  • I love the band, but what the fuck she's saying?

  • @kalungarocker does it matter?

  • They are Scottish. Elizabeth Fraser also sang on Massive Attack's 'teardrop' (great song and viedo).

  • Donnie Darko brought me here

  • ovoxo

  • Very groovy. Sensational.

  • She's speaking in Tongues

  • muzyka mojego życia, uwielbiam:)

  • Saw them live on this tour, great sound and no drummer, ever!

  • No synthesizer here, all of it is guitar.

  • Pure dreampop bliss:)

  • All my praises to the Cocteau Twins, Trully inspirational, unique, and different bands. I wish They gave us more....

  • Uwielbiam ten zespół, ich muzyka - coś pięknego...

  • Intoxicating and absolutely wonderful -- the music and Elizabeth's beautiful blue eyes.......Shear bliss.....

  • CT never gets old. They have been in constant rotation on my walkman, cdman, car tape deck, car cd player, my turntable and my ipod for 25 plus years. No 8 track though. They will be playing at my funeral.

  • @ditimely Absolutely dit..This music was... is and (I believe) always will be regarded as shear sublime beauty....

  • @ditimely If I was going to have a funeral, I'd play this song.

  • i don't know what she's saying but i believe every word of it

  • When is more important get the music than the words.

  • feel like I'm swimming

  • uhne moorea, today en so em meia

gabay fo noo, fo noo vay eh fea

singin on me feema streeee, i want to

luv a bohm a vohm bohm me

my gus in heaven or las vegas

wijuvis mo orida rina zumnis do me

  • @michaelmatteo1 Finally someone figured out the lyrics to Cocteau Twins!!!!

  • @michaelmatteo1 That's exactly what I thought she sang! Down to every streeee and vohm bohm me! :)

  • @michaelmatteo1 Argh! You beat me to it:( Hilarious!

  • @michaelmatteo1

Omg!!! I am laughing so hard... I have tears coming out of my eyes (and I'm a big guy!!). I've ALWAYS thought the same thing - since this song came out in 91? 92? 93?... every time I'd hear this song, I'd say to myself: "what in God's name is she saying?????"

  • @Burnsengine I forget the rest, but the chorus is (in part): "Singing on that famous street..(something about the crowd loving her)-And i guess that's why I'm thinking of Las Vegas-so much brighter than the sun is to me." Beyond that, yer on yer own. They're French and weird--but lovely.

  • @wmfivethree

French? I thought they were Scottish?

  • @michaelmatteo1 hahahahaha

  • @michaelmatteo1 lol, u win!

  • The first chill wave dream pop band I ever heard. When I listen to Washed Out it reminds me of listening to the Couteau Twins in high school. Love em all!!!

  • Singing on a famous street

I want your love above and under me

Mine is in Heaven or Las Vegas

But yours is much more brighter than the sun is to me

To chill this itch in my soul

Is like I need a playing card

Must be why I'm thinking of Las Vegas

Why it's more brighter than the sun is to me

  • @NadestotheFace Not the real lyrics.

  • domenester deliberates over whichwayrun

  • @posypity thanks [its hard to think in cloudedavenue] but i appreciate.

  • So open and heartfelt...

  • 1990'S WERE A GEAT YESR

1990's were great! Where have all those happy times gone?

  • I cant understand a word shes saying, whatever it is...i love it!!

  • Wow, you can really Robin Guthrie's influence on Lush...

  • So much love to this band!

  • Cowgirl Radio brought me here. I like this a lot and lush too.

  • @bruthaflo You might also like Ride, Slowdive, and Curve. Hope that helps.

  • @GonsalvoDeCordova Damn-4got about Curve! Good call!

