I truly believe there would have been no Troubles without Ian Paisley. His followers committed the first sectarian murders, bombings and riots targeting Catholics from 1966 to 1969. Had this not happened, the modern IRA would never have arisen to fight Protestant paramilitaries in 1970.
@mst3k4evur Exactly! I doubt for one minute that the IRA would want to take up arms for the hell of taking them up. If this vile cockroach had preached harmony and unity instead of hatred, 99.9% of NI would have been behind him, he may even have gained the nobel peace prize,
btw the 'red hand' is irish catholic. O'neills, o'donnells, donnellys etc have this on their crest.how you came to perceive the red hand as your own is another joke.
@bansheewhiskey yep just like the catholics in world war two still facist nazi horrible little creep. what happened with civil and religious rights for all. and not just for white catholics you facist thugs
And btw the rev i paisley was right to say don`t come running to me this was in 1986 now in 2011 we have the ira killing policemen for being catholic`s and warning all police officers from both sides that they were targets. and don`t say that it`s not the ira cause it is just another name change same people same tactics. and the sad thing is they ask for equality then they do horrid shit like that to a young man with a family to prove there point that they will never let peace prevail. ........
@bansheewhiskey if you like the republic so much you must be used to being a tramp cause thats the state that ireland will be in with the debt to the euro for the next 50 years. why do you think the dissidents from the south have been doing the tiger kidnapping`s to catholics in the north putting pillow case over kids heads and treating to shot them dirty low lifes

@bansheewhiskey I`m a moron hahaha your a just a nazi pal. i take it you think calling people n****r`s is nice do you. And the comment all protestants should leave ireland is not bigoted. @bansheewhiskey we built ulster its british we gave you lot a decent country in the south and you have well fucked that up. Eira is owned by the E.U and IMF ireland more like skintland while ulster still thriving under protestant british rule. so i think we`ll keep the red hand and give the tricky allah to the germans as they run the economy in the south any way
Sorry, when the UVF and UFF, stood up to defend Protestant communities, they are terrorists, but when the IRA kills a police officer or soldier, it's rightous and glorified. Paisley was a good man, if you learnt your facts, when he was a local MP for North Antrim (mostly Protestant) he helped Catholics achieve goals more so than Protestants.
@MrNornironfan The PIRA was formed in 1969 to protect Catholics areas where Loyalists were burning and intimidating Catholics out of their homes. Stop telling people to learn their facts to make what your saying look like fact.
@kmcg06 I do know you dick. But they arent protecting communties by attacking the Police/Army, attacking the protectors thats why Catholics got so much violence and hate from police, army ,and the protestant people.
@MrNornironfan The RUC wernt a police force they were like an anti Catholic paramilitary. The Apprentice Boys were allowed march through the Bogside yet they blocked Civil Rights Marchs and did little to protect them from Loyalist mobs. Basterds.
@kmcg06 Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, 1.Not a paramilitary force, proven to be the best police force for delivering community service while being the best anti terroism unit. 2. The apprentice boys were allowed to march as it was a tradition and did not disrupt the people. 3 they blocked civil rights marches as they were outlawed by the government. Governments fault, not the RUC's. Did plenty to protect them from Loyalists, They did all a force could, They were the thin green line between the shit..
@MrNornironfan Proven to have shown its traditional pro-unionist role with a violent backlash against the peaceful Civil Rights campaign. Yeh tradition to march through the Catholic Bogside effectively saying ''fuck you'' we beat you in 1690. You wouldnt see United parading their 19th title through the streets around Anfield.
@kmcg06 Except, patrolling the Bogside which is catholic is brave and commendable, if you fought crime in a place where your chances of being murdered are soaring i would congratulate you. Its what a police force do, i dont know if you know this but there is other crime than terrorism, so they patrol there anyway, they were bothered with catholics, why do you think unionists were so upset, Your trying to make the RUC look bad, yet the fact of the matter is they're not, the IRA was.
@MrNornironfan I was talking about the Apprentice Boys attempting to march through the Bogside. What I should of said was that the B-Specials were like a paramilitary force and your making the RUC out to have been perfect when they clearly werent. They baton-charged peaceful Civil Rights marchers in Derry in October 1968,the brutality received world attention and watched Loyalist mobs ambush the legal Civil Rights march at Burntollet Bridge in January 1969.
@MrNornironfan At first, I wasnt criticising the RUC I was responding to you saying why are the UVF and UFF regarded as terrorists when they stood up to protect Protestant communities. There was little threat to Protestant communities when the UVF formed in 1966. The IRA were nearly non-existant, the Provos didnt come about til 1969. The UVF shot dead Catholic civilians in 1966 aswell.
@kmcg06 do you know what a baton charge is? and im pretty sure you're not stupid, so don't look up facts on google then regurgitate them here, the PIRA rememerged in 1971, i would fucking know, i just had a GCSE on it today and guess what, All this shit we are talking about was on, Northern Ireland : Changing relationships 1960's-1972. and im not saying the RUC weren't a bit heavy handed, they were at times, but they Recieve More Critism than half of the fucking spastics on this website think.
@kmcg06 the ira are still killing police in northern ireland mate. they made them change there name from the royal ulster constabulary as the republicans disliked the words ulster and royal so they changed to the psni to try get equality in the policing of northern ireland. so what do they do they change there name to the rira and kill catholics for joining the police. and thats what happens when you give in to these horrid men that sent out a warning to all catholics thinking of joining police
@kmcg06 sorry, i mean, weren't bothered with Catholics, As i Think you'll find Loyalists did not like the RUC/ British army, as the last person to be killed in the troubles before the ceasefires was a soldier murdered by the UVF, and the RUC were awarded the George cross, only one other Force in the world has been awarded that, the Maltans, for defending their island in ww2, and the RUC as they were the best of the best, the ones who stopped the violence, the murders, the hate.
