Awesome movie, i loved it since early 96 when i was 13 turning 14 after being impressed by renting Akira on video. I saw GITS in a theater here in Albuquerque with my big brother who was visiting from Las Crusas university, i loved it. I became an anime fan thanks to Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, Akira and this as i rented and bought any anime around.
This song is so powerful, just like the movie. I just watched it, and it's deep. Not what I was expecting. Despite the surprise, I was not dissapointed at all.
The first time I watched this, I wasn't prepared for this powerful song in the opening. Right off the bat, shivers went down my spine, and I just stood there, staring at the screen, mouth open.
I watched Ghost in the Shell 2.0 yesterday. I was only going to watch a little bit to see what they changed, and ended up watching the whole thing through. God I love this movie.
@MrABadDriver she did not believe in Keynesian economics. Or Wealth of Nations for that matter. It sounds to me like according to her philosophy there is an invevitable limit to human development and growth. Specialization is our way of converting growth of a population into technological growth.
Has anyone here played MGS2? GITS' theme really reminded me of MGS2's theme, how informations influence humang beings and all. Nice movie, refreshing. Better than all those lolshooting and actiion1!111 animes.
Ghost In The Shell and Gunnm are my favourite mangas.
I think Ghost In The Shell is more focused on the interaction human-machine. Gunnm is more focused on the social effects caused by the high tecnology without any control.
Just make sure that its the directors cut of Blade Runner you watch, they mutilated the official release to give it a nice ending, and voice-overs. The directors cut is better, its a classic.
Such a haunting song, I love it! I remember watching this on STARZ back in 1997, back when STARZ showed anime on Friday nights. Way better anime than the crap Adult Swim shows now. Great movie, beautiful soundtrack.
WOW the memories...had this original soundtrack on CASSETTE. (remember those? lol) Brilliant movie and sndtrk. Will never forget it. Thanx for posting. 5/5
Ahh Ghost in the Shell. One of the great Legendary Anime Classics. How I love it. I miss that kind of directing. I still say 1985-1996 were the grates time for anime. Directors were on fucking fire then :). I do miss the old hardcore flawless story telling from that time. :( We may never have anything as good as Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, or the good and old Robotech.
A ga maeba, kuwashime yoini keri A ga maeba, teru tsuki toyomu nari Yobai ni kami amakudarite, Yoha ake, nuedori naku, Tookamiemitame / When you are dancing, a beautiful lady becomes drunken. When you are dancing, a shining moon rings. A god descends for a wedding And dawn approaches while the night bird sings. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you.
Ah I needed to hear this song... It's so good. Although I love old-school anime and the cyberpunk genre (AKIRA) I never really liked GITS that much in spite of it having incredible visuals and a really great soundtrack. I just felt like the pace of the story was a bit slow and overly pretentious at times.
it's not Bulgarian Choir. this score is sung by "Nishida-Shachu Minyou Choir," a Japanese old folk song choir. "Minyou" is a genre of Japanese old folk songs. this composer Kenji Kawai tried to have Bulgarian Choir song this score, but he was told it's impossible. Bulgarian Choir can only sing their original scores but others. so, mr. Kawai had "Nishida-Shacu Minyou Choir" sing this piece in "Ghost in the Shell."
Ah never listen to it very loud with crappy audio!
I love this song,it's so haunting and beautiful but when we were watching it (on crappy VHS) in class the other day the volume was up so loud I think my ear drums burst xD
Nope it was definatley English,we were studying "The matrix" and writing an essay comparing it to the bible and using ghost in the shell as another example since they have similar concepts.
The idea of a "one sent to save man kind" the one being sacrificed and then resurected, the idea that our everyday life is a false one, while our true life lies somewhere else, the idea that someone with knowledge can see through this illusion, the judas...there are probably more but I haven't watched the movie in years.
its a japanese bridal song, but done is a a different choir method. give it to mamuro oshi to make it sound this haunting. it's a little petrifying but soothing aswell
This song brings me back...it's so beautiful the way it's sounds it really fits the opening scene of the movie. I want to do something like that some day.