  • Haha there sure are some stoopid comments about CT. Whats NOT to love? Even geniuses like Prince, and Robert Plant, pop queen's like Madonna and Annie Lennox loved CT, as well as art legends like David Lynch, and writers like Scott Heim. Trevor Horn who produced some of the biggest pop records ever says this is his favourite sounding record of all time. The band co-wrote and co-produced everything themselves. Now bassist simon runs Bella Union (fleet foxes beach house etc) and robin score movies

  • @alela62 well music is subjective, and i can see why some people wouldn't like it. as i write this comment it is my first time ever listening to this song, let alone CT, and personally I'm quite enjoying.

  • Such a classic song. It brings back so many memories!

  • (or stay and spin or win and fail)

  • ever been to las vegas? who'll ever win? gee, you're so epheme (*eral) go back for neue? for neue in vain it failed singing on that famous street i learned to love a vulgar bumblebee but is it heaven, or las vegas? it must be much brighter than the soon is to me this chill must itch in my soul that's like any old playing card that must be why i'm thinking of las vegas... -cocteau was a surrealist playwright...you have to figure out the rest now. or don't. message us.
  • Yeah, I have no idea what she is saying either, but this is still a great tune.

  • Star Slinger's kickass remix brought me here.

  • @heyheyodelay Same here! Love that remix

  • 65 people have no soul

  • @tmlafrance Stuck fast

  • Check out HEALTH -- Goth Star it;s similar to this

  • Timeless song.

After 10 years when i used to listen on cassette, then on CD and now on You-tube this song never gets old.

In few years I'll listen on something different but still this song

  • 90's Shoegaze :) Nice.. look

  • I love you Elizabeth! Thank you for coming to Earth and sharing yourself with the rest of us. We are forever changed.

  • I can never understand what the fuck she's on about, but it's still amazing.

  • Cocteau Twins: private music for private people.

  • @CreamedCheesed Well spoken.

  • @CreamedCheesed Very Well Put..!!

  • @CreamedCheesed Maximum egocentrism.

  • @KillerNanny And that's the fucking beauty of it. If you don't like it, get out.

  • @KillerNanny

funny, that's what i thought when i read your comment...oh, and 'troll' too...lololol

  • yes, kids today listen to nothing but crap, but that's only because that's all there is from their own era to listen to.They're not making what they're listening to, that much is for certain. It's being sold to them by asshole exec's of MY generation. That's the really sad thing. If I were a kid right now, I'd have nothing new to listen to that's any good, thanks to people of my own generation. It's not the kids' fault that they're being sold crap, just remember that. And there will always be crap.

  • Listen to this new band from Mexico

    Band - Sessil

    Song - Airy Lights

  • @AlosMad1111 nothing came up when i looked for it. only art stuff.

  • THIS IS WHAT I CALL MUSIC!

  • stupendaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

  • taking a break from metal feels good what a voice

  • i have been a huge fan of the cocteau twins since the great john peel played them on his radio show all those years ago people keep saying about the lyrics its not about that ,they can be whatever you want them to be ,people who keep saying about the lyrics do not understand the cocteau twins the greatest band of all time the shame is will never see the likes of them again but there music will always be with me till the day i die .

  • starslinger !!! >:D

  • Beautiful, haunting and mysterious---a lot of great music came out of the 80s and early 90s.

  • the best women vioce of the world .......angel voice....... i love this

  • I love their edgier and more experimental work (Treasure, Victorialand et al.), but THIS is easily my favourite Cocteau Twins song of all time -- no other beats this.

  • First heard this song as the credits rolled at the end of the Donnie Darko sequel. Best part of the whole movie XD

  • @mjkittredge ya it was

  • massive tune, great for when im chasing

  • man, i can't understand any word coming out of her mouth...but she sings beautifully...and so heavenly...

  • gatesy313 top notch

  • my fav! you guys might like Rems Floating Chandelier:)

  • Amazing

  • Cocteau Twins is one of the most creative, imaginative, inventive, unique and fascinating groups that's ever been. And Elizabeth has some gorgeous, mesmerizing blue eyes!

  • @brsmith0898

    exactly... her eyes...

  • I like more Robin Guthrie music without voices.

