My favorite part of the movie is when he was going to fight another pirate hand to hand combat untii he pulled his shirt off and the other changed hid mind and said, "lets fight with swords". He didn't want none.
Forget about some of the cliches and enjoy a real classic feel-good movie.
They don't make them like this anymore....the musical score adds to the film with a mystical quality....particularly enjoy the dance scene which ozzes with Reeves` charisma. I first remember seeing this film when I was 16 and being quite effected by it. I also remember wondering who the very impressive leading man was!
Oh my goodness, nostalgia overload! It's ages since I saw that movie. Just look at those primary colors. And what a shame, it isn't running on tv or available on DVD, so I'm doubly grateful to find a few clips of it here.
(Forgive me for asking and delete at will, but is there any chance to upload the movie? Or it's out on DVD just point me where to buy it.)
... and that bit 8:10 to 8:20 was _hilarious_. I was expecting the change of mind but that "okayyyyyy, maybe not" was still funny. Thanks for posting this!
I wish I'd had the chance to meet the great Steve Reeves when he was alive. Alas, he died about 10 years ago and the closest I came is meeting a couple of people who knew him. I really enjoy this movie and I once saw it right before I went to Panama where much of it takes place. There, I learned the true story about Captain Morgan, of which there is hardly any here. But this is still a very enjoyable film.
I really enjoyed this. Many of the BEST Bodybuilders of his era said he was not only the BEST Bodybuilder but the handsomest MAN they ever saw . Steve was also told that the Hollywood stars of his era refused to be seen in a movie next to him. He looks fabulous in this movie and worked hard for everything he got. What movie star ever looked better than this ? THANKS for these and PLEASE post more !

Why was Reeves voice always dubbed? Was it because he was a terrible actor?

@shinshoryuken my guess is, that these films were all made in italy with mostly an italian cast, and when they dubbed it, they dubbed all voices.

One of the better pirate flicks of the 60s. Low budget, but good atmosphere, action, music and accurate looking ships. Reeves in top form.
