, but Eratosthenes' finding was not bad either IF you consider him using Egyptian stadiums (in which case his error was also something less than 1%) rather than Attic stadiums (in which case the error was much greater and something like ~16%).
Ancient Greeks had several ideas about the shape of the earth (i.e. spherical, rectangular, etc.) with the spherical idea being the most widely accepted after a point, and the notion was much earlier than both Eratosthenes and Alexander. One of the first Greeks ever advocated on a spherical earth was Pythagoras, a pre-Socratic mathematician who lived during the 6th cent. BC in Samos.
After Pythagoras others tried to estimate the earth size, including Plato and Archimedes and also Aristarchus
Indians as well were trying to produce the same calculation, and Aryabhata was a great Indian mathematician who lived during the 5th cent AD and described the earth as spherical while he also calculated its size with an error of 1%.
And then the Muslims not only accumulated and used their earlier knowledge, but with Al-Biruni (as described in the video) improved the method and attributed significantly to the field before the western Europeans finally advanced and progressed it even further.
