no, the ions dont. the release of the hydrogen, (HYDROchloric acid) obviously causes pressure build up the bottle. its the same as over inflating a balloon, but with a plastic bottle that can hold an incredible amount of pressure before failing.

So the aluminum reacts with the acid forming hydrogen ions and the hydrogen ions cause the bottle to blow apart. Cool!

If the aluminium balls are smaller it will work better and the more you place the bteer

Not correct :D, making smaller balls just slows the process down, because the acid needs more time to react with the aluminium, becase your spheres have smaller surface and they are more compact. And adding more aluminium will not make a bigger bang only speed it up a bit. Check out my vid. i made that with 1 aluminium ball(thats why its slower, but the bang is not weaker)
