  • Wow, this is great! I plan on making a costume for something soon and I need to craft a pair of shoes for it, was leaning towards wood for part of them because I figured it would hold up well to what I'm going to do to it, I think I've made the right choice for at least part of the materials...(I know it won't be easy to do, and I've accepted that. I also am planning on spending a good portion of time on them though.)

  • There are two factories in Holland making large numbers of wooden shoes.

    "klompen" in dutch.

    Just google klompen

  • I like those shoes, can they be found online?

  • i shame me for my county at 4:37 everyone outlander thinks dutchies wears wooden shoes. The next one consider asking me if i wear wooden shoes i strangle with a tulip

  • Thanks for sharing that.

  • Ah, and you think that you can earn your bread with it in this "modern" world?

  • Sorry, I am a movie maker, not an expert on the subjects. When humid, willow wood is well to work on. Maybe there are other sorts of wood than can be used as well.

  • @19simba42 I am a movie maker and would prefer making wooden shoes than the stressful job of working in the motion picture industry.

  • Does it have to be willow wood? Does Cherry split like that? That wood is like BUTTAH

  • Ik heb ook een film over de machinale fabricage gemaakt.

  • Leuk video hoor !!

I used to work in a klompen fabriek back in the early eighties and we used machinery to shape the outer and inner shapes & various sizes but someone still had to carve the rough outer shape using a bandsaw.

  • What is the name of that large knife attached to the log? I would love to know more about it, it looks like it would be useful for many things.

  • @VTwanderer "Paalmes" is the name in Dutch. It could be translated as pole knife.

  • @VTwanderer It looks like a log peeling(or drawing) knife. It's a blade used for peeling the bark off of logs. It looks like it was adapted for shaping wood in the workshop.

  • very interesting

    congratulations for it !

  • Thank you - fine craftsman, wonderful product - ahoy from Alaska

  • just for you

  • @joealanouf

yes, they are but it takes some getting used to wearing them. And you really can't compare the ones made for tourists with the proper ones made for actual use.

  • wooden shoes are very arousing when females wear them that is

It is so relaxing to watch! I wish the craft lives forever!
