  • the dead 280z

  • ruined a beautiful car.. do this shit to a fucking mustang or something.. leave the z's alone.. they arnt meant to have v8's or a damn jet engine.

  • Careful not to hit 88!

  • Zxxxx

  • BOOSTED MUCH!! LOL

  • why?

  • miles per galon?

  • @NewGameReleases Gallons per mile, more likely.

  • @NewGameReleases nope gallons per mile

  • Now maybe soon this guy will mount a more efficient engine called gun-engine invented by a Polish Canadian Kazimierz Stan Holubowicz. Just google it.

  • hmmm, the road going down to the Bonneville Salt Flats.. wonder if he opened that car up on it?

  • THAT IS EFFING SICK. and im just trying to get the fuel injection on mine to work properly!

  • that is EFFING SICK!!!!!!!!

  • I love jet engines.

  • There are two things my dad loves, jet engines and Datsun 280Zs.

  • when this baby hits 88mph..your gunna see some serious sh*t

  • will it run on any fuel? What about Milage?

  • this is cool how do i put one in my z???

  • my dad has 2 280z's and he put a corvette engine in 1 of em

  • Should be called the 250ZX, if it's an allison 250

  • That HAS to be an Allison 250!! A super funky design but proved to be very effective. The exhaust ducts gives it away. What a beaut!! Wish I had the money for a 250.

  • Good for you man! This was a lot of work to make it right!

  • sounds lie the fuckin batmobile from 1966

  • heat and noise, two things that must be reduced for it to become the next generation automobile.

  • This video is great. See my home energy stuff using Home Wind Turbines and solar panels. I won a Green Design Contest with my product on EarthDay

    C-ya

  • it sounds like a jet !

  • @kerunchiu O... it's actually a jet engine... holy shit

  • Wow...reminds me of the Batmobile.

  • this is the most awesome thing on youtube

  • Its..... beautiful.

  • is that a PT6 engine?

  • The whole time I was watching, I was expecting the car to transform lol!

  • Superb effort. I was wondering if a prop from a helicopter jet turbine could be adapted to fit a rear wheel drive box. Now I need to find one. :-)

  • this is fucking beautiful

  • its a 280zx, just FYI lol

  • whats the mpg but really who cares when you got that engine damn badass

  • Dude that is fucking AWESOME....Love it...

  • The ultimate windshield defroster.

It must be mounted backwards since the fresh air is being drawn from the big air scoop near the windshield.

  • hows the acceleration?

  • I like it but didn't hear a BOV???

  • bull shit on turbo z! jk insane engineering. all it needs is after burners now =D

  • so basically the acceleration sucks?

  • hahahah magnificent! how much horsepower do you think that's making?

  • It is like it is begging for a Flux capacitor on the back... Thanks for the vid. Amazing bit of engineering.

  • so now I know what pure epicness looks like...

  • its just a novelty thing putting turbine into vehicles, most of them are just loud and slow.... the Y2k jetbike got blasted by a stock R1

  • Shit! I'm surprised It didn't catch fire!

  • i loved the desert-where is it?

  • Madness! Good job.

  • If it just wasnt so damn loud lol. awesome tho

  • That's half of the fun

  • who makes the digital rectangular gauges installed in this car? I also have a turbine car with a Boeing T50 in it and wabt to replace my aircraft analog gauges to the same large digital gauges seen on this Datsun.

  • Its a helicopter turbine, not out of a plane. Helicopter turbines have a drive shaft and dont use thrust to make the helicopter fly like an aeroplane.

  • Haha.. This is awesome! Pretty sweet that he can run on almost any type of fuel he wants

  • wow..is a plaine !!!

  • i wount believe it till i see under the bomet

  • u gud spell sir

  • I think im in heaven

  • those arent intakes dumbass...their the beautiful dual exhaust ducts from what i believe is an allison 250 turboshaft. 6 stages of axial compression, one stage centrifugal, reverse flow combustor, and a free(power) turbine as well as a gas generator turbine. that is fucking insane,

  • wow

  • how much did this cost? i have a 81 280zx

  • This one appears to have an Allison 250, it may be the 250C20B/ C28/ C30 model. These engines are around $65,000+ for a used one. Check out allisonforsale on the web. These engines are the same one found on Jay Leno's Y2K turbine bike. It puts out around 317-450 shaft horsepower depending on the model you choose.

  • wow thanks for the info i seriously would have never known thumbs up man!

  • no problem, I also have a turbine powered car. I'll post it on my youtube home page when i get the time.

  • now all your missing is reverse thrust!!

  • i have a dotsun 280 zx and my question is how much do they cost for a jet engine

  • I would never ever, ever, ever sacrifice my Q7 V12 TDi for something gas thirsty, LOUD and unbelievably ugly intakes.

