Maestro Serafin. There is little doubt that this majestic and magnificent conductor has had a tremendous impact on the history of opera and the maturation of some very eminent artists… Ponselle, Callas, Gobbi, etc. However, this particular rendition leaves cold as a wet fish. Perhaps the repetition of the same old theme proves a real struggle for the modern listener.Thank goodness we have these wonderful musical time capsules preserved for posterity to rely on. True conducting is a dying art.
