If the plane comes in from the other side and overshoots the runway it will hit the side of the hilm which is hard. This is much more dangerous than simply overshooting and ending up in the shallow water. There are other videos that actually show planes going into the water and are worth a look.
Yes. Take a look at my cruise ship video. It really is interesting. The force of the props sucking all that water and creating a mini Tsunami. Just click on my name to get to my videos.
actually, the smallest island in the caribbean is Saba. Saba has the smallest commercial runway in the world. I've been to that spot on St. Barth's as well as the beach below. It's amazing!
yes your right,I stand corrected. I do think however the "available" ground for the pilot is less than Saba as the hillside in St Barts keeps a pilot from touching down at the very end or beginning of the strip. In Saba the entire runway is usable. What say you?
Yes , My point is that landing in St Barts is like landing on the inside of a mixing bowl while landing in Saba is like landing out the bottom of an upside down mixing bowl.

I think that the length of the very spot where they usually land in St Barth to the beach is still longer than the entire runway at Saba.
