  • (raises hand) so basically we're all screwed....

WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME THIS BEFORE!

  • ACKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! Why didn't anyone tell me this BEFORE!

  • knowledge is power.

  • another break with Hurricane Bill missing NYC and The east Coast.

  • HURRICANE BILL

  • I didn't see the Long Island Express first hand, my mother told me about it. She was 8 at the time. I do remember from 1954 to 1997 all the Hurricanes which smacked into Long Island. If you haven't seen a hurricane in the metro NY area, well, don't take it lightly. A cat2 can be very dangerous.

  • CHECK OUT SEAWOLF150DOT COM

  • we really have to get prepared for this

  • i dont think he wants a scenario like that to take place...but by 2011, i hope everyone in New York will have done everything to prepare. More people will have moved in by then, economy still in the crapper, this would be sheer disaster

  • The storm surge will be about 30 feet so the areas in Washington Heights that is 30 feet above sea level or less will be underwater. Where it's more than 30 feet above sea level wll be above water.

  • Can storm surge affect the upper west side of manhattan like on 181st in washington heights? i know the hudson river is there but the reason for my question is because that area is very high above the hudson river.

  • Would I be safe from storm surge if im staying in Washington heights by the G.W. Bridge. I know that hudson is rite there but the reason why i question that is because that area is very high up from the hudson.

  • Wow, the Hudson River on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. It almost sounds similar to New Orleans. Very scary stuff.

  • ts hanna did not do damange in new york

  • how titalating. maybe superman can use his super-breath and blow the hurricane off course.

  • Yeah, but he forgets that a category three would likely blow out glass in most buildings, and that wind intensity increases the higher you go. If its a category 3 on land with winds of 110 miles per hour, itll be a category 4 just a few hundred feet up since theres little wind resistance.

  • Well, we just dodged a bullet this past weekend with Hurricane Hannah turning into Tropical Storm Hannah before it made it to NY metro regional didn't we? Interesting how this interview was a year ago. Bill said a storm was due to hit this year. The season's not over yet.

  • oh shoot!thats bad....hope everyone survived

  • so does that mean that theres a chance that

New York will get hit by a Hurricane somewhere this Year?Since Hong Kong its

    already in a typhoon.

  • Yup the average 70 year storm will hit this year. Hey Kyzersawsay wanna go to disneyland?

  • okay, we just hit the 70 year mark this June 1st when the season begins... *packs a bag*

  • It's okay... The 70-year thing is not much different than a 100-year flood. During the course of that time, there is a given percentage of a chance that it could occur during those 70 years. So while we're at the anniversary mark, it doesn't mean it's going to hit this year. It may be next year, may be 10 or 20 years. Hard to say... Hang in there. ;)

  • really informative video... definitely looking forward to more from The Daily Green :)
