The renaissance guitar is tuned GCEA (bass to treble). It is four courses (3 double and one top single) The fourth course have one bass string and one octave. It is also possible to have the octave on the thumb side like the Ukulele (but here it is not the case)
Also, thank you for identifying the makers of your instruments. I have been watching musical videos like yours on YouTube to get a sense for the sound and size of different instruments that interest me. The fact that you identify your instruments' maker helps because it allows me to search for that instrument maker. Undoubtedly will help their business as well. Thanks!
Thanks for your messages. About instruments, I'm happy with those, so I say who are the makers. But of course there are a lot of good makers today I would love to play their instruments. I can't name them all here.
Also, thank you for posting so much information about each song that you play. It is extremely helpful for those of us who want to learn more about the music. I wish you many years of happy playing!
Thank you for your lovely music! You play very well and your videos are very nicely filmed (I like the hutch background you've chosen). Above all it is nice to hear skillful playing of now rare instruments so we don't lose that musical heritage. Thank you! You have inspired me.
I already post the other pieces (5 renaissance guitar pieces from Le Roy and Morlaye) Look at my channel for others... Renaissance guitar is a small but so beautiful instrument... But not so much music : Le Roy, Morlaye (with some addition by Grolier and Brassyng) some Phalese, a few Mudarra, and some english (Playford), but also used in ensemble music. Anyway fun to play ;-)
oh i love this!! :) tres belle val :) xx

Joli morceau! Et vous le jouez très bien, comment faites-vous pour apprendre autant de morceaux, aussi rapidement!
dominiquedv 3 years ago
Merci,
En fait je joue ces morceaux depuis longtemps, et de temps en temps j'en enregistre une série.
Ce qui me demande le plus de travail c'est le luth baroque...

Neat! I must admit, I really had no idea who Adrian Le Roy was, or how good his music was, until I began watching your videos.

Very nice piece! I like Le Roy so much!
And a guitar sounds great! I'll think about it. But a bit expensive, I guess...

Hi Val
This music is really nice and you play it very well, waiting for the rest of the "suite". Someday I must order a renaissance guitar.
