This must be the first time I've ever seen a horror movie list that I completely agree with. I'm so tired of people listing those crappy modern movies which are completely unoiriginal, non-scary and predictable. Finally some quality! I've gone through your entire list now, and even though I've seen most of the movies, I can't wait to see the ones I haven't seen :) Keep the lists coming :D!
I've seen "The Shining" pretty scary. However scary it may be it isn't number one because of how scary it is. It was a great film. I haven't seen the Exorcist yet, I plan to though. My father saw it in theatres and told me people were walking out in the first 30 minutes because it made them sick to their stomaches. People have told me it's good so it's on my list of movies to watch.
@DisturbedFan0000000 The Exorcist is the scariest movie ever made... The Shining is the best horror movie ever made. Its hard for me to decide between the two :/
@SamuelH105 Mostly, that is why it is hard to make a top 50 horror movies of all time. There are so mnay horror movies that it must be difficult to decide what the top 10 should be. I appreciate the time and effort that this csnc82 put in. He made a great list. I think this is the best I've seen.
Miré las 50 peliculas que pusiste y te felicito por el conteo, me hubiera gustado "The changeling" mas arriba. No coincido tampoco con "The shinning" en el numero 1.
hey dude i need ur help im looking for a movie is about a dad with her son in a haunted house but the father start to fight with a war dead friend a skull solider i cant remember very well the a fat ugly lady is decapitated by the dad and he is looking for her son ge was kidnaped by some kind of lil trolls u got it? plz if u know about the movie plz send me the name plz ok cheers btw merry xmas!!!!
list was good until towards the end became arty farty crap.seriously fair play to them for making decent movies back ghen but honestly none could raise the pulse of a toddler,70's and some 80's was horrors golden period, be honest you only put the turn of century crap in to look clever as many do
I had a feeling you were saving The Exorcist for one of the last ones. Definitely one of my favorite horror movies! I do wish Nightmare on Elm Street had made the list as well. Great selection of movies here though!
you altogether have good taste. Can't remember liking the cabinet of doctor caligari but that was probably because its silent. I appreciate the videos anyway.
Thanks a lot for your top 50 list! I discovered some interesting movies, such as "Ravenous", which I had not heard before. Well, such a list is the cause for endless debates. Still, let me please suggest some more great horror movies: 1) "The Sixth Sense" (one of THE classics of suspense horror). 2) "Ringu", the original Japanese version is frightening! 3) "A Tale of Two Sisters", the Korean original movie, a frighetning psychological horror film with a great story!
I guess we can say Honorable Mention to Sixth Sense and Blair Witch Project, oh, and Friday the 13th (original) Nightmare on Elm Street and 1973's Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Hmmm...no Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th (the originals of course!)? Oh well, it's still a nice list. Haven't seen most of them you listed though, much less heard of them.
Also, there is Stephen King's It and Storm of the Century. Both really good in my opinion.
Astounding list! I wanted to thank you for taking the time to make this. And for being unbiased to the age, origin and sub-genre of these great movies. Some of which I've never even heard of, so I'd also like to think you for turning me on to them! Bravo! XD
#4 haha! Very surprised to see that in the top 10. It's certainly a great film and helped Shutter Island's author into millions of free dollars since he ripped off the plot. But hey, he was smart enough to know he could totally plagiarize since the work is now in public domain.
Very nice list and thanks a lot for making the vids. Very entertaining and some movies I've never seen.
I loved your list and the epic movies from the 20s and 60s made it that much better! The music added an extra creepy touch. thanks for the awesome horror movies list it is byfar the best I've seen.
Thank you very much for this top. You're a true horror fan, made me remember so many movies I forgot and now I'm going to seek them to inspire my own art.

Thanks for your comment. I have "The Fly", "The Thing" and "Alien" in my sci-fi list (look for it on my videos). I created this list 1 year ago and in the 4 videos i just uploaded you will find "Suspiria", "Evil Dead" and "In the Mouth of Madness". Now this list is complete.

This list was "ok" but WTF The Shining as number 1?? the original was nothing like the book at all. it was a horrible adaption. good move yes, but the Shining no. It should have been called 3 people trapped in a haunted hotel.
I can't believe u tried to make a list that compiles to a mere 30...lol. I'd have to add Suspiria, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original), The Thing/The Thing From Another World, Dementia 13, Friday the 13th, Let the Right One In, etc...... I woulda had a top 100 at least lol GREAT LIST THOUGH!

totally agree man, everyone's entitled to their opinion but wow, what a shitty list. "The Shining" no.1? wow, I'd have gone for either The Omen (original). Aliens (sci-fi horror), The Thing, or The Descent
Evilkris, you, like many horror film addicts, have no taste of them, and just like to see a bit of gore. The reason Shining is first is because officially it is the scariest movie made and because it is psychological.

i actually really enjoyed all 3 of the films, though i thought cut wasn't really in the horror genre. and i have the feature film version of dumpling, which i found really doesn't work as well as the short version.
but each to his own taste.. personally it's 1 of my favorites.
yehh...um, im actually unsure as to whether or not the baby-stabbing/own-fetus-eating/TONGUE!! scenes from the short are in the feature length? been a while since ive seen the feature length and i certainly dont remember that fucking tongue...
they gave themselves the liberty to be more "artistically crazy" in the short version. and that's why i usually prefer short films, they don't apply to the rules of making sense as much...
also they made the woman who makes the dumplings much less sinister in the film.
very good list. But you should have added "The Ring" though especially if you added "The Grudge" too. The Ring is fucked up in terms of pure psychological horror
the shining was good...really good...but the exorcist was extremely scary...very simple but effective...true horror..not much blood and guts....till this day the exorcist is number 1..i played the dvd for some friends who havent seen it in years from begining to end and they loved it..no laughs just silence..pure horror..i think if kubrick would have made a remake to "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" it would have been good..

The Shining No.1?! Stanley Kubrick's?! Oh boy, that's the worst "horror" movie I have ever seen: bad acting, bad writing (that's the way Stephen King's bestseller is ruined), horrible music (was there any?). The most boring movie ever. I have tried to watch it for about 5 or even more times and everytime I fall asleep in the middle of it. How come Hellraiser I or II doesn't take the first place? I mean, there is no "more horror" movie than Hellraiser I and II, is it?

@alexdu86utube lol true but the best horror movies are the old ones. The two scariest films i have ever seen are the changeling and the shining.