Tough. that was interesting. but, I'm happy with my engine. LOL

  • no way!!!whats the top speed maybe 150/160?

  • no tienen la mas remota ideo del fierrazo que es...

  • sweet sounds

  • RR allison 250

  • あんまり速くないじゃん

  • anyone know where i can find diagrams or anything as to how this thing works and is put together?

  • sounds like a jetranger helicopter, also exhaust in the same spot.

  • yeah, that's gotta be a jetranger engine, LOL

  • That hood scoop needs some serious rework.

  • Must have a buddy that does HVAC.

  • Awesome ZX, gotta love the sound of that engine spooling up.

Feel it is probably real, but regardless enjoyed the entertainment!!!

  • It's not fake, it's a SHAFT turbine folks, not an aircraft turbine

  • thought so

  • I know the guy who owns this, it is very much real. In fact he is in the process of swapping a 450hp Rolls roys Turbine into it. He is also building a 1100hp turbine jet boat. He is a cheif engineer for a turbine company.

  • how much gas does it need on 100 km??xD

  • Fake or not its still awsome.

  • didn´t you see the flames?

  • Comment removed

  • maybe he wasn't going for performance, ever think of that, I would love to have a car with a turbine motor in it, you will turn more heads in this than most any other car, just by the sound alone, who cares if it's not fast.

  • Some of us just love the engineering chalenge. but maybe that's because we're not afriad to actually achive something difficult. As opposed to bitching on the internet.

Maybe you'd feel better if I let you suck me off.

  • @crofty1984 no it's a silly idea from nearly every angle. they just had an engine laying around and more time on their hands than common sense. 0-100 it's a slug. FOD nightmare. (yes I have military aviation experience) the noise is incredible and damaging,( I have tinnitus from flight deck duty.) not to mention a danger to other cars from jet blast, and the driver from the inevitable compressor fan parts being expelled at 100,000 rpm when the FOD eats the powerplant.

  • @crofty1984 in summary it IS an engineering challenge to be respected. when the first guy did it.

all that come after should be widely ridiculed for not learning the lesson that it was pointless.

  • @batvette why do you care so much buddy? he wanted to do it, and had the time and resources to complete it. its a better use of his time than just sitting around watching tv. but you sound too negative about this cool project to be an engineer, so you wouldnt understand...

  • @VinL4DiN go to photobucket, user name batvette.... I've built a few things. in fact I'll get a link and leave it on my youtube user page just for you.

  • @batvette you made a wannabe batmobile out of a corvette? AAAAHahahahahahah that might be the funniest thing i have ever seen in my life. i only see one of the "few things" you have apparently made.....

  • @VinL4DiN I didn't seek your approval of my projects, but to merely provide evidence that your implied assertion that I merely "sit around and watch TV" and "wouldn't understand" is just plain wrong. BTW there are two vehicles in that album, and thanks for taking the time to look.

The Corvette qualified for the IASCA World Finals in 1998.

  • @batvette i never implied that you "just sit around and watch tv".... should probably learn to read because i was talking abuot the guy in the video!!! nice job with the batvette, even though i think its a odd thing to make.

  • @crofty1984 Literally one of the best things I have ever read.

  • @crofty1984 That was friggen EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow... ya right lol he would be flying on that straight away.... But nice sounds

  • Super cool * L * for night rider Super Pursuit Mode lol

  • by the look of the exhaust stacks and sound i think it might be a allison 250 turboshaft

  • or its just fake and your a moron

  • Look it up, years back chrysler put a turbine engine into a car of theirs, due to fuel consumption and lengthy acceleration it didnt make it to production. The Abrams M1 tank is powered by a lycoming turbine and Jay Leno's MTT Y2k Jet superbike is powered by an allision 250 [the same engine in Jet ranger helicopters]. It is a very easy application. Do some research before you call them a moron.

  • "atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed"

  • how do they work i thought turbines only made thrust how is it turned into centrivical force like a flywheel

  • there are different types of turbines, theres: turbofan and turbo jet wut your thinking of, theres Turboshaft which is wut is in this, and turbo prop

  • Yeah. Think about it, M1 Abrams uses a turbine engine and I can assure you it isnt thrust, same with Apache Helicopoters.

  • same with almost all helicopters, and prop planes like the c130 Hercules, dash 8, p3 orion, almost any helicopter or modern prop driven plane. :)

  • Your close with the helo engine, but there is no way it is close to a prop engine, I should know. The turbine section is similar in all jets helos and props but the componants are each VERY unique. NTM the c130 and p3 engines are as big as the car its self, js. BTW before anyone says im wrong, im a Machinist mate for P3 Orion's.

  • not saying the motor is same, just the concept. How did u come to work on p-3s my dad flew hurks for the raaf.

