I realize that we do not fully understand how the universe came to be. How can you expect us to know this in such a short period of time? Significant scientific advancements have only taken place in the last few hundred years. The age of the Earth is 4.54 billion years old. The universe is 13.75 ± 0.13 billion years old.
The bible says the Earth is less than 10,000 years old. I’m not sure why Christians get their science from the Flintstones...
theres an episode of ancient aliens on the HISTORY channel where the researchers talk about the sumerians having an alien encounter where they worshipped the aliens as gods and the aliens (or gods) told them that they created humans. and the sumerians recorded what the aliens told them on what is today known as the "sumerian tablets." everyone should look it up
"The Epic of Gilgamesh" pre-dates Noah by 1,500 years. A Sumerian myth where God tells Gilgamesh to build an ark & place animals on it to escape a great flood. "Sargon of Akkad" pre-dates Moses by centuries - baby Sargon was placed in a basket of rushes by his mother, placed in a river then he was drawn from the water and later becomes king. See "Mythraism" where Mythras (pre-dates Jesus) has a very similar story. He too was a savior-god, born Dec 25, laid in a rock tomb, ascended to heaven etc.
@PenanceofDoom And where did that come from? In the end it takes faith to believe whatever you believe. I personally think it takes more faith to believe that something started from nothing than to believe that there is some super being that started it all.
@goaliebrent Well, in nature Amino Acids which form protobionts naturally as we have found in microbiology are natural and exist. This can be proven thanks to micro biology thus requiring no faith. I would rather not subscribe to some ludicrous belief in a book talking about a spooky father figure that created everything. I'll admit, I don't know what happened but I'm much more willing to keep searching for answers instead of taking some ancient text at face value and mosying along.
Some of your points can be explained for various reasons that would only be speculative such as there not being evidence of the Israelis wondering in the desert. There is some evidence that the Red sea drowned Egyptian chariots. There have been artifacts found and i can't remember any specifics except that there were chariot wheels found deep within the Red sea. Going back to Geness, it could simply be that the 1st example was a run-through of the creation while the 2nd is a more detailed acount
Actually, it WAS possible for the floods to cover the whole earth. Within the middle of the Atlantic there is a mid-Atlantic ridge. This appears to be where Pangaea originally split. Within the bible it says something about the waters coming up out of the ground. It may have been that there was water below or in the crust and great pressure caused the crust to open up and create the mid-Atlantic ridge. Since that was near the middle of Pangaea, it may have initially covered all the land.
@theninjachannel 1st of all that i don't know how that could possibly have been proven unless someone actually went below the crust. Also there doesn't have to be water in the crust now because it could have all or most of all been forced to the surface of the earth during the Great Flood.
There's plenty of water to cover the earth. If all the mountains and ocean basins were leveled out, waters would rise all over the world to a depth of two miles. The earth's landscape has changed since the flood, which is why aquatic fossils have been found atop Mt. Everest. I don't really understand the point you were making about the Creation story. No offense, but it wasn't very well explained. There is evidence that Jews were in Egypt. That's why manuscripts of the OT are found in Africa.
@tHeEtHmAn18 Saying that all of the mountains on the world leveled out is even more ridiculous than Noah building a boat to house all species of animals. Either way it doesn't work.
im sure you havent heard about the beijing anomaly, where there is the same volume of water as the arctic ocean underneath the earths crust specifically under china. add that water up and there is plenty of water to completely cover the earth.
okay well im a christian and i believe in a higher power. and you say there is no way Noah could do what he did. but you believe there was an explosion that came out of nothing and created everything. atheism and christianty are both religions because you cant explain both of them but everyone believes in each of them. no one will now why we are here until we die
@tay44brass Hmmm, when does he claim to believe in the Big Bang theory? Thats one thing i absolutely hate about Christians, I have never met one that- because i was an Atheist automatically feels its appropriate to assume i believe the big bang theory or any other science theory. I dont! I am an atheist, but i DO NOT believe in the big bang theory, I believe that there is far far far to much unknown about space and the surrounding to make a solid theory about something like creation. so STFU
@theninjachannel I'm aware of this, I'm just saying that we know like 5% of what there is to know about space and the like, so its hard to hold to that idea. Like when everyone thought the world was flat, it was really only a matter of not knowing enough to say otherwise, so they defaulted to whatever they could come up with based on their minimal knowledge. Same thing here in my opinion, not saying its wrong just saying I'm not going to default to believing it.
"In Exodus we have an account of the manner in which Jehovah delivered the Jews from Egyptian bondage. We now know that the Jews were never enslaved by the Egyptians; that the entire story is a fiction. We know this because there is not found in Hebrew a word of Egyptian origin and there is not found in the language of the Egyptians a word of Hebrew origin. So we know that the Hebrews and Egyptians could not have lived together." - Robert Ingersoll

"and there was not a man to till the ground." Gen 2:5
It doesn't say, "and there was not a man".
Fact is, hunters / foragers precede agriculturists in human history..
Hunters / foragers: Gen 1:26-29; 2:5.
Agriculturists: Gen 2:7; 4:2-3.
From 2:7 onward the focus is on that woman and "her seed", and she is NOT called the mother of "all mankind".
Terminology used for the flood in Genesis is used in EXODUS for LOCAL activity: Exo 10:5,15.
The irony and the ignorance is fantastic...

So you believe that life originated in the mud or in crystals like the Darwinian experts claim? Man now that takes faith!!!! LOL!
goaliebrent 11 months ago
@goaliebrent or that tear shaped protobionts formed of amino acids which are in nature evolved into prokaryotes which are the simplest life forms.
