  • I Love this Battle scene spacially when they used the Cannon lol

  • first time i hear about shaka

  • Loading a cannon by pouring gunpowder down the barrel! From the bung in the side of the barrel! All that would do was blow the loader up as the powder was set off by the residue of the previous shot.

Never mind the history (crap) what idiot was technical advisor on this film!

  • It`s amazing how the ridiculous and ignorant quotes from that work of fiction, ie, the bible are brought to nought when exposed to the real World.

  • What the hell are English guys doing here? By the time they met Shaka Zwide was dead and Shaka had been king for a long time.

  • @Tareltonlives Almost EVERYTHING said in the movie "Shaka Zulu" about the English is pure baloney. The show starts off with "Lieutenant" Flynn getting orders to find Shaka. Flynn (only a MIdshipman) was a trader, and went to Zululand seeking a fortune. No more, no less. He had no authority except his own.

It shows King Cetswayo insulted at Windsor Castle and told he couldn't have his kingdom back, when the OPPOSITE is true.

  • @Tareltonlives, the History of the series is off for sure, the military tactics & scenes even worse in this case. But, this the only major miniseries to actually thell the story from yhe African Zulu side for a difference. So, take the usual historical errors and tactical flaws in stride, they make the series even more fun, you know.

  • Wait which battle was this?

  • @youse12132 Shaka fought Zwide twice, at Gqokli Hill and at Mhlatuze River. The British played NO PART WHATSOEVER in either battle. Shaka never saw firearms used in battle, in fact. This is just a movie, and just about everything this film says about the British is just baloney. Farewell and Fynn weren't on an official mission, for example, they were just adventurers seeking their fortunes.

  • @a0e0roberts on the contrary the british did help him in wars .he wasnt that impressed by the firepower .because he saw they had to reload after every shot fired that gave the enemy an advantage they could move in and as soon as they got close enough shaka said the gun men would be mangled ..ive read it

  • @fashizze I said that the British played no part in the Battle of at Gqokli Hill and at Mhlatuze River. SPECIFICALLY. Perhaps the books I've read are out-of-date. Maybe new information has become available. I'd love this, btw. Most of what we know is based on the self-serving and contradictory writings of three English traders. What books have you read?

  • @a0e0roberts my info comes from several bios ive read on sites about the man. you said he never saw fiearms .so that means your saying the british never fought in any zulu campaigns

  • it is a powerful warning from history... just hope that someone will learn from it... yeah! well.. not much chance of that then!

  • When I first saw this movie way back in the 80's it gave me nightmares. Now as an adult I can enjoy it. Henry Cele was perfectly cast as Shaka.

  • Shaka was an extremely brave, brilliant, psychotic leader and mass murderer.

  • If your Christ wants to be the lord of the Zulu's he must deserve it...

  • @Guluva69, love that line.

  • Some of those muskets look like pea shooters. And the Europeans uniforms are crap. What they need are a bunch of Martini-Henry's and some red uniforms and some pith helmets.

  • The Europeans had on Zulu uniforms along with European clothing. And the Martini-Henry rifle didn't come into service until the later part of the 19th century, 1871.

  • HAHAHA You see what a small group of Europeans can do to thousands of Zulu's. The Zulu's got raped at Rorke's Drift. 4000 thousands Zulu's against 100 British soldiers, and a bunch of the soldiers were sick.

    GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!

  • That´s not a proof of bravery. Is only a matter of having better weapons.

Would have been interesting sending the british against those zulus with no guns nor armor, only a spear and a shield, 1 to 1, so we could speak about superiority or bravery. But that´s impossible right?

But, if you want to speak about technology and development that´s another matter.

    PD: I´m not black

  • @miguelitoven Actually it is bravery because those were a lot of motherfuckers. I don't care how many guns your have your can't kill a whole army with only 9 ppl. If Shaka didn't send his troops they would have surely died from the rush or the lack of ammo. If it wasn't bravery then they wouldn't have been scared before.

  • @LordWellington15 if shaka wanted to he could have killed those guys. and the zulus defeated the british once with shaka so what are you talking about stupid.

  • @Remedave1 Yes but you see he didn't, therefore I declare him stupid.

  • he had to believe they were of help. he actually thought they had the power to make him look younger.

