Victoria Williams is Country Grunge at its finest. Not because of Pearl Jam covering this song before her, but because of the angst-ridden atmosphere of the song and the music video.
darn, the video doesn't quite match up with the music. Still glad you posted it though- I have all her albums and it's great that people can find her on You Tube at all! thank you!
Windows Movie Maker moves audio in .07 sec increments... making it extremely difficult to exactly sync the studio track with a vhs video recorded off MTV in 1994! Got it as close as I could with the primitive video editing. I could have used the original audio, but it was edited to fit the video and missed too much of the track. Also, WMG (Warner) blocks all her tracks, and the tie in to The Sweet Relief Fund allowed me to file a dispute to get it posted for educational purposes.
Thank you for posting this. Someone else had uploaded this a long time ago, but it was removed for whatever reason. I'm glad it's back up so peopel can enjoy it. It's a really beautifully shot music video.
OK I should know better, man! Always check the description for edification, education, my bad. Ignorance no-bliss.So Victoria Williams is the original Crazy Mary ~ I didn;t know.
Thanks for sharing this great ORIGINAL, & for the edgymecation!
Well, this one is a little unusual... Pearl Jam released their cover of "Crazy Mary" a year before Victoria released her own version. I can see how people would think it's a PJ song!
I do like this one too...

A good song doesn't need such a literal music video.

Well this has a real quirky, honest feel to it, what a great cover. I like it better than PJ's (though I do dig Eddie's voice)