  • United States Navy still uses the P-3's but in afew years im switching over to P-8 Posiden's which are turbo fan, thus eliminating almost all Turboprop's out of the military, with afew exceptions. We have alot of transitions coming about now an days, P-3/P-8 Proweler/Growler Hornet/Super Hornet- JSF. Oh and yeah everyone, its real, probbly powered by a APU, there much smaller with intakes just like that. Its either powered By the apu or uses one to power a small turboshaft.

  • if you have thrust, then you can use it to turn a fan, thus creating a torque

  • umm thats a 280zx, but oh well. that is f-ing amazing i want one

  • that's BITCHIN !!..I'd love to do that to a truck..put the jet engine in the bed. :).

  • any idea what the power ratings like? or fuel consumption for that matter? hehe

  • your an idiot

  • is that even legal?

  • sure it is... =P

  • The sound was amazing

    How the number of horses?

    Is there accelerated its

  • i would be pissed if i heard that thing every morning when my neibor goes to work

  • @ 0:39 WE NEED TO GET TO 88 MPH!!!!

  • LOL

  • thats why deloreans were so slow. they ran off of beer cans and banana peels.

  • hahahaha

  • Plenty of power but shit acceleration.

Who wants to wait 30 seconds before they pull away?

Now if they'd used the turbine to power a generator and a smallish battery pack, then run the drive chain from an electric motor that would work much better.

  • This allison engine can be run up to full power with the brakes on then let her rip, it can potentially deliver maximum power and torque the second you release the brakes - but you risk losing it big time!.

  • I like the multi-fuel capability, but I still would want one running a car by a direct mechanical drive chain.

Put it in a hybrid and you have the best of both worlds.

You don't have to wait for it to get up to full power, you can get going using the same technology as the fastest accelerating cars ever made use, and then cruise using one of the most powerful, efficient and flexible engines ever designed.

    Win-win.

  • This is a TURBINE engine. It iscoupled to a final drive, and doesn't use thrust like regular JET engines. Chrysler had a turbine engined car years ago. It turns the wheels.

  • umm.. jet engines propel by pushing air out the back at high speed, i did not see anything at the back that shows an air duct.

    how exactly does it work?

  • It's a turboshaft engine, the turbine spins a shaft which is geared down and connected to the rear wheels.

  • that is friggin crazy sounds like a jet

  • WTF?!?!? that fuckin genius

  • I bet those breaks get nice and toasty

  • what about a compact 400 shp allison

  • That's not a 280Z. That's a 280ZX. 280Z is different.

  • beat the ssc aero easily with a jet turbine production vehicle!

  • thats crazy. Yeah it doesn't look fast on video.. I bet its great in person tho!

  • Never mind needing oxygen to breath.

  • is it smog legal?

  • Its not very fast

  • freaky sounding

Is this legal on public streets or strictly a racing car?

    What speeds can you reach?

  • WOW

  • thats the same enigine used in the Y2K motorcycle. that engine is lifted from a bell jet ranger hellicopter. it has around 320-450 SHP (shaft horese power) because this engine does not put out thrust for propulsion, it puts its power to a shaft. the y2k bike does a top speed of 250 mph and can do 0-200 mph in 15 sec. infact, MTT,(marine turbine technologies) the guys who made the y2k bike also made a turbine powered picup truck that can go 900 miles without refueling.

  • how did you transfer the energy from the turbine to the wheels, did you create a special transmission or is it running of the thrust alone??

  • +1 for doing something different in a sexy z car

  • i may be wrong but it look like it would have been more practical and cheaper and faster if they would have swap an rb26, but if they just wanted to do something different then this is bad ass.

  • Fantastyczne :o

  • man do this to series 6 RX7 and have a true sounding batmobile...

  • sweet..I want to do that to my GTO! ha!

  • turbine cars get like 5 MPG

  • I believe it's real considering the position of the intake and the exhaust. A lot of smaller turbine engines feature a wrap around design where the compressor scroll wraps around the accessory gear box to enter the combustion chamber. Which then forces gas to the fwd part of the engine to drive the fan shaft to turn the power from the turbines to a drive shaft. That energy is also used to power the compressor.

  • But I'll also add that only 1 engine is in that car.

  • Cool swap;)

  • 300ZX rules all its already tuned to 500-650hp from the factory all you need is the injector swap and a computer tune. So say that no zx couldn't keep up with the same year corvette 89-96 300ZX beat the crap out of corvette's and ferrari's the Zo6 is the closest thing that could keep up. oh yea and the top speed was 200mph. You could make the tune for about $1500-2000 way cheaper then any vette. If you dont believe me look it up.