  • There was not many (Half Caste) (Mixed Race) people in those days ..Obama never existed our people didnt come about ontil like 100 years later

  • like everyone else shaka thought the white man was there to help and all they wanted to do was take over. never never trust a white man. that dude looked crazy when shaka said that b.s. about the christ in is heart will defeat anyone crap lol

  • It wasn't the white man, it was emperial European conquest. The white expedition went in with there racist preconceived notions that they could scare the zulus with their rifles and technology. Then they got to know the zulus and wanted to form an alliance but the British government refused. Do to colonial arrogance, thousands of Brits died to achieve what Zulus would have given them. Land and goods in trade for technology and education.

  • Zulus needed land to grow food and raise cattle. They certainly did not want overlords.

Shaka wanted something from the Whites - to know his potential enemies, to understand their powers and to give his own people a foil and potential enemy to keep himself in power.

Shaka had a wonderful sense of strategy, terrain and timing. What a pity that the Brits were too stupid/racist to make him a General or Viceroy.

  • @gene15644a They weren't stupid. Shaka would have tried to rise to power u can't keep a king, a warrior king at that as a second string. They want to lead everything not just a portion.

  • @RiftRaft123 Perhaps... The British were able to co-opt Rulers in other nations. Perhaps Shaka could have been persuaded to be a vassal of the British Crown? We will never know, but part of me wishes that the Zulus could have been part of the Empire rather than a conquered nation within the Empire. He was a worthy opponent of the Empire, including members of my own family who died in the conquest of Southern Africa.

  • @gene15644a I know but even though he unified south Africa and spread the culture, his home rule was brutal. He should have worked on his home rule better. Shaka kept the enemy at bay but when his half brother assasinated him it is believed that his last words were that the white man will take the land. It would be better if they were a peaceful empire but it was an empire lead by a conquerer.

Shaka is like the African version of Gengis Khan.

  • @gene15644a Its like if Carthage would have beat Rome in the Punic wars. They were very close but it didn't happen. If they dead then they would be the sole super power and much of history would have been different.

  • aaw, cmo'n, trust us. you know you want too!

  • I don't believe for one moment that Shaka believed that the white man was there to help him. He was a man who took what he wanted in life, and probably understood that people don't come long distances to "help" others. Especially since there was already a a colony on the Cape of Good Hope.

  • Shaka believed that he was all powerful. Dutch settlers were no match for Shaka's large armies, so he probably initially thought that the British were no threat and would easily serve him. Once he saw that the gun was superior to the spear, he tried to form an alliance to avoid being colonized. Shaka had land to burn so giving the Brits land was a small investment in perserving Zulu hegemeny. He later saw that his efforts would do nothing so Zulus thereafter pressed up against the Brits.

  • Shaka didn't believe such a thing. He repeatedly put the whites in a position that exposed there lies because he never believed them. He was smarter but not as well armed.

  • @BSteady14

Did you watch the movie? Shaka did his fair share of conquest and "taking over" to make it out to be a "white trait" is ludicrious. It just so happens that the white man was more powerful.

  • best true story movie ever it goes right into the hart of africa the root of it all

  • Shaka was a military genius..

  • thats very stupid you need real fire arms like machine guns and then

  • Give it fire

  • It all comes down to blowing their heads off.

  • man, you should on a board of directors, your role would be to give one liner presentations at the end of the meetings :D

  • If Lieutenant Farewell were Alive today, he would make a superb trial lawyer. He twists everything that is said with such skill and ease.

  • So true but id still wager the brisitsh if we had proper commanders.

Colour Sergeant Bourne: Because we're here, lad. Nobody else. Just us. ZULU

  • I believe Shaka could've driven the British out of Natal to the sea. He had tens of thousands of warriors. Sure, he'd have to convince his men not to fear the British "magic" weapons. Not impossible. The Zulu shamans would've concocted special juju herbal potions that would give the warriors a psychological boost. And once the regiments of Zulu warriors closed in on the British it would be hand to hand combat, bayonet to spear.

"Our bullets run out. And those bloody spears don't." Zulu Dawn.

  • "I believe Shaka could've driven the British out of Natal to the sea" Shaka could have killed all of the British. Single handedly. In the real world, there weren't more than a dozen of them, and they were the most unlikely bunch of adventurers possible. They were always trying to back-stab each other (figuratively speaking), each one trying to be the great white chief of Natal. The only reason they survived is because they brought new trade goods with them. They were no threat. 10 years later...