@kmcg06 bullshit lad the republicans in the falls road had been attacking loyalist areas from 1968-1969 then the loyalist had had enough and ok they were a bit over the top instead of protecting there area like they were formed to do they attack the ardoyne and falls road area causing mayhem but tempers where running high at the time on both sides. here is a fact for you harlow& wolf had to build to ship yards in belfast one for each side if there was no civil rights at the time why do that?
ha ha so funny , he is fuelling an already burning fire with hate, he more or less telling protestants to gear up and go out and start a civil war..........glad to see him amnhandled by the ruc, that has made my night
Northern Ireland's power sharing Government have been disaster, 10 years ago there were 28 segregating walls & now there are 90 segregating walls in Ulster. Kids who never done a day's work in there lives are running riots in Ulster. Arshad Khan will smash so called peace walls with tanks within 1 hour. click Justice party UK.
this man is one of the reasons there were so many deaths during the troubles. He bred fear in the protestant communities and it was this fear which fueled the loyalist paramilitary groups. This "man" should be ashamed, all this trouble, murder and death for this man's political career. disgraceful
@seanymo NO NO NO. YOU FUCKING IDIOT! This man is a hero when it comes to getting peace on the Streets. The paramilitaries did what they did. Thats not paisley's fault. Its not as if he commanded them.
@MrNornironfan this man done more bad than he did good. The main reasons behind all the attrocities of the troubles was fear. Fear which was incited into the protestant communities by this man.
@Eimear0 The Northern Ireland parliament was prorogued in 1972. Several attempts at creating devolution were tried after that, including the 1973 assembly, 1975 constitutional convention, 1982 assembly, and 1996 forum which ultimately lead to the Belfast Agreement, St Andrews agreement and everyone living happily ever after.
Looking back on his life now, this appaling creature regulary used the threat of civil war etc. He wanted it. Just looking at all his rhetoric from the past it makes the fact that he failed in his objectives all the sweeter.
He helped start the Troubles because of his hatred of Irish people... then these fuckers act like they were the ones first fired upon when the IRA re-emerged... the Provo IRA never would have even been necessary if cunts like him hadn't used the most disgusting vitriol imaginable to inflict obscene civil rights violations on Irish people who lived in NI
they should have thrown that bastard paisley down the steps. doubt that would ever happen though seeing the r.u.c. was full of his supporters cuntttttttttttttts
It's funny how many of the people around Paisley in those days are sadly departed now - for example the first two people carried out before him, Ivan Foster (I think) and George "Burn All Catholics" Seawright. What an evil cunt he was - thank God Paisley saw the light when he got old.
if any Republican politician made this comment on TV they would have been interned. Paisley may have 'softened' over the years, hes still a sick, twisted, evil bastard, he and Maggie Thatcher will soon join Hitler in hell!
Ian Paisley is the epitome of the agressor who claims to be peaceful.
He tells those who ejected him from Stormont :when you,re home are attacked, dont come crying to me"
shouldnt he have said "IF your homes are attacked" - because he shouldnt be sure of such violence...but he IS sure...because he instigates and arranges the violence....evil evil man.....
"When your homes are attacked don't come crying to me". Sounds like a threat to me for someonewho has spent years crying that he'll "never" sit in government with terrorists when his own da was one. Hateful aul cunt not long for the world thank fuck.
From someone whos lives far away from ireland, please answer me:
In 1986, wasnt the NI Assembly already dissolved? If i´m not mistaken, london ended home rule back in 70s, and the region remained that way until the good friday aggreement. Is something missing here?
Elections to a an Assembly were held in Oct 82. The idea was 'rolling devolution' an inititive by then NI secretary of State Jim Prior. Nationists boycotted the Assembly making it a white elephant and no powers were 'rolled ' out. It was dissolved in June 1986.
@24liam24 at least he has not a convicted terrorist like martin and gerry. tell me would america let osama bin laden sit in the white house. no they executed him. this is horrid seeing police officer taking away there civil rights if that was sinn fein there would have been a outcry. tell me one republican that has worked for peace that has not done time for terrorism...???
@loyalwull im not defending anything that martin or gerry have done in the past. the difference is that since the troubles, they have always been willing to work with people they disagree with for the sake of peace, unlike paisley. his behaviour has been pathetic and childish over the years and lets not forget the paramilitary groups he was involved with: ulster protestant volunteers, ulster resistance etc.
@24liam24 I know where your coming from liam and now we all must work with each other but the rev ian paisley was not involved with the paramilitary side of thing in either the upv or ur and he distanced himself from them when the bad lads got caught but you must agree that he has his right to free speech and his civil rights or the whole democracy thing is out the window bud. and you may not like him but you must say the old man`s got some baws
@24liam24 and liam you have to remember that this all happened cause mr adams and his party would not attend the assembly and no moves for peace could of gone on without there attendance so who is the one`s blocking the peace process here the loyalist for showing up or the republicans for boycotting you decide for yourself mucker...
@24liam24 sorry to nag on about this lad just one more thing that i have to point out paisley was in stormont to sit down with gerry and martin but they decided that no we will boycott this to BLOCK peace so no they have not always been willing to work with people or this clip would not be here now would it the fact the assembly was cancelled was due to there unwillingness to talk or has that escaped your attention.
"The Rev. Ian Paisley came out backwards." That is the money quote of all times. Of course, nothing else could be more obvious. The question is when did he come out that way? I am inclined to think (& given his Calvinism, he would agree w/ me), that is how he came out of his mum.
The RUC should have just dropped him onto the ground instead of helping him up onto his feet. He trash like the trash you see in the rubbish bin.
