Anyway, disregarding that negativity to the people that actually know what is going on in Peru I too have family in Peru. They are in Lima however and luckily Lima was not as badly effected as was Ica and Pisco. Only thing was that it was hard to get contact because of the problem with the phones (heard people are angry at Telefonica for the failure).

It depends on where you live because (to my knowledge) there's no central coordinated effort to send aid. Groups in different cities are sending both money and goods. Here's some info I receive for LA:

I'm peruvian and experienced the quake in Lima city. It was pretty scary and I can not even imagine how awfull was in the affected areas. Thank God, the people of Peru is continuously helping, but more help is needed.

This is not really governamental flops and delivery systems... you have to considerate that the main highway is destroyed, imagine small marginal roads! Help is there, it is getting there, by air and by truck...also considerate that 600 prisoners escaped during the earthquake due to a wall falling, so they might be taking advantage of whatever help is getting to the area.