  • to defeat them you to attack from sea air and water.i bet them spears wouldn't worth shit.

  • Certainly... the man had 80, 000 well trained warriors @ his disposal. The Zulu warriors did not fear da "magic" weapons of da whites because Shaka had indoctrinated dem 2 da point where like the Aztecs da Zulu's felt dat death on da battlefield was da best type of death. If dey were ordered 2 attack the Whites there would not have been the slightest hesitation by any warrior, as Piet Retief's party found out in 1838.

  • Zulu, true warrior.

  • Without a doubt.

  • Shaka treated the missionaries assigned to his country with ambivalence, first receiving them warmly and then turning on them.

  • "We will see who is the true King Of Kings... who is Power. If your Christ wants to be the Lord of the Zulus he must deserve it ... as I have".

    One of my fav miniseries

  • they have a cannon. Why didnt they blow the crap out of the zulu??

  • "Why didnt they blow the crap out of the zulu??" Huh? They were trying to form an alliance with the Zulu.

Shaka was fighting Zwide and the Ndwandwe people. Is that what you mean? I don't think they had much powder or shot. Everything they had was pulled off a sinking boat.

Anyway, this is all fiction. Shaka beat Zwide without help from the British.

  • coz they were hosted by the Zulu, otherwise they would not have escaped alive...same goes for Hernan Cortez conquering Mexico

  • AEY MAN! POST THE REST OF THE FLICK!

  • Cool movie. Shaka was a hard c*nt.

  • I don't recall anyone making these comments on the post for 300. Greece is but a shadow of itself. Anytime Africa is shown in a light, other than shanty towns, we need to pick away at the greatness.

  • what do you meen by Greece is but a shadow of itself.

  • What's the name of the mowie whom is taken this clip?

  • shaka is dat nicca he kuld talk someone into killin theyself

  • The africans are still doing what they were doing at those times which is killing each other. At those times they were killing each others with spears , now they kill each other with the guns that the white men sells to them.

Even in the villages in africa people are doing witchcraft on each other in order to exterminate each other.

And the whole africa is sinking

  • So have whites, and thats why america is sinking. Thanks to capitalism, and its imperialistic nature.

  • shaka zulu ne croyai pa en jesus kel con hhihihihi

  • Shaka is the Greatest Thanks for uploading this can u upload more of this especially the battle before he becomes king

  • Thanks for post man :D!

    Memories 'sigh' :(

  • u are stupid and u need to shut the hell up and watch the clip spartans my ass these men were scared of shaka if you were watching

  • The movie 300 is highly exagerated, just because the warriors are not white doesn't mean they dont know what they are doing.

And the 300 sparts owe alot to their navy if anything. Otherwise they would have got owned a long time ago by the persians.

  • ZeroHero: Sparta didn't HAVE a navy. Athens did, but was usually opposed to Sparta. The Athenean navy crushed the Persians at Salamis.

The Persians had already burned the city of Athens, but the Atheneans got their revenge.

  • i agree

  • i cant help but to chuckle some at the part when the whites start falling back because of to many warriors advancing and its funny in a way lol first the old man gets stabbed in the side and screams "yeeeaaa'lol and the the other yells while swinging his rifle "get back u savages get back get back yeeaaaaaaaaaa" lol has me chucklin every time that part comes up lol hahahahhaha funny

  • "their magic is working!"GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!

  • I SAID ATTACK!!!!

  • One of the movie's best parts!!! Thanks for posting!!!

  • from bibical days ppl have been killing certain of their own to saperate who's wut! Whie ppl killed Jesus so you kno they dont care as long as they r on top when the smoke clears. I love that movie to death.

  • all of the africans knew of jesus that was nothing new to them

  • yea but Shaka didn't. I don't believe it was safe for a missionary to dare enter the Zulu territory at that time.

  • "I don't believe it was safe for a missionary to dare enter the Zulu territory at that time." They did. As Cetshwayo said "First come the traiders, then the missionaries, then the red soldiers."

  • neway the point is Shaka had never heard of Jesus,

  • The old 300 Spartans trick, forcing superior numbers of enemies to attack into a narrow front. A well trained & armed small force can stop or defeat a larger one that way.

