  • You have just rewritten the story of my life in only 2 minutes and 24 seconds-thank you! Also you have included and combined 3 of my most favorite people in the world (and most inspiring):Martin Luther King,Obama and Adam.Thank you a billion times, wonderful job! :)

  • @frederick909 - glad you enjoyed the video. I could have done a little better a couple of places technically, but I'm very proud of the content I assembled - and the message that the video conveys.

  • @theBestArts Well you should be proud! :) I love it!My college paper is actually about civil rights, with a focus on African Americans and the LGBT community. Also I'm a huuuuge fan of Adam Lambert :)

  • The world needs to get over it, everyone is a person not some other race unless you horns or a tail.... Love is Love either if it is a boyXboy or girlXgirl or just regular boyXgirl...... It is rare people seem to understand that!!

  • AMEN!

  • great video love the way you think

  • i absolutely SUPPORT gay marriage!!!! :)

  • Absolutely one of the most powerful videos I've seen. To see Obama speaking with Martin Luther King's march in the background, and Adam Lambert singing Sam Cooke's song, with the now new law of legalized same sex marriage in New York creates a VERY POWERFUL, PASSIONATE AND IMPORTANT STATEMENT! Thank you to The Best Arts for your passion and dedication. I've followed your site ever since the day I discovered Adam Lambert and I'm so happy it was there. Great site, great work, awesome video!

  • i give adam lambert a five stars-great adam lambert run for president someday or mayor or governor and senator.best human being suited for this type of job one day.

  • love adam lambert -im all for marriage equality.thanks you adma lambert -my hero -my great singer-obama dint do anything just talk, ore republicans vote for gay equality.

  • In honor of the passing of marriage equality in NY!

  • Gay marriage was just passed in New York!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

  • Outstanding compilation.

  • Wow Great Job!!!! Thanks

  • I love you

  • Woah how did you make this? This is really cool

  • What can I say? It speaks for itself. THANK YOU for posting this - from the bottom of my heart. It's also great to see that, as of now, 224 people like this, and only 3 do not.

  • Good on you Adam, let make gay marrige in america or more parts of america legal.

I salute you. Go Adam. That's a compliment by the way.

  • this is incredible!!! thank u so much!

  • Love the black and white images to make all look old. I grew up in New Orleans and saw prejudices of race (big time) and homosexuality (somewhat tolerated in French Quarter only) and this song was always a part of my life. It fits everything. so glad Simon Fuller gave it to Adam to sing.

  • Amazing video!!!! What a great message:):)

  • love just happens with any body, its not necessary to happen between two people of the opposite sex...why dont everybody just live and let others live,i hope everybody cares only about his own business and any one is free to do whetever he wants as long as he wont hurt any body else.CONGRATULATIONS TO MY GAY FRIENDS .

  • Beautiful. There are no other words to describe him, as well as this video and song. <3 <3 <3 This is a beautiful day for this world.

  • amazing!! :D happy day and right! love won yay^^ :] ♥

  • amazing!! :D happy day and right! ove won yay^^ :] ♥

  • Ah - so emotional right now. Love this song, love this man, and love the help he lends to the fight for equality. He may not actively fight for the 'cause', but he leads by love and example. Today was a great step in striking down Prop 8.

  • Prop 8 decision coming out TOMORROW (wednesday August 4th, 2010)

  • EVERYONE WE NEED TO SUPPORT THE LGBTQ AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.

  • I was shocked to learn that a majority of African-Americans in California voted for Prop 8 (against gay marriage). I'm not gay and I don't really care what 2 consenting adults do in their private time. I'm still unsure why African-Americans seem to have a problem with it. We're all on the same team (I'm assuming we're all Democrats) so I don't know why we have to cannibalize each other sometimes. I guess we truly are a "big tent" party.

  • This is such a great video!

I'm praying for this change to come and for there to be equality for everyone.

It will come some day...hopefully soon

  • People should be allowed to marry whoever they want in my opinion... We are all equal here :) I also hope we get to see this change soon! It is needed!!