  • 63 idiots!!

  • Thank you very much for the music of those nights...

  • Brilliance. 1990 was something else, man! A wonderful time.

  • @ABCRE2 This is '80s band, '90s my ass, they were catastrophic...

  • @AORCrazy 90's were not catastophic, my dear, there was a lot of crap, as was in the 80's, but also amazing music, as in the 80's. don't be so narrow minded.

  • @pnblank hm, ok, but in my opinion '90s - 80% crap, '80s - 20% crap... a big difference, and i'm not narrow minded, i wouldn't listen to CT, right?

  • @AORCrazy I don't know how you came up with that math :-)) but I beg to disagree, there is a LOT of crap in the 80's, I was there, I saw/heard it. As for not being narrow minded because you listen to CT :-)) no, that only means you're stuck in the 80's man, and never gave the 90's a chance. Besides, CT's best albums are, in my opinion, Heaven or Las Vegas (1990) and the amazing Milk & Kisses (1996). Nuff said.

  • @pnblank - I have to add - 80ies were significantly better in terms of electronic music. Rhythms were much better - drum machines sounded like drums then, unlike mainstream techno in 90-ies.

  • @Marg555 I'll give you that, but then the 90's were much better in terms of guitar music. And I agree with tecnho being apalling. My point here is very simple. When I was 15 smack in the middle of the 80's I had to endure 40 year farts telling me what crap the music I listened to was and that the only good music ever made was from the 60's. The crap music I was listening to was Duran Duran, Gary Numan, Talk Talk, The The, Ultravox and the likes. Crap my ass.

  • @Marg555 (cont.) I promised myself I'd never made such an idiot of myself and have always kept up with new music, given it a chance. And the conclusion is, from someone who isn't a 40 year fart trying to convince people the only good music ever made was the one from the decade when I was a teenager, every decade has great music, seriously great music. If you keep your ears and horizons open, that is.

  • @pnblank i love reading comments like this.

  • @Sadsic why thank you sir/madam! :-)

  • @ABCRE2 u are totally right!

  • @ABCRE2 Twin Peaks

  • @ABCRE2 - yep, In August 1990 Iraq invaded the Gulf state of Kuwait. Anyway, know what you mean it was a good period minus world problems...

  • i love this song even though i cant understand her.

  • The most Beautiful, psychedelic and yummy band Ever! I Love Cocteau Twins. There is no other band like them (never has been or ever will be)

  • Beautiful...

  • @luvmyemili they are nice

  • accidentally famous.

  • Righteous band, righteous music.

  • Righteous band, righteous music.

  • i imagine alex winston likes these guys, i think i asked her when i saw her live, but was drunk and forgot whether she new them or not :/ ooopsy

  • its just owsom..beautiful melody lovin it...

  • their music their sound her voice... how wonderful it must feel to be an original.. CT remains unparalleled in their approach to new age

  • @harbring Thats cool. But I want albums because I finally got my wife a turntable. It's just a small one but it has good sound and speakers. I bought an old style 2 channel amp as well that has tons of inputs like sat, video and all the other stuff. Everything today (Mainly music and movie DVDs) is 5.1 or 7.2 and music in surround sound is great but that old warp and an occasional crackle is just the best sound when playing older music.

  • @crustyeyegoop That's exactly why I still buy records. Nostalgia, that quiet static in the background, even the occasional skip...that all means something, to me.

  • @LordReay exactly. and the slight out of timing albums had because of the large to small grooves throwing the sync just slightly off. not enough for the average human to register but musicians and producers could. digital is great but perfection in technology lacks our human imperfections which make us unique.

  • @LordReay I'm not a pro musician or anything but I swear there's a skip around 3:22. Just me attempting to show off slightly there...