  • Actually you are wrong about the power, the 300ZX TT(Z32) has 300 horsepower, though you can tune it to have 500-650hp, but your gonna have to spend more than $2000 to get it to do 200mph. And just for the record, ALL 300ZXs were built from '83-'00(for the rest of the world; Z31 was '83-'89, Z32: '89-'00) true it is less than a 'Vette, but your gonna need to spend some money to beat it. oh, and Ferrari is way out of ANY Z or ZX's league.

  • i was talking about the TT version here in america they stopped shipping them here in 96' since no body changes happened. And I shit you not about the cheap upgrades for power.. The Japanese aoutomanufactors limited there horsepower cars to 285bhp which is 300hp The designers built it so the cosumer could easily get the 5-600hp Check out the car magazines of the and they did outbeat ferrari

  • dumbass, 285 BHP (Base HorsePower) is NOT 300 horsepower. maybe youre thinking of whp?

  • Ironically the ferrari 328 and 348 which came out during the time, could and would be beatin by the Z32 300zx TT not on paper but on the road tests.

  • interesting. are you sure its a stock Z32TT? i mean they do have some good potential, but to me a ferrari does seem out of its league. but then again im not totally into any "Z" or ZX after '78, im only into the S30s.

  • yeah the 90 Z32 TT was actually faster but your talking .2 and .5 of a second it and the R32 basically took the japanese from fast to grand and sports tourer level, but hey since the R32 was targeting the 911 turbo and the Z32 was targeting 944/924/968 chassis, which coinside with the 328/348 even the Mondial Ferrari they all have similar amount of power, similar amount of dry weight, and you would be surprised what they did, heck these are baby ferrari, not like the awesome 288 gto or the F40

  • For me I owned a 71 HS30 240z and a 82 280zx 2 seater, and several Z32's and in my opinion I loved the 240 for share fun and simple, the 280zx was a supercharged inline 6 and so far the fastest..period, and now I love the Z32 because of the fact you can drive them anywhere and feel damn good, but of course I am in the process of modifying it...

but then again they are still being made today no one has to like them but they have a long history and it seems to carry on for long time yet... Z.

  • wow, that is pretty cool and interesting.

  • that isn't a 280Z, its a 280ZX. hense the fucked up hood and lack of grille. its from when Datsun turned into Nissan. in my opinion, Nissan fucked the Z cars up. the 350"Z"- looks nothing like the originals. atleast this looks close to an S30 (240Z, 260Z, and 280Z). this one is a S130, so its not a true Z car.

  • I'll stand by that. 280ZXs were hairdresser cars.I've owned a few real Zeds (Aus haha!) The current 240z is gaining a twin charged VH45DE. Though I will miss the 200hp NA sidepiped L26 sound... That said a turbine engine wouldbe awesome,bu then I'd need 3 cars!

  • ya got that right, these cars are for hairdressers. i remember seeing an episode of monster garage where they put a jet engine in a newer celica and they had to make the car like 3 feet longer. but with a Z or ZX you'd need atleast 3 cars. lol

  • your not a true z fan. say what you want. if you were a true fan you would appreciate all the generations. come on your not a fan of the z32 TT its still one of the most beautiful and most technologically advanced cars in the world. and nissan is infact the creator of the z. you must remember that datsun was here stateside but in japan the z was called a nissan fairlady.

  • I only appreciate the TRUE Z-cars, a.k.a. the S30s. This isnt even a Z32, its an S130, atleast it looks like an original S30. All Nissan did was put a bigger engine, witch isnt an I6 like the S30s and S130s, and just tried to go after the Toyota Supras in the '90s. The S30s were designed to go against the Corvettes of their time on Trans-Am style tracks, anything after '78 cant compete with a 'Vette of the same year. And i do own a 1977 Datsun 280Z, the last of the TRUE Z-cars.

  • i know this is an s130. you must remember that nissan has changed the cars overtime to attract the people of those times.even the z32 did go against muscle cars in the states. toyota supra in japan. but even with the increased curb weight of the z32 the car with its high output engine was and is still a contender with cars in its respective class. and the z32 with its introduction in 89 was a worthy contender to the corvette.

  • ok, what about the S130, Z31, and Z33. now that you nemtion it, the Z32s do seem capable of competing with the 'Vettes of the same years. but I highly doubt that an S130 can go against a Corvette since my '77 280Z can beat any stock 280ZX, NA or turbo(my 280Z is stock too btw). the Z31 is possible. but the Z33, theres no way that thing can compete with a 'Vette of the same year, its too much of a tuner. but i guess there are other cars to go after instead of american muscle cars.

  • sorry about the earlier post. i was under a different name. respond to this one.

  • what a total waste of a classic

  • If crashes clenching the wheel like that his arms will twist together like a twizzler.

  • That thing is hideous, I can get more bitches with my Geo!
