Crazy beagle playing/growling

my beagle is only 9 weeks old but never growls, barks, howls or makes any noise. is that normal? i heard beagles are very noisy but mine just bites!

i think it depends of their personnality, its like for humans...plus some dogs realise they have a voice after ages!

Yes...my beagle was quiet at first too..but around 10,5 weeks she met one of the puppies in the neighbourhood (a noisy one) and all of a sudden started to bark and growl when she plays(just like the pup in the video)...but she's still the very sweet but a bit more noisy:P

ah ye mine is good bit older now, just over 5 months now i think but now he wont stop!! if you leave him alone he goes crazy!

Mine is just over 8 months and she still doesn't stop doing that because she actually likes it...I usually mimick her sounds...She loves that!

ye mine barks and howls but the only only time he ever growls is when he is eating and you go near his food!! haha hes getting fat now, must put him on a diet!

I think that the real-world event that dogs train for with tug-of-war is "worrying" vermin (by grabbing their heads and shaking them silly).

I don't think it makes a dog mean towards humans; if anything, a dog is probably a little more comfortable around people if it knows it can play a rough game like tug-of-war without getting hurt.

my beagle does the same thing, growls and snarls when playing with me or my other dog. Keeps the annoying little kids away in the neighborhood though. Wouldn't harm a soul though. Miss Sally O'Mally rolls right over when you walk over to her upset.

Maddie has interesting markings with that streak down her back. Our greyhound mix has a diamond on her butt. :) Maddie's ferocious sounding, but I bet she's really a marshmallow. LOL
