  • I have this mixer and im setting it up to ableton with my computer I need help trying to get the sound through my mixer so i can use the effects and eq's and cue.How is this possible

  • Thanks for this helpful info!!!!

  • why is everyone selling their ttm57 with its power cord on ebay?

can serato work with just the serato scratch live software cd without the ttm57sl mixer?

  • @SeratoTutor hey what ind of USB-MIDI Cable are you using ?

  • @f3nomeno9 - I was using an M-Audio UNO cable.

  • Does this works by it slef or needs extra gear to play some trance music ? (more interested in Dark and FullOn) .. If it needs that extra gear, what would be a good one and not too expensive ??

Plus ... How long does it takes to play some well mastered trance in this ?

    Thanks and keep blazin'

  • @DJDVUS1 - Yes you still need the soundcard box for whatever program you're using, the DDM doesn't have a soundcard built in.

  • Does it all so work with Traktor Scratch duo ?

  • @Senneeful - Yes, it will work with all versions of Traktor, or any MIDI capable program.

  • @SeratoTutor - And how do you then link it to Traktor ?

  • dude i try hooking up my midi to my mixer well i just cant get it going.. plz help me out..man thnx

  • All this time I though the MIDI was just for effect processors. I'm on my way to go buy a MIDI to USB right now. You da man. Thanks

  • Can I use this mixer with my serato video SL?

  • @Cruzilla71 - Yes, but the DDM's crossfader can't do MIDI and audio at the same time, so you can't crossfade the video and audio at the same time. You'd have to use the crossfader for audio, and use one of the channel faders or a knob to crossfade the video.

  • @SeratoTutor and i just bought the ddm4000 to do video mixing - is their a solution to this need the fader to do both midi and audio

  • Nice tutorial! Considering a ddm4000 as backup; seems very solid based on reviews and such. Your videos has given me more of a reason to purchase it. Thanks again.

  • can you still scratch though if you have it setup like this?

  • I'm having trouble using the samples from serato to the ddm 400. Where exactly is the AUX input/output located in the mixer? The only way I can use the samples is by clicking the button on the computer...A lil help with that please

  • @optimystikill - Yes, you still need the SL1 or SL3 soundcards.

  • this may have already been asked but is there anyway to get the buttons to light up when using midi

  • @DJChrisRivera - Scratch Live doesn't have MIDI output yet, so the buttons won't light up. There are various MIDI translating programs though that can get the LEDs to light up though.

  • just bought this mixer. didnt know you could midi assign. now im stoked. thanks fer the run through man

  • 2 things.

#1 do i need a sound card to just use this as a midi controller?

#2 when just using this with my laptop where is the audio out when i don't have a sound card?

  • can u send the mappings?

  • jus got ask from when this video was made till now is the mixer still in full workin order??

  • if you dont have speakers and you are using a laptop, can you still listen to the music through the laptop instead of the speakers?

    please respond, thank you (:

  • i bought this mixer and it was awesome. had it mapped to serato also and worked perfectly.

*the only downside for me was that the mixer gave out in a matter of 2 months only used it like 10 times.

*too bad i got a defective mixer made me not want to buy it again.

  • for someone without decks yet, could one assign some of the basic controls (play/cue/pause, pitch, pitch bend, etc) to buttons on the mixer itself and get along without investing in actual decks? as of now im using a damn keyboard to control traktor pro, I get along ok for quick mixes but i think since this thing has such a conglomerate of buttons and knobs i could do every thing i need for midi controller mixing, no?

  • @Smatchimo - Yes, the DDM is a great MIDI controller for Traktor also. Can control just about everything right from the mixer, play, cues, loops, pitch bending, the FX, mixer/EQ, filters.

  • @SeratoTutor great, thanks for the good review video

  • @SeratoTutor so can you do time code with this mixer

  • @Smatchimo - Yep! I lost my decks in a fire and thats how I use the mixer now. Its a great product from un unexpected source. You can choose which parts of the mixer you want to use for the intended purpose or for MIDI.