  • gay is right!, coz im

  • @caroleinfl i feel sorry for your soul. you are missing out, clearly. he can. yes yes he can.

  • About damn time a change is happening. I want to be able to marry a woman if I fall in love, and have it recognized by my nation's government.

  • So do I. I'm more likely to marry a woman than a man and I live in a state that recognizes gay marriage but it still wouldn't be recognized by the federal government and I can't believe we're still fighting this battle in 2010.

  • We don't have a problem with gay marriage in Boston, you go Adam, luv ya much and keep on singing!!

  • @Joyce51, I really appreciate your comment - but you DO have a problem with gay marriage in Boston. Even legally married gays are blocked from all federal recognition of their union. The U.S. General Accounting Office has identified 1,138 rights and responsibilities not available to even legally married gay couples. That's why this suit is so important - whether here or later, a change is gonna come.

  • A lot of people are very upset about that also, I apologize for not stating it. There are lots of people that I know who want a change and I believe everyone should have the same rights. Hopefully that day will come soon. :)

  • I'm sorry, I hit the wrong thumb, would never in a million years thumbs down to your comment, my son is gay and I am waiting for the day when he can be married to his wonderful bf

  • @liangel51 That's fine, I've done it myself and I wish your son and his partner all the luck in the world. :)

  • Fantastic video! Change WILL come all over! :]

  • What a fabulous video! It gave me goose bumps!

  • He should have had a video showing Harvey Milk and Stonewall. Not Martin Luther King and Obama.

  • I don't completely disagree. In addition to your suggestions, I could have included footage from the March on Washington or other gay civil rights movements. I don't think I was wrong, though, to include the footage that I did.

  • Obama promised nation wide gay marriage and equal rights, he's not doing a damn thing. The problem with America is that you decide state by state. It should be one law for the whole country.

  • @AntimousIsGod1: Obama never promised nationwide gay marriage. He should have, but he didn't. Hopefully, though, he's helping to move things in that direction by small steps.

You're absolutely right about the state by state problem in America. This court case potentially could change that.

  • What court case would that be?

I'm so angry that gay marriage was abolished in California because the Mormons cheated and used dirty money to make it go to vote again and then rig the election! Grrr. I hate religious groups that push people around.

  • This whole video is about the court case that will hopefully overturn the gay marriage ban that has (rightfully) made you so mad. Please read the video description under "more info" along with the Newsweek article.

  • Sure thing :)

  • As far as MLK goes, many of his supporters didn't support equal rights for gays, but MLK certainly did. His top advisor for most of his life was openly gay Bayard Rustin. MLK withstood enormous pressure from blacks and whites to dismiss Bayard because of his sexual orientation throughout the '50s and '60s.

  • Wow, I had no idea. That's awesome. What a nice man :)

  • @theBestArts Great video. Would love to see this updated to include United Nations decision, Obama's latest speech on same sex unions, some It Gets Better Snippets, and the decision in New York to allow gay marriages. Guess I'm not asking much am I? haha

  • best gay singer since freddie mercury!

  • If I remember correctly, the US was not built upon Christianity. If that's the case, why are we letting it govern us?

Homosexuality isn't a sin. No where in the Bible does it state this. If you're going to let the Bible rule your life, at least read what it has to say instead of being 'blinded' by people who tell you wrong.

  • @drkmark1956, cont.

I fail to see how Christians can fight against gay marriage by calling it a "sin" while turning a blind eye to these other "sins", that are apparently just as terrible abominations in the eyes of God.

How can you look at a gay couple and not see how much those two people love each other? I just don't understand why people like you would want to keep them from expressing their lifelong love and commitment for each other.

  • @drmark1956, cont.

As to your argument that gay marriage should be illegal because the Bible calls it a "sin", if we derived our laws from the Bible, children would be stoned to death for being disobedient, eating shrimp would be illegal, women would not be allowed to cut their hair or wear pants, we could sell our daughters into slavery and make Mexicans and Canadians our slaves and concubines, and anybody who worked on Sunday would be killed.