  • "do you not have christ in your heart"?

  • he was testing their faith in their god so he wanted them to prove that with christ in there hearts they were unstoppable thats the problem with people of faith they hesitate when put to the test or get scared and renigg

  • The man was a power hungry bloodthristy killer.. killing thousands of his own people over the death of his mother and also having his son killed how can anyone rationalize the actions of this man Shaka

  • just like napoleon who is a superstar in the education we receive whereas he performed real crimes against humanity

  • @allahndong

" he [Napoléon 1er] performed real crimes against humanity "

Oh yeah ? Which ones ? When ?

  • @allahndong Um in whos education is napleon a superstar he was a military genius but he led his men to death in russia and also was a butcher in spain. Maybe in France they think of him as a superstar.

  • @fashizze And what did the western world do to Africa? With a man like Shaka to unite them they had a chance. Those were different times, it was kill or be killed.

  • @bcibibcibcpCB even after his death the zulus were still a powerful empire .and used his war tactics and still lost to the europeans in the anglo zulu wars..as for your excuse for what he did to thousands of his own people .thats rationalization definition =creating false but belivable excuses to justify inapropriate behavior

  • @fashizze In the proces of maturity our society had to go trough thoser fase. The Romens, Napoleon, The Kelts,... The spreaded their language, their culture and knowlidge. Without them we would all speak different languages and the world would exist out several tribes. There were men needed to unite people. Europe, America, the whole western world is a product of men like Shaka.

  • @fashizze

    And Alexander The Creep wasn't?

  • @mistermateriel alexander was a conquerer extending his empire .the only way to do that was by war .in wars people die..this man shaka was a genocidal mad man .he killed thousands of his own subjects through murder and starvation .the cold blooded bastard had women and their babies killed at his meetings if their babies cried ..and if someone sneezed they were quickly put to death. the man was a cold blooded maniac

  • Sort of like the English.

  • @fashizze ever heard of context and ''spirit of time and culture''??

  • @FOKKERization he was a meglomanic savage bloodthirty murdering tyrant

  • WOULD JESUS- fire a gun?

  • CoCo-- Yeshuwa wouldn't have to......

  • Oh shit!! Shaka is the man, tryin' to kill those white

guyz like that. Do you not have Christ in your heart??

    Fuck he got them there!!!!

  • How long did the white men stay in south Africa to learn zulu language. You see the problem with Africans they are just too friendly.

  • Shakka was one of the true kings. He posessed mre than just heart, he the understanding and was on his way to becoming truely enlightned. His power was real and evident which is why so many were wiling to ride and die with him. He earned everything including his crown and the title king of kings. Had he not been murdered, through the power of thought he would have eventually transcended his human form and became dietised and rose into the sky to dwell with other true, non fictional kings.

  • You are either stupid or crazy for sayin some stupid shit like that about a man who was a crazed mass murderer who slaughtered thousands of his own people and even stupider for sayin if he would have not been killed he would have asended into the sky you are a nut or just plain dumb.. don't post stupid crazy ignorant shit like that it makes u look pathetic

  • well put fashizze, well put.its kind of a sad tale, you can see what shaped the man that he was.but still no excuse for what he did,its like praising hitler or something!??!that other dudes nutts,i think his brain assended in the heavens.

  • probably did ..what a wacko

  • And yet famous white kings and queens, and warriors did this and you see that without a problem?

  • All religion is bullshit. It is just a way to unite large groups of people under one banner and control them.

  • Jesus is the only king of alllllllllllllll kings

  • shaka is a murderer he killed over 10,000 of his own people

  • 855muppet your a white man and you have the nerve to judge anyone on murder.Your ancestors have killed millions under God the american indisns were over 50million before the white man came to america now the are reduced to reservations.Your pathetic

  • PLease just give me one gattling gun (chain gun). The one like in Predator. You could win the war in a minute!

  • Actually the gattling gun was what allowed the British to eventually win the Zulu wars, so you are right there.

  • shaka said by the time it took them to reload they would be manggled

  • Shaka rocks!!! King of the Kings!

  • jesus christ thats a massive army shaka has got id say he has bout 40,000 warriors i dont no but its deffently more then 7000

  • BLAM!