    -Happy Mixing!

  • Can this be used as like, for example, the Hercules RMX with Virtual DJ?

  • CAn u use this mixer to control serato video? Like the ttm ur able to use the crossfader to-mix videos can I use this mixer to do the same?

  • can the mixer be used for loop roll?

  • @2sikTM - Yes, of course you can do loop rolls with the DDM4000 (or any MIDI controller for that matter).

  • @SeratoTutor thanks man!!! what mixer would you prefer im planning on spending under 800$ i am currently using a behringer dmj 700. want to upgrade what would u get?

  • hey dud im thinking of buying this mixer so I got a couple of questions for you

    1. does this mixer feel sturdy, like the buttons and faders or are they all plastiky?

    2. how do you have your set up so that when you drop your needle the track starts playing on Serato? do you have an external sound card or is it through the mixer?

if you have a card, what card do you use?

  • @housekid14

    1) The DDM's knobs and buttons are rather plasticy and somewhat cheap feeling overall.

    2) The DDM doesn't have a soundcard built in, I didn't show in the video, cause anyone that uses Scratch Live knows you need their soundcards (SL1 or SL3) to use the program.

  • @SeratoTutor yeah i figured.......thanks!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i'm impressed, i was wondering how to do pitch bending, and here is the answer. i've never worked with a midi controller so i'm still wondering how to set this up (from midi to usb or something) and if it works with my software. Thanks to this video i'm about to find out. Thanks for this great insight on this cheap but nice mixer. cya

  • behringer speak for gh not g

  • hey dude, what ur recommend to use midi interface...

  • sre looked like it, btw what is it then ?

  • where can i download the serato sorware?

  • @discomovilvip - From the Serato or Scratch Live websites. However, if you don't own the hardware (SL1, SL3 soundcards), there's not much point. You need the Scratch Live soundcards to use the program.

  • how does the mixer till today fits you? im looking at buying a new one and i ran up on this one....

  • @DJDOMINATE00 - I don't really use my DDM much anymore, however, I still think it's offers a lot for its price.

  • is that virtual dj on screen?

  • @LoLSergal - Obviously no.

  • @LoLSergal no, it's microsoft powerpoint.

  • traktor pro is sooooooo much better

  • its mine tooo fu great german work : ) 4 a nice price

  • thanks man im gettin one today!

  • thanks man im gettin one today!

  • Question....Serato does not make the "X" button next to the search window assignable. but the keyboard shortcut is CTRL- F. Is there a way to assign a button on the ddm 4000 to a keystroke, therefore the ONLY time you would have to touch your computer would be to type in the keys for your song you are looking for. It is a pain to find the cursor everytime you want to clear the search window. A button that wipes it out would make it SO much easier. Perhaps you have another solution

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you do that i just got that mixer

thats the best thing ive seen it doo

  • @djeken1019 - All you need is a MIDI to USB cable, and the appropriate DJ software.

  • Does it work with virtual dj ?

  • @FGBMusic - Yes, of course.

  • i was thinking about getting this kind of mixer but i was wondering if i would still need to get a sound card?

  • @crimbob69 It's not difficult and only takes a few minutes to map everything. Scratch Live's MIDI implementation is very basic compared to say Traktor's or Ableton's.

  • first techno dj using cross fader hahahahaha

  • SeratoTutor can u please look at my video on my account i really need help

  • Wow! Excellent mixer for the price. Damn near un-beatable.

  • wow, this looks confusing!! I got that mixer and didnt know it was compatible.....I just purchased the SL3........

  • hey great video,

If the DDM4000 is connected to serato scratch or traktor scratch is it still possible to use the mixer's effects or sampler? or can it only use effects from the program its connected to?