  • She's Irish not British, right? Anyways, I do like them a lot. Havn't heard them in a while. My wife and I thought we lost all of our albums and tapes because we had them in a specific box. For over a decade we bitched about how we wish we had our old stuff. I then opened a very old plastic bin with cloths on top that were were going to give to donations and wham, there was several albums. Then I opened a heavier bin with some electronic stuff and there was nearly the rest. No Coteau though :(

  • @crustyeyegoop No, she's Scottish and therefore British :)

  • I agree caryn ;)

  • I agree caryn ;)

  • I feel like the cocteau's are 1 of my dirty little secrets...I only share w/whom is deserving...adore them :)

  • 60 people dislike that video, because that isn't regular version but any strange edit. Original version of that song is almost 5 minutes long.

  • Did she say "happy-dough Smeagol?

  • Throughout the entire album "Heaven or Las Vegas" was a precious jewel in the rock music of the last century .... origins "dark" to evolution "Pop Music". A wonderful job not to be forgotten! - Telomerase Music

  • Tutto l'intero album "heaven or Las Vegas" è stato un prezioso gioiello della musica rock del secolo scorso.... origini "dark" verso evoluzioni "POP music". Uno splendido lavoro da non dimenticare! - Telomerase Music

  • she ugly

  • Kiss my ass new age music :D

  • if you ask me what an angel would sound like, I would tell you to listen to Elizabeth sing... her voice makes me want to dance the night away... ;-)

  • Elizabeth Fraser's voice is simply magical.

  • @Wartimelabor

    Concur! Ethereal... Totaly unforgettable.

  • @Wartimelabor but she sucks at writing lyrics so she just makes up her own language?

  • @diekontrolleure It's a mix of written lyrics and an old irish form of singing called "Mouth music" where it is essentially gibberish, but not so much as to fill in the lyrics, but as another instrument.

  • When Scotland is independent they ought to make Liz their new Queen.

  • @GuyCybershy scotlands independence will be attained quickly hopefully, then we english will be free of the leeches

  • @dirtydenoafc Leeches? You must be referring to the City of London. You can keep them, the Scots can keep the oil.

  • @dirtydenoafc Oh come on, I'm sure you love us secretly :P

  • absolutly amazing ...absolutly brilliant track ..pure love :)

  • tremendous music.

  • @harbring

Many say that music is the art form that all others aspire to.

  • The video is so "90's".

  • Braw.

  • Even if I can't make out what is being sung, the song is beautiful and their overall sound is always astounding .

  • Awesome group!

  • @thenewfella1994 She is.

  • LA band - try YouTube/itunes for clips of Mountaineer, Ladykiller and Cannibal Love!

  • Still loving this after all these years

    Shivers down my spine

Have you all hear White Sea?

  • *_*

  • THANK YOU mcsimoes!!! I am so FUCKING SICK of losers trying to tell me she is talking in English when I MET HER and she TOLD ME IN 94 that she is speaking in tongues.....<3

  • @divamachina I think she may have been joking with you.I followed them in 94 and 96. Hung out with them at the Tonight show on April 8th 1994 they performed Bluebeard twice because the first time there was a technical glitch! She liked to have people believe what they wanted. She thought they should take advantage of not knowing what she was saying. Trust me. She has it all written down in English. It's published by Momentum Music and she has not shared w anyone outside of the band.

  • Star Slinger

  • Beauty in sonic flight! Once I purchased a cassette of Mary Black's music. On the outside was a promotional sticker attached with a quote from Sean Connery, "Surely this is the voice of God." How true here. This music helps us feel, helps us be more human, more appropriately solid. Exquisite! Dessert!

  • It's so pretty...

  • LOVE THE COCTEAU TWINS!! Brilliant. unique. beautiful!

  • amazing song!! If you like this, I think you will like danish act Inouwee with the song "My closet in your heart"

  • God, this song brings back memories...the best musicians on the planet...I've listened to everything they've ever written a billion times.

  • Dreampop! <3!

  • My musi taste is all over the place!

  • I heard this in s.Darko, love it!!

  • she has very pretty eyes :D

  • @999Cinderwolf Thank you!!!
