Yeah it looks sedimentary for sure, not sure what exactly it is. Judging by how easily they were handling those blocks they can't have weighed more then 50 Ibs.
Must be a limestone or other sedimentary stone quarry. That stone seems to be cut very easily. Obviously it is not volcanic like the region I live in..

They don't spend much effort when they re-align the rails
Not sure why a bandwas isn't used to cut this soft stuff, since they would loose a lot less stone.