  • @lucrezio1ciotti

you can still use the effects on the mixer.. reguardless of the program...

as long as the sound is going through a channel on the mixer.. you can use the effects

  • Question, how do you get the audio from deck 1 and 2 to get sent back to the mixer so you can hear it in your headphones? I'm running traktor btw

  • Its hard to get there from Serbia... its like 15.000 miles away! ;D;D Someday xD

  • hmmmm... can i plug it by MIDI to USB cable into computer? and map to play with TRAKTOR SCRATCH? i have now BCD 3000 and i want to switch on DDM4000 but audio4djs and others dvs's are to expensive for me... can it works??

  • oh. and i have TCV traktor and numark tt-500, i want to work on decks.

  • hey wat do u need to do to conet the mixer to serato

  • midi to usb cable

  • whats up man i give you props bro, some one like you thats owns a rane mixer talking good about a cheaper mixer, i want one but alot of haters talk bad about it, i dont care if it lastes me 1 year or 2 ill be ok by then ill have enough to buy a better high end mixer, but how has it been since you loaded video on 2008? please get back at me thanks peace out

  • is this all from midi ? or u have the serato inteface?

  • I would also like to know that...

  • You still need the SL1 or SL3 soundcard interface. The DDM does not have a soundcard built in. Even if it did you still wouldn't be able to use as the audio device in SSL. The DDM is strictly a MIDI controller (and mixer, of course).

  • DOODDD, do you use ableton as well? if so im soo fucking noob and i dont know how to do midi mapping!!!! can you help me out? message me

  • what are x and presets??

  • i have a question, if youre a house and techno dj, you dont need turntables?

  • Ya if you a house/tech no DJ just do some X and use the presets

  • Hey seratotour i hvae a question! i'm thinking of getting the behringer ddm4000 but is this mixer just good for mixing or can you use this for scratching too?

  • Ofcourse you may use it for scratching.

  • I'm not even sure. I wanna get the ddm4000 but I also wanna scratch.

I just might get the innoFADER and install it into the mixer so that i can scratch tooo.

  • Woulnd't that be more costly? And what is this innofader?

  • ye its more costly. its basically a universal fader that is GREAT for scratching (one of the best). You can put it on a wide variety of mixers and turn it from an ordinary mixing mixer to a cutting beasttt.

Ye its expensive but i got the money

  • I know of a few people who have done that, and are seriously happy with it, I don't normally like behringer, but the ddm is in a league of it's own. DDM + inno = serious win.

  • Thanks man now im REALLY considering it

  • innofader is basically a very customizeable optical fader

  • u can still scratch with the regular fader,

I learned how to scratch on a djx-700 XD

  • Really good job Rolley05 on that... i woud throw that shit djx700 into a dumpster... JESUS. Never will change my xone92.

  • oh yes proud owner of a ddm 4000 now :)

  • imo , just go and buy allen& heath and u are finished with ur mixers...

  • wanna sponsor me?

  • Allright! =)

  • lol sweet XD

im in aus, send me a mixer

  • Wien?

  • austria or australia? ;D

  • lol australia

    whenever you can ;)

  • i was thinking of an allen and heath, what would you reccomend?

  • Xone92.

  • is it really good cause its a lot of money:L

  • @wildey212 mate , xone 92 is not good , its BEST. There is no better mixer on market in whole world. Unless you buy UREI 1620limited , but that mixer is very rare and about 2000$ , and its old 10 years + , so best mixer on world now is Allen & heath xone 92. BUY IT if you have money. Cheers.

  • Cheers ducknzie, guess i need to save up haha, thanks for the info mate

    cheers

  • @wildey212 No problems mate , but when you buy it , you wont change it for 10 years at least , you have 2 imba filters , and sound is so good and unique. Have fun mate!

  • allen and heath alot more dependable and higher quality then behringer

  • price tag mate. all decent djs know allen and heath are the best. but for 300 quid this mixer is ace

  • HI, by the way , thanks for your vid's, great help!. i am trying to trigger the effects using a nanopad and ttm57. have you worked out how to do it. thanks

  • can this mixer control serato video sl?

