  • wow Lyle, that is kind of what it looks like when the weather people predict a big blizzard here in Tennessee but not to that extent. They have been Showing Tokyo on the news and it's weird to see a city that's usually so busy with so few people walking around

  • @ccr1965 Yeah, it's weird. The combination of blackouts, erratic train operation, and radioactive fallout makes it seem like the best place to be is home, and so it's really changed the rhythm of the city. It's really strange to read how people flying out of Japan are getting checked for radiation.... - LHS

  • Why are most of the shelves empty? Were people preparing for evacuation or something like that?

  • @cosmo2593 The rotating blackouts seem to be what triggered it. People want to stock up on food that doesn't need to be refrigerated, and also to have emergency food in case they have to run somewhere.... Many gasoline stations are also sold out of gasoline, and flashlights, batteries etc, are also sold out. - LHS

  • Are you going to evacuate Tokyo?

  • @Headcheezonium If the Fukushima plant goes completely Chernobyl, then I might. I'm hoping that they'll get it uncer control though... - LHS
