Thanks for sending me Blogs on my Maria Lauren Site! I especially loved the special stories that my 'Golddigger sisters' sent about Dean Martin and The Rat Pack! Fun Times!!!
My first crush was on one of the Golddiggers! I was probably around 5 years old. All I can remember was that she frequently wore her hair in pigtails. Even today, after so many years, I think back to how much I loved the show. YouTube has made me very happy to be able to go back in time to see these beauties again.
Yes, it was fun to watch the Golddiggers on the Dean Martin Show, but when the group got its own half-hour show, called "The Golddiggers" -- that was heavenly! We got to know the individual Golddiggers by name. Besides the large group performances, there were small groups and even some solos. Wish I could remember who gave a serious solo rendition of "Greensleeves" -- the audience laughed at first, not realizing it was serious, but later understood, appreciated it and applauded.
I remember! Yes, I was one of them ... performing as a Dean Martin Golddigger for over 3 decades! Let me say that Dean was always a gentlemen. A class act! We were so lucky to perform with "Showstoppers" like Dean, Frank etc. but most of all to share a sisterhood with the rest of the girls. I keep meeting more and more of us. Sharing the stories is fun! We share a legacy ... a show business that has faded away but is still in our hearts. Love, Maria
Hey great to hear from one of the singer/dancers. Was it on Dean's show, or a separate "Golddiggers" show that they did the opening "Pow Pow Pow" theme? You may not have had anything to do with singing this, but you might remember that the moves basic punches and such. And I still recall one song the group did called "Walking in the Rain". What show show was that from (Dean's?). Thank you
@DeansGold First let me say, you had all my brothers at Tau Delta Phi drooling every Thursday night. I need to ask you this , what was the name of the Ding-a-Ling Sister who was a brunette and had an soprano operatic voice
@Eagle027 Hi! The Ding-a-Ling who had the wonderful soprano voice was Tara. When I traveled on the road performing with The Golddiggers, people from the audience would think I was her because of my long dark hair and some of the soprano songs I sang in the group... good times! ;-)
@freedomsgold Thank you to much, for the info, I still have a boyhood crush on you all. Fortunately, I only cheat on my wife of 35 years with my eyes. Only way I've gotten away with it.
@DeansGold Did you ever run into bob hope groucho marx's son stated he was a cheap lecherous jerk and read elsewhere he was evil behind the facade most stars have,Any thoughts, just wondering,I always liked Deano a bartender from my hometown is from steuben ohio [deans hometown]