  • Yes, but the DDM's crossfader cannot do audio and MIDI (i.e. video) at the same time.

  • @SeratoTutor So you couldnt use the crossfader to controll video's with audio in scratch live???? I have SL3 at the moment...and looking for a mixer that i can scratch video's with, basically the same as JFB does it in his 57sl demo's - I was nearly going to buy the rane 57sl, but this was a huge cut in price, plus it has full midi control for when i want to do some 4 channel mixing in traktor.

  • Track ID on left deck: Sharam- texi

  • Alright I bought this mixer and it's pretty awesome. The problem I'm having is setting up all of this crap from serato to the mixer:(. I've only had the mixer for about a month but I dont have it set up like this:(. You are a badass sir. Another little problem is actually recording from serato but maybe I'm not doing something right which is usually the case. If anyone can help with the recording issue and maybe just setting up the scrolling thing with the crossfader and loading the song, thanks

  • is the crossfader good for sratching? and can i map 5 cue points to each dek?

for real the only reason i want ttm 57 is cos of the cue buttons.. and te ttm 56 crossfader performance..

    thanks!

  • The stock crossfader isn't that great for scratching, but you can replace the stock one with an Innofader, and that will make it a very scratch worthy mixer. Yes, you can map cue points with it too via MIDI. I'd suggest using the sampler area on the DDM in MIDI mode for setting/triggering cues in SSL. The DDM sampler area has two rows of five buttons, perfect for just this.

  • If you replace the fader with the Innofader will midi still work?

  • Yes.

  • wut do u think would be best for that mixer to mix mostly house, minimal, progressive and tech house....serato (which ive never used before) or traktor (ive used it only a few times)....?

  • A lot of the EDM/techno/minimal DJs have switched to Traktor, as it is designed more for that kind of of DJ. I own both Serato and Traktor Scratch Pro, both have their pros and cons. But the DDM works great with both, probably more so with Traktor though, as Traktor's MIDI controls/options are much greater than Serato's.

  • Nice video, I would like to know if the mixer would work as well with virtualdj, as it does with serato. Also, I am trying to decide over a Rane with a Behringer, which one would you reccomend and why. I would truly appreciate, and take in effect, your reccomendations since you've worked with both. I am a mixer dj as well as you are. Thank you in advance.

  • Just another Good dj question... how often should you change your cartriges on the turntable if u use viynl

  • if u just buy this mixer, can it work on scratch live without a box, and have two decks?

  • No, you need the SL1 or SL3 soundcard box.

  • Do you need a serato box to use this or do all u need is this mixer?

  • Yeah you need serato

  • awesome stuff, i'm getting one of these:-)

  • thanks a lot for this vid and the review you wrote on that forum. I'm an Allen & Heath freak and I was thinking of getting another Xone once I move to the US...now I'm thinking twice!

  • worst place to put a headphone jack.. lol. awkward place.

  • heavy lead tends to drop to the side of the unit, but I kinda still agree with what you're saying

  • if you use scratch live on the copurter dose it tell you the BPM on each deck on the computer

  • yes and its actually very accurate, too

  • What conffin do you have? I've been looking for cheap coffin but I just cant find one. 200+ :(.

  • It's not a coffin. Just Road Ready cases for the turntables and the rack ears on the mixer resting on the cases.

  • Hey mate are the midi controls already mapped to serato or do u have to individually go through every button and asign it yourself?

  • You have to map everything yourself. Which isn't hard and only takes a minute or two to assign everything.

  • Great mixer for what you pay, Had mine almost 2 months now but the cross fader is soooo bad.

  • replace the fader with INNO FADER compatible

  • do you really nead the serato interface for using it like this?? or you only need the mixer?

  • You need the SSL box, no way around it. How else would the sound get to the mixer? There's no soundcard in the DDM, and even if there was, Serato doesn't allow use of other soundcards besides their own.

