I have been sober for almost 3 months now. My underlying issues aren't resolved yet. I guess if you can't face the past and change your present. It's hard to be becoming something new you. In th past, my mom saw my cut, all she said was 'Dun be so stupid!' and my brother thought I did that for attention. No dounbt I haven't talked with them about that since. But right now I'm trying to pull myself together. I'm reaching out - seeing my therapy and seeing new people.

To write love on her arms is a non-profit organization that was created in 2006 when a guy decided that he needed to help his friend, Renee, who would cut herself and was addicted to drugs/alcohol. After doing this he started to realize that many other people where experiencing this same thing so he decided to try to help everyone the best he could.

TWLOHA believes rescue is possible.

I had a friend who would burn himself. his parents beat him and his life was horrible. but he got better. a few months after he got better though he started on drugs...I have yet to talk to him about it...help him again. but I need to. I can't be afraid to do it because he NEEDS the help, you know?

Just walk up to him one day and simply say I know your mad at me but i didnt tell anyone what you been doing, but u need help cause your hurting yourself and i wont let you continue because i care about you.

I went to see a presentation of "To Write Love on Her Arms," and all I can say is that it was total BS. The people affiliated with the organization (including the founders) were absolutely clueless. They knew nothing about the true nature of self-harm. I was so very irritated by their ignorance. I mean, they didn't even attempt to educate themselves about what they were attempting to present. Also, Renee's story was unhelpful because very few people get lucky the way she did.

I saw it at the University of Florida. Also, I am sure it was hard for her, but, then again, it is hard for everyone. And, yes, she was lucky because she had a whole army of people who cared about her. Most people don't ever have that kind of support.