  • @drmark1956, cont.

But what is more important is that two people loving each other, and wanting to spend the rest of their lives together, is a wonderful thing. They shouldn't be ashamed to love, you should be ashamed to hate.

  • @drmark1956

People cannot help whom they are attracted to, or whom they fall in love with. This is what people mean by "born gay". Here is an excerpt from a short story by M.E. Kerr that illustrates this point:

"Mom, it's not a choice. Was it a choice when you fell in love with Dad?"

    "Most definitely. I chose him!"

"What I mean is - you didn't choose him over a woman."

  • Fine rendition of a fine song. Great edit, too.

    Thanks for posting.

I must be honest and say that I'm always troubled by the LGBT community's constant parallels of their CR struggle w/ that of African-Americans, especially considering the abhorrent racism so prevalent in the LGBT community. A-As aren't allowed into gay clubs, seated in gay-owned restaurants, refused housing in "gay areas" of major cities, and worse, only to then see themselves used as a stepping stone by the LBGT community.

  • I'm all for marriage equality, but, before gay people expose the bigotry of others, they'll have to have the courage to expose and eliminate their own. Some A-As are homophobic (and that's being dealt with from the inside-out), but, they're not trying to use LGBTs the way they find themselves being used by people who ALREADY have more rights than they.

  • Tim St Louis, This all on my birthday, I had no idea a change was coming.

  • Such a powerful singer, beautiful. Day after MLK Memorial, and people will be thinking about human rights. How did blacks do it, when gays could not, though? They became exemplary, loved, forgave, strove and prayed more than Mr. W.A.

    You, and your buddies?

  • POWERFUL song and images..........

Adam gives beautiful voice to a long-overdue realisation that MLK really meant it when he said ALL are created equal.....

those who are in denial of this need to re-examine his writings.

Thankyou Adam and Best Arts........I hope this is brought to the attention of as many people as possible............

Please would someone send it to the White House website and Twitter for the Obamas to see.

(I'm sorry but my lack of computer skills stops me from doing this)

  • @olivesykes Really Obama doesn't seem to care......he said what he said to get your vote....now that he has it.....He's put all that in the back burner.......really you must realize by now Obama is not what he made himself out to look like...

  • @olivesykes How sad it is that you have been blinded by the sin of homosexuality. No one is born gay! It is a CHOSEN lifestyle. Repent and see that God has a better plan for your life.

    Dr. E

  • Today, on MLK Day, I salute Dr. King for his progress on securing civil rights for black Americans. Dr. King was a strong supporter of gay rights as well. Bayard Rustin, who was openly gay, was one of King's primary advisors from 1956 until King's death in 1968. Rustin convinced King to dedicate himself to the principles of non-violence; he also organized the 1963 March on Washington. King withstood great pressure from both blacks and whites for working so closely with a known homosexual.

  • thank you theBestArts you have always been cutting edge

    all things are possible

  • Beautiful and moving.

  • WITH YA ALL THE WAY...GUESS WHO?

  • Cool, you subscribed, yay!!!! It's fun

  • I am praying that it finally gets passed, and not JUST in select states. This is an awesome video for something that should have never even BEEN on the ballot. They might as well take 'equality' out of the Declaration of Independence if they're not going to abide by it for EVERYONE.

Beautiful job on the video, Kevin. Your editing skills are brill.

Hang in there everyone, and keep pushing for what you believe in.

  • @AvidActress007 - Thanks so much, Nat. I'm hoping that this video will get a lot of play - and maybe (through the video description references) open a few minds.

  • Thanks for sharing; I hope this video will get a lot of play.

  • Incredibly powerful and beautiful video. Fight the power!

  • I don't see how they can't rule this crap unconstitutional. However, I also didn't see how state after state could actually vote against gay marriage.

    Sigh.

    They better get it right.