  • Hey, I finally got the ddm4000 mixer. I set up the midi controls for what I want. The problem is when I cue up the next song to play, I can't hear what's coming out of the channel. Is there some special midi control for this? I noticed that you dont have a midi control for the crossfader on the mixer but I do. Is that a problem? I just want to hear the next song I'm bringin up to mix without both songs playing together. How do I do this?

  • Just turn the cue mix knob (underneath the headphone volume knob on the mixer) all the way left to hear only the cued channel.

  • Two questions. Does it not function well as a scratch mixer. and where do you get the side panels for it to make it fit into a 19 inch case. Thanks konix i watch all your videos and your so much help.

  • The stock crossfader isn't that great for scratching, however, you can put an Innofader in the DDM4000 and that will make it a serious scratch mixer (at least the crossfader). The 19" rack mount ears are included in the box when you buy the DDM.

  • BEHRINGER PWNS!!! plus is sounds great very affordable and does last very good buys and bottomless variety and range of products from effects pedal to amplifiers to mixers... very good brand

  • damn, i can't belive thats a behringer mixer, uahauahuahauahuha, mixer seems perfect for house dj's, now the only question is,is it going to break it soon?

    auhauahuahuahaahuaha

  • I cant get my mixer to work with ableton live for some reason. could you please run through just incase i messed something out, cheers!

  • Just bought this mixer, all I have to say amazing. I got my pionerrs hooked up to them. CDJ-800MK2 and they work perfectly with it. IF you spin euro and electro and this mixer is made for you.

  • Hey, great Video... and props for the others too.

I just have one question. I have a pionner djm-800 and i know it has the same midi capabilities, but i scratch a lot during my sets. My problem is that while scratching, i will scroll up and down my music right ? is there any way to stop it ?

    thankz

  • Don't assign track scrolling to the crossfader then, assign a knob or something else for scrolling.

  • dude.. i LOVE your vid's !!!

    hahaah

  • Hey Great Tutorial, I know Behringer isnt the best mixer but i agree with about to buy it so i can use the midi features, also how did you or what r you using to make your video i like how you have Serato in the corner i would like to do this can you help

    thanks

  • I use the built-in webcam on my Macbook to record me, and at the same time use a video screen capture recording program to record the Scratch Live screen, then use either Final Cut or Sony Vegas to edit them together and overlay the two videos.

  • Hi!! I have a question. If I have a ddm 4000 and a macbook do i have to buy the serato scrath live or i can find only the software.because i don't want the sound card,,,

    sorry for my anglish...:S

  • Yes, you still need to buy Scratch LIVE, which most of the cost is the SL1 soundcard. The software is more or less free, but it's pretty useless without the soundcard. The soundcard is a dongle and it unlocks the full software when connected.

  • Thanks for being very informative and showing all the features that support Serato Scratch Live. I think I will pick up this mixer next paycheck lol

  • hey bro.. any follow up on this mixers capability of working with the pro X fade?

  • Don't know about the Pro X Fade, but the Innofader does fit and work, which frankly, the Innofader is better than the Pro X Fade.

  • Where did you find one for 300 dollars?

  • Wow! Amazing dude!

  • Can you use just the ddm and software on their own?????

  • what do i need to conect my ddm4000 to my mac i already ask the store seller there but he doesnt have it do u know what n where i need? please reply

  • Easiest solution is a 5-pin MIDI to USB cable, I'm using the M-Audio Uno.

  • I have this mixer and use serato as well and did not know this..Glad I found this put can you make a video showing hot to connect and assign the buttons to the mixer. I have never used a MIDI so it would be great.

  • I use a CME U2MIDI with my MacBookPro. Its really awesome, worth a google.

  • ahh allright, too bad. thanks anyway!

  • With Traktor I meant Traktor Scratch*

    Or any other DJ Programs.
