First and foremost -his aseptic technique is not good at all.
no gloves, Purell does not sterilize anything, especially if just wiped and then immediately used. Everything that comes in contact with cultures or sterile grain must be autoclaved for it to be clean enough to use. Wiping with alcohol does not sterilize, remember, it must be in contact with alcohol for at least 15 mins for it to work at all. The Master Grain jar should be in front of the bag to be inoculated, not behind the bag.
What grains are you using for spawn? Why not shake inside the jar and do a g2g transfer rather than contaminating a spoon and spooning it out into the bag : )
when growing indoors you have a much higher rick of contams. so you have to do everything possible to keep any other form of bacteria or mold from entering your grow. or your screwed. its alot easier to grow outdoors than indoors if he wouldnt have closed that bag it would turn green from trich in 3 days
What a shame I live in part of Aus that has the pigs crack down big time on anyone near where these grow naturally, as opposed to the eastern states where people can go picking en masse.... I hate stupid drug laws...
is the hood necessary when transplanting the mycelium? i want to try my hand at growing portobello mushrooms and i am on a budget. what would you recommend for as beginner?
From one budding mycologist to another: very nice!! You really seem to have a nice system set up, and you work very confidently, which is really key in maximizing your chances at a contamination free enterprise. Much respect man, and I wish you all the best with your future forays into the world of mycelial madness!
I Love your videos , give me pls more Input :D

I just started growing a couple weeks ago, you don't need to be as sterile as a surgeon.
TehNoobinShow 2 years ago
True, but what's the point in taking unnecessary risks?

You Can Kill them If your unsterile.

Hehe you missed the joke, I don't think mother nature takes a trip to walmart to buy a bag sealer.
